  • It’s hard to believe that the Bentayga’s been with us for 5 years already. And it’s certainly been a trailblazer. During that time Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini and Aston Martin have also brought ultra-luxurious SUVs to market with more on the way. Available with 6-, 8- or 12-cylinder power including a plug-in hybrid, this is the Bentley Bentayga V8.
    MSRP as-tested: $228,845

    Thanks for the review. If I had so much money I was indifferent to the expense, sure I’d grab one of these. But as an aspirational car, can’t justify one that has poorer infotainment than that offered by my Kia Uvo system.

    Even the updated model looks incredibly cheap inside compared to the Continental GT, which is an absolutely knock out - maybe the best interior currently in ANY car at ANY price, and that includes Rolls Royce. The NAV unit in this one looks pulled directly out of a Passat. Personally I think this has a hard time justifying itself against a BMW X7 with everything on it.

    The plugin hybrid also is very disappointing: the battery pack is very small, so the electric range is limited. For the price they should have made it go at least 50 miles electric. For a rebadged Q7, it's bad value for money imo.

    Amongst latest SUV from different brands, this Bentley is upholder of old school interior used in almost every Bentley it is exactly the same. Exterior is also old school. Tail lights are reminder of old 50s shaped that is disliked by us &, we wish illumination of front doughnut shaped Bentley lights should be replaced with modern headbeams like that of Audi.

    Really nice. But with underwhelming interior technology, how would you rate this compared to the new Mercedes GLE 63S? I ask bc the Mercedes has a great engine and technology is world leading.

    • @ajlee6933
      @ajlee6933 Před 4 lety

      Mercedes has fallen behind with their technology, compared to BMW and Audi. There’s no wireless CarPlay, 3D camera, or the cool driver assistance features like you find in BMW.

    • @officesuperhero9611
      @officesuperhero9611 Před 4 lety

      AJ Lee not true at all. I have a Mercedes gle and it drives itself. Parks itself. And has an excellent 3D camera. I looked at the bmw and the Mercedes before buying. They both have very good technology.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  Před 4 lety

      From a driving standpoint this Bentley can't be touched. From the inside, the GLE 63 S kills it.

    • @ajlee6933
      @ajlee6933 Před 4 lety +1

      Richard, I was referring to the new 3D camera (not 360/birds eye view). I can see what’s going on around my current BMW, from my phone, while I’m away from the car. The driver assistance package is also better. There is this cool reverse assistance option, that remembers how I pulled into my garage (I have a tight driveway, with 3 cars and it works amazing). It also has a car wash mode, a camera in the gauges that watches your eyes for the self driving, and it shows an actual image of the vehicles around you (like Tesla) to show you that the system is alert and working. I also choose BMW for the LED panoramic sunroof, the Auto Unlock/Lock when approaching/walking away, the rear seat entertainment, and the BMW card key for your wallet.

Everything seems to be manually controlled which is unheard of on a mega luxury vehicle like this Bentley. When I saw you manually recline the second row seats, that just screamed Toyota/Honda to me.
