In this CZcams Video we review what we think is the Best RV Mattress Upgrade for us! We got our RV mattress in a box from Tochta Mattress to replace the old mattress in our camper.
Tochta makes mattresses for RVs, campers, homes, or trucks in any size including king, queen, bunk beds, short queen, or any custom size you need! Plus they can make corner cut mattresses or mattresses with a radius corner.
Their mattress warranty is the best because they cover standard and non-standard sized mattresses in their 100 night money back guarantee period. Many other Mattress Companies don't offer the money back guarantee for custom size mattresses. The problem with that is almost every mattress needed in an RV or camper is a custom size!
Tochta has been in business for 35 years and they make their mattresses right here in the USA. Their customer service is excellent too!
We also got sheets to fit our short queen custom size mattress, a mattress heating pad to keep us warm in the colder months, and a mattress moisture barrier to ensure we have no mold or mildew under our replacement mattress.
We tried using a thick mattress pad and a mattress topper to make our old mattress more comfortable but we finally decided to upgrade our camper mattress. We did a lot of research to find the best RV Mattress and we landed on Tochta Mattresses.

We replaced our mattress with a Zinus hybrid mattress shortly after buying our 5th wheel. We put hyper vent underneath our mattress to prevent moisture and mold. RV life isn’t fun if you aren’t comfortable.

Very helpful information, especially about moisture barrier underneath the mattress, I would never have thought of that. Also: I learned at their web site that that all of their foams are CertiPUR-US® certified. That is something I look for as outgassing from mattresses sometimes triggers my asthma. Was there a fee for dumping your old mattress at the landfill?
Outgassing is SUCH an issue for many of us. I can't even tour new RVs. When we recently dumped an old mattress there was a small fee. Your city's trash department might be able to refer you.

Replaced my original mattress with a 6-inch Zinus foam full-queen. Since the original was new, still plastic-wrapped, I donated it to the camp ground where I knew that it would be used in their cabins.
Do you think that my Murphy bed needs the moisture barrier? My bed folds 90° with no cut to aid it.
I'm not sure you would need a vapor barrier. The barrier protects the mattress when it is in a position where the top of the mattress is in a conditioned situation (inside your climate controlled RV) and the bottom of your mattress is positioned at an unconditioned section of the RV like exterior storage. That combination can create dampness or moisture under your mattress. Your mattress folds down on to your sofa and gets sufficient conditioned airflow. I hope this helps explain. I have another question, what does it mean about the custom corner cuts? Is that something that needs to be done?

Great question!
Some RVs have a corner of the bad cut off to create more walking space. The corner cut can be straight or rounded. So, if your RV is designed this way then yes - you would need a corner cut mattress.

How much weight does this add compared to the one that comes with the trailer?

Great question! The Tochta mattress weighs about 60 lbs so it doesn't add much weight...it's probably pretty close to the weight of the mattress that comes with the camper..

Looks like Tochta is having a shortage of foam. Unavailable to order.
The extreme cold snap in Texas seriously affected chemical companies that supply raw materials for the majority of foam for mattress and furniture companies all over the world. I've been waiting for foam for over a month from another vendor. It's also causing delays in building RV's.
They had a pink box on the website that said there may be a delay due to the foam shortage but you can still order the mattress...

Sorry we came off that way...we just like the mattress and we did all the research BEFORE we decided on it. And if you watch any of our videos we only recommend stuff we actually use. You can't believe the number of emails we get every day with people offering to give us free stuff and pay us to make CZcams videos. But until we try things out and use them ourselves we won't make the recommendation.
