Great video, I enjoy the step by step and it’s easy to understand. I do have one suggestion though. Maybe this applies to only 94-97 NA’s or all but by installing the 10:10 spring tensioner fully outside of that pin it seems to do a better job locating itself where it won’t pop out. So instead of hooking the spring tensioner over the tapered finger of the steel slides keep the spring tensioner fully outboard of the finger. This also has the added benefit of being able to install the spring tensioners as the final step before putting the wheel on making things like seating the caliper easier. Just a thought. Otherwise great video, it definitely helped me with the process, I wouldn’t have known about the Allen key and would have been struggling trying to squeeze the piston back in.
A tip after trying this: when loosening allen key, it will stop turning when completely loose. To extract it, push it sideways while pulling out. If you keep turning, your Allen wrench might slightly strip the part and get stuck in it. This allows you to pull it out but damages the allen key.
You are the most easy to understand mechanic-instructor on youtube I have ever seen. I hope your views go up since your quality is outstanding. Great work.
I am replacing the rotors and pads on my 1993 Miata tomorrow, and this video is the perfect guide for that. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

If it's the back brakes it is normal to hear some grinding noise but it should be very little noise. Possible solutions would be to check if you've installed the spring tensioners and re-adjust the caliper with the allen key
Amazing video! But can i ask you, once installed, when pulling the handbrake, isn’t it locking up the other wheel as well, so you are unable to spin the wheel you just installed the parts regardless if it’s tight or not since it’s rwd? Genuinely curious. Thanks a lot!
I get what you're saying but the diff will always let you spin the opposite wheel, it will never fully lock up when you have the car in the air, so it's fine to use this method to check if your handbrake is working correctly.
Very nice channel, thanks . I got with my oem break pads some flat metal things, do I need them ? You don't use them, it's my first pads replacement tnx
Thank you for posting this. It was helpful. On the car in the video there are two lines, the brake fluid and the hand brake going to the rear wheel. On my car, 1991 BRG there is a third line, seemingly electrical. It goes to something I think is a sensor. At the end of the axle where it goes to the wheel there is what looks like a gear, but isn't , the teeth are exposed and it's near the extra line. My guess it's perhaps a magnetic sensor to measure wheel rotation. The car used to have a limited slip differential. The sensor and the gear like thing is on both rear wheels. Is my guess correct or is this something else?
Superhandige video!
Heb je after market klauwen of schijven?

That's a great suggestion man! Thanks for the tip! I will pin your comment so others will see this useful piece of info as well! 🙌

after spending an hour with a c clamp tryin to compress my rears im so glad i came across this video.
Haha no problem!
I was certain it was ceased. I put a brake compressor on it overnight with a load of wd40 hoping it would break lose. 🤣
This will be useful, I'm glad you are still making videos!
Thanks!
As always , thank you for your clear instructions ! 🇲🇹
No worries, glad my video was helpful!
still love the bloopers bro! shows us that you are struggling sometimes as well keeps you humble! keep up the good work
Haha yeah those last 20 seconds are always fun to make 😝

Thank you so much! I try my best to make it as easy as possible for you guys! 😁
Thank you for the clear and concise video
Thanks MM. Excellent detailed instructional video.
No problem John, glad my video was helpful!
As always, great job being detailed, but quick paced for the sake of CZcams.
Thanks for the compliment Benjamin!
I'm fixing to have to do this job. Thank you for a great instructional video. 😊
How did it go? 😄
Video helped a lot, thanks for passing on your knowledge
No worries, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the breakdown, using this on my 92 eunos roadster. Unfortunately gonna need rear calipers too. so have watched your next video as well!
No worries, good luck with the rear caliper swap!
Impressive collection of copper washers, sir.
Hahaha thanks!

Gonna take a crack at it tmrw. Very helpful video!

I like the amount of grease hehe
The more grease the better
Thanks for the video, after changing my breaks and rotors I hear some grinding while I drive any possible solutions?

Your guess is correct, that’s part of the ABS system in your car!
My pads dont have the holes for the little spring tension clips. The pads on it before dont have the tiny holes for the tension clips either...
Alright well that's not the end of the world, just install the hardware without the clips, you'll be fine
The brakes of the Miata NA 97 1.8, are they the same design or do they change something? Good Video! From Chile !!
They are exactly the same design, the only difference is the size of the pads and rotors
@@MiataModsI'm just in the process of doing mine and the 1.8 rotor size means the carrier has to come off.
If the front and rear brake pads are being replaced, should the brake fluid also be changed?
Nope, that's not necessary
When you said you if you don't have a copper washer nd that you have a whole collection I expected you to share them
When doing this is the E brake pulled? Or is in the resting position? Might have missed this part lol
E-brake should not be engaged!
@@MiataMods Thank you!!!!

My caliper doesnt move upwards after following the Steps
your job can look nicer if you lube the caliper arms instead of the pads. It looks horrible the way you did it
I hadn't thought of that before, thanks for the tip!
