Active Ideas, This is awesome! I subscribed because I want to see more!
You absolute LEGEND ❤️ You’ll be pleased to hear.. more is COMING 😈
great comparison, thank you!
Awh, cheers Mark! 👊🏽
Nice to hear that the 165 is durable. I was a bit concerned about it not having Gorilla glass.
I can further confirm that this thing is built like a tank for such a small watch.: yesterday I took a heavy fall onto concrete during a Hyrox workout. My hands, fingers, legs and knee are all cut and bleeding but this watch despite being strapped crossed the floor hasn’t got a mark on it haha.. well impressive 🔥
Hi mate, great video! I’m struggling to decide between a 165 or 255. I train weights in the gym, as well as cardio and some light running 5k-15k currently. Could you share any advice considering?
Awh mate, thanks a bunch for dropping a comment 🔥👊🏽 Corr it’s a tough one but honestly I just think the 165 is really bad value for money at the moment if you’re in Europe. At nearly £300/€300/$250 🤯I’m dropping a full review in a few days. It’s a great watch but at the price it’s coming in at there’s simply just better options with other companies. If you want to stick with Garmin I’d say save your money and get a reduced 255 or even fantastic 955.. it’s definitely worth checking out eBay too, some WILD deals on there mate, second hand is fine especially if only Using for 5-15km
@@ActiveIdeas I really appreciate your reply mate. I can get the 165 for £249 or the 255 for £244 so price wise is similar, I do quite like the AMOLED lol but hate the 20mm strap size!. Is the 165 good enough for weight lifting?
The 165 is definitely good enough for weightlifting! Pretty durable too.. I've really treated mine like crack and there's still not a mark on it
The 165 isn't boring. It's a great watch for strictly run focused runners who doesn't need all the extra fancy stuff.
You can say that again ❤️ Although.. strictly focused runners would benefit from the extra running metrics you get from the 265 or 955. You don’t get any training status data, no lactate threshold data, no endurance score or hill score. Would be cool to see that sort of stuff, especially for £250 .. I have loved testing it though 🔥
does this watch have daily recommended workouts? Thank you
The forerunner does yes.. for better training metrics I would avoid the vivosctive 🌟 Hope this helps 🔥
How many times does Forerunner 165 vibrate during a call? Because Vivoactive 5 vibrates only twice and it is very bad. I am thinking about a replacement.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m 99% sure the Forerunner will vibrate continuously until you either cancel the call or answer the call. Hope this helps ❤️
One watch is a reason to buy a FR 265,
The other a reason to buy an Venu 3
Hate feature creep with Garmin.
You always want more.
Yeah, the feature creep is WILD. Plus with the price of watches/features over at Coros & Suunto it just makes no sense anymore 🤣 little warning.. as amazing as the 265 is, I’d recommend staying clear as there are just much better options for the money.. even getting an older Garmin such as the 955 would be a better buy 🔥 Venu 3 seems cool though, unique features such as a mic and speaker 🔊
@@ActiveIdeas My own current watch is the FR965 😄 moved up from the Venu 2, which had similar (but not the same) limitations as the VivoActive 5 has. All in all they both helped me to move from being very unhealthy with a VO2 max from around 35 to 45-46 and to lose a lot of weight. Nothing more important than health, and a watch can support you in just doing it.
Man the 965 is like the best watch on the market, I really do miss having that watch to play around with :( Oh man congrats on the MASSSIVE improvement in your VO2max. That's actually unbelievable 🔥 Glad the watch is helping
Also is there a big difference between the venu 3 and vivoactive 5 given that the venu 3 is much more expensive? I don’t really care about the voice functionality and ecg on venu 3 but beside that is there any difference that makes venu 3 much superior than vivoactive 5?
There will be lists of nuance differences. With so many products on Garmin’s smartwatch lineup it can get confusing. Which watch is for you highly depends on what you’re using the watch for!?! 🙈
@@ActiveIdeas I use for gym workout and indoor bike and some road running , maybe some hiking …my main goal is to get my body in shape…and stay healthy….
@brucelin5842 I was 100% all in with you getting the Vivoactive until you mentioned hiking. If you are genuinely considering hiking, at the very minimum I would want a Forerunner 165 on my wrist just so that I could follow a GPX route and not get lost. Again the Vivoactive 5 can’t do this 🔥
@@ActiveIdeas but I also have Apple Watch Ultra 2, I don’t often do hiking maybe like 3 times in a year…
Oh really, that’s like one of the best smart watches on the market.. you want a Garmin too? AS WELL AS the Apple Watch Ultra 2? 🙈 I’m jealous 🔥
The 165 doesn’t have gyroscope! And vivoactive 5 doesn’t have barometer! So which one should I upgrade to coming from the venu sq music …I do most workout inside gym and road running sometimes..but only 5k to 10k..
What is the Gyroscope used for in cheaper Garmin’s? I’ve seen a comment like this before but have no idea what the Gryo actually does.. the 165 will still come with all the super advanced running dynamics which would be great to optimise your running for 5k to 10k 😍
Most don't know what the gyroscope does and don't know what it is. It's hearsay when they compare specs to cheaper models.
🤣🤣 seems to be that way
More accurate movement tracking than just the accelerometer.
Legend 🔥
I'm a bit surprised about the battery life - it should be better according to the specs.
Yeah it’s not great at all unfortunately In terms of battery life 👊🏽🌟
So what actually is the main difference between the two. Why have they released two watches same price differnet names with such little difference
The differences are subtle but as I talk about in the video.. those subtle differences might be good or bad depending on the person. I think massive differences for most people is maps.. if you need basic navigation tools you have to get the Forerunner 165.. apart from that it mostly comes down to design & durability for me.
You ask why they both exist.. it seems to be Garmin’s business model.. make a million & one watches to increase changes of making the perfect watch if individual users. Also the Vivoactive and forerunner brands are very strong and although forerunner & vivoactive used to be very different years ago, as technology has improved their features have converged. Hope this helps 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas thanks man. I’m looking at getting one just for running/exercise. Sleep, calories steps etc all that good health stuff. What one would you recommend?
Sounds like the forerunner 165 to me! It does more for runners 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas cheers man so hard trying to decide. I was thinking about the 55 but it seems a lot further behind the 165, would you say the difference in price is worth it? Or are there any cheaper alternatives with good health and running figurations?
@liamjones5532 do you need the smoked screen? The 255 is a better watch than the 165 is sooo many ways.. plus it’s cheaper
