I put a purple mattress in mine. I love it!! Just had to upgrade my shocks that hold the bed up for access storage area. Went from 100lbs to 150lbs shocks, works perfectly.
We just upgraded our trailer mattress to the Purple 3 and like it as well. Soooooo much better than the stock crappy mattress.

When we bought our new trailer it came with a "upgraded deluxe mattress". What a joke, pitched it after the third time out even after trying a 'topper'. They should sell them w/o a mattress. We have a local place that custom builds mattresses. They have a room they take you in and start having you test multiple combinations of layers of foam to reach the firmness or softness you desire. We bought our home mattress there a few years prior and tweaked this one a tiny bit. The goal was to get them as close so we aren't trying to adjust to it when out. Paid about what you did. WELL worth it. It comes vacuum packed & marked for orientation. VERY easy install.
Any updates on mattress? How’s it working out? Did you end up switching sides? Looking at ordering.
I too recently learned that RV mattresses are sub-par. Can't wait to replace ours.

Very good upgrade! This looks like a must have upgrade for full timers. I agree with you regarding memory foam toppers. Luckily my Redwood came with a decent king size mattress, and I added a good quality pad for it. And you did a great job making that bed!
I looked for a video to see how you like it but couldn’t find any video about mattresses besides this one. Did you ever make a video review about you you are enjoying it?

Montana Hybrid mattress has been a good choice for me. After two years it is doing well and was not cheap but was less than the unit in the video. Seems to be very similar in construction.
Can someone please tell these RV manufacturers that the plywood under the bed says "I don't care about you" and not "They just gave us 1, 2, $300k and we should treat them better". Just my personal thought.
Replacing a mattress can be near impossible in some RV floor plans.
First thing we did when we bought our new GD Momentum was replace the mattress with a custom RV king innerspring plush mattress made by Verlo Mattress Company
For a 5th wheel/TTrailer King mattress upgrade, I would consider 2 TwinXL Mattresses = King Mattress, easy to move around and easier to change sheets, just use King top sheet and blankets!
The same struggle I had putting a memory foam mattress in my travel trailer.
I bet making that bed was a major chore. Lol! It certainly is in our fifth wheel.

We love our Milwaukee 12 volt vacuum. I think the Dyson is over priced for a RV so the Mikita and the Milwaukee and any others are perfect for the RV life.
Please find an animal shelter to donate that old rv mattress to. Big dogs are in need of them.

You should have tried a Purple mattress! Keeps you nice and cool all night long and super comfortable!
I've opened 2 of those mattresses, 1st one exploded on me like a can of biscuits, the 2nd one I got smart and only cut the outer shrink wrap, it will unroll with a little more control, then you cut/poke a small hole in the vacuum sealed bag to allow air in, and the mattress will slowly inflate.
Sounds like a Goldilocks story “and this one was Just Right”, good episode “All the Comforts of Home” making your trip/adventure all that much better. 👍👍👍

@@mark98070 they sell it at Mattress Firm here in TX. We bought it around 2016 Mike so I hope they still have it and I’m sorry I forgot the model but the key word “Hybrid” might be helpful!
Unfortunately, the heavier and thicker replacement mattresses can also lead to problems getting into your under-bed storage as well as now the surfaces of your nightstands and the bottom of your windows are much lower than the top of the mattress.

I have a 398MBL and put this exact mattress in about a month ago. I can hardly climb into bed now that it’s so high and have to use a step stool. Can hardly lift up the bed now and no way will the shocks hold it.
Should have put it on a hand truck and just rolled it up the stairs and into the bedroom!😜😉🤔

I just purchased a Brooklyn bedding signature hybrid mattress for my 26 RK Jayco white hawk. That is all we have to replace on it. I 'm pretty sure you have wore out some tools on that coachmen. Is anything original on it?

Our bed must be tilted up to close the slide. The original mattress has a break in the mattress to do so a temperpedic topper works but not as well as the needed new mattress. Air or pure foam is the only way, your opinion. KZ 382MBQ
I think they have better mattress's in prison than they put in a new RV. We purchased ours from Wilderness RV mattress for out last 2 travel trailers and have no regrets, wonderful mattress.
We put a Zinus 8" mattress in our camper.

Toppers don’t help a factory junk mattress. Do it right and put in a new upgraded mattress and sleep comfortably.

Yeah, RV mattresses are terrible! We gave up on band-aid with toppers awhile ago. In fact, the last camper we had, ee had a custom Verlo made for it. Our current 5er has a Purple Hybrid 3. Good night's sleep is must, and bad backs and shoulders need good mattresses.
What is the difference between an "RV" mattress and a "residential" mattress?
RV queen is different from regular queen, 4-6 inches shorter I think. Not sure about the king.
We replaced our rv mattress with a Tempur Pedic mattress with the same model we have at home. I wish RVs didn't come with a mattress or at least have a choice in what you want since everyone is different.
You mentioned the mattress being about 110 lbs. is it hard or heavy to lift a corner when putting fitted sheets on?

The OEM mattress was very easy to lift. The new one, not so much. Shoot, the memory foam topper weighs more than the OEM MATTRESS

It's kind of on the soft side (the side we have it on). Might end up flipping it
We bought a similar hybrid mattress on Amazon. We prefer the semi-firm side. MUCH better than what came with the trailer. We also upgraded the struts for the underbed storage to offset the mattress weight.
STAND BACK when you unwrap that baby. It opens in a hurry.

It's harder than the OEM mattress, but when it added the topper, it was harder than it is now

Hybrid mattresses have too much motion transfer. Unless you weigh above 300lbs, a solid memory foam matress is better.
It all depends on your back, we have had Temper mattresses for years, but recently bought a Dunlopillow mattress which has been much more comfortable than our very expensive memory foam one.
