      @@seanstar69 NICE! Had a 20-year hiatus from fishing, but seeing this ultra light game has switched me right back on. Except, been twice so far, both blanked, dropped £200 to get set up, and kinda feeling, "all the gear, no idea"! Plus, struggling for venues, want rivers really, in Warwickshire.

    Was out for few hours last night and trying out some new lures I'd bought but was a really weedy venue so switched over to my jigs 1st cast never even hit the bottom and boom probably the best take I've had from a tiny jack.. 2nd cast using the methods of retrieving I've learnt past few days watching these videos and boom 2nd jack on slightly bigger.. had the jig set sat there for ages just never fancied using them as lure fishing was just to keep busy wile out with the big rods but I'm now hooked after a few jig sessions and its increased my catch rate 10 fold

    Im from the U.S. and those jigs are pretty big compared to some of the stuff I use for perch. I never use braid either. I use 2lb to 4lb test mono or fluorocarbon. I fish the Mississippi river for all my perch. Fast flowing water with tons of rock and wood as well as floating debris. I fish the bottom with a 1oz egg sinker above a barrel swivel with a 18 to 36in fluorocarbon leader with a #18 hook and a worm. The jigs I use under a jobber are usually 2mm or 3mm tungsten with small tiny plastic's on it. Great video we just have completely different ways of fishing but we both catch fish. You definitely know what you're doing and talking about and have good tips.

  • @AndrewFishman
    @AndrewFishman Před 3 lety

    One of my favourite forms of fishing. Great tip about fishing the edge. I often walk troll along walls, Just bouncing and jiggling the lure along the edge as I walk along the wall. Plenty of fish picked up a foot or less from the wall. The wall is the most obvious structure on many canals and lakes, so fishing it makes sense.
    The tip about the bridges and shadow lines is so important. Tree shade and bridges, piers and other structure shade is so important. The converse is true at night. Hunt the light pools. The light attracts small prey items, the bigger fish hang in the dark at the edge of the pool of light. I always do a few figure 8s with my rod tip and drop and lift the lure a few times before lifting it and recasting. So many fish taken doing this.
    Rather than netting the perch and targeting the shoal, try keeping the first fish in the water, while casting around it with a second rod. Then, keep the second fish in place, unhook the first, rinse and repeat. You can get cricket scores without missing a beat.
    I rarely keep a jig head long enough to get blunted where I fish, lol. Plenty of rocks well attached to the bottom of the lake! My sharpener remains mostly untouched.
    Wonderful video mate. Love the way you break things down. So much of this I do without thinking about. For new anglers, this is great stuff.

    Been light lure fishing for many years now and I can safely say he’s bang on the money with all his tips here, it’s a brilliant informative video but I would say that you don’t always need expensive tackle. Yes it helps the more experienced angler but it’s not essential for beginners. Some of my biggest perch were caught on the budget gear in the early days. That’s not taking anything away from his tips and advice though.

    What if you are fishing in current should you use heavier jig heads??

    • @FoxRageTV
      @FoxRageTV  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you'll need a heavier jig to hold against the current but it's all about finding the balance and how you want to present your lure. A lighter weight will give the lure a longer drop which gives the fish more time to see it and react. Keep experimenting to find out what works best and good luck 👍🏼🎣

    Any tips for drop shotting with regards to dropping fish, I went for 2 hours today down the canal and had 5 takes only landing one as the other 4 just shook off... Hooks sharp as i touch it up every now and then, i'm not sure if need to set the hook firmer ?

    • @AndrewFishman
      @AndrewFishman Před 3 lety +1

      One problem with drop shotting is the weight of the sinker below the hook can help the fish shake the hook. Use braid, flouro and a graphite stick, and give a decent strike. Not too hard or you will just rip the hook. Keep the pressure on the fish at all times. and keep a reasonably light drag. Learn how to finger drag by applying pressure to the spool with a finger, and you can fish a light drag and still stop anything that might be problematic.

      @@freespool8772 Hope they help out. Good luck with the drop shot. Absolutely deadly when you get it right. I prefer a couple of other methods where I usually fish, as there are too many rocks to make dropshotting a real option, lose way too many sinkers. However, around weed beds and timber on a clear bottom, it is one of my go-to methods. I got a nice 30 cm perch in tonight's session using a micro jig and small craw imitation :) And about 20+ small ones. Love the reddies. Also got a nice little carp on a freebaited bread bait.

    • @spartt4360
      @spartt4360 Před 4 lety

      I believe braided is way better.. nothing is a must you can say, but... braided line is not so elastic as nylon and you feel everything way better. Braided line is a lot smaller in size, so you can cast longer distance in loch. Braided line doesn't curling that much and sinks better. So braded is almost a must

    • @spartt4360
      @spartt4360 Před 3 lety +1

      @BUSTER SIXTEENNINETY depends what you fishing for.. smallest you can go for the size of fish.. not an expert on super ultra light perch fishing, but I am fishing for trout 2-4 pounds in weight with 2-8g casting rod and used 10 pound breaking braided for that. But after few big pikes got it and snapped the line I bought really good braided line from Japan which has 22pounds breaking and is only a wee bit thicker than my old one, but cost £40 for 150mtrs. But you get what you pay for. If I was to put cheap nylon line with same 22pounds breaking strength I don't thing I would be able to cast at all because line would be 3x thicker😄 you should find some groups on Facebook for ultra light fishing and you will definitely find your answers.. but go for braided man👍

      Before French you would have to prioritize by language popularity so Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Arabic ect... French is quite low down the list.
      Having said that, it could also be based upon targeted market. So probably the aforementioned languages of no interest. Is up to Fox Rage to know what's best for their products. But certainly, if the French market is high up there, then subs would be great (and not that difficult to implement).
