Thanks!
I own 4 colourboxes. They are secret sauce. Highly recommend.
I have been using ADAT digital I/O since 1997: never had clicks, pops or synching problems of any sort. You simply need good quality optical cables and connectors.
Questions for next time - most cost effective MPE keyboards to match with things like Pigments - Polybrute at £3,300 street is expensive (but 12 voices), OBXa - £1,000 but does it do polyaftertouch well enough, or Seaboard (bit more expensive) - must be others (any less than a grand)? Was great meeting Rob last week in Cambridge - the Polybrute 12 is beautiful (and smaller than I thought it would be). DJs dont know what they are doing - dynamics guys.
Hydrasynth Explorer only £400.
@@spitoondude8370I don't think HS Explorer will do for people that need bigger keyboards (61-88 keys). Are the keys on Explorer full sized? It's 37 keys, right?
@@KlemenKotar For touring no but in the studio its perfect. Great sounding synth for the price.
@@spitoondude8370Sure. I didn't like the Deluxe when I tried it but it is a great synth. Maybe the newish Korg midi keyboard will do. Or when Arturia decide to make midi keys like on PolyBrute 12. No way I can afford the PB12, sadly.
I got a Launchpad-X to get into MPE. Second hand for $150aud. Certainly not the 'keys experience' but it does the job.
The sound issue is a prevailing one currently and largely to do with the current speaker line arrays. The previous midrange speakers have been largely replaced with subs, so there’s a TON of bass, and a sharp highs shelf but a huge missing middle. Sadly the reliance of analysis by the system rather than by ear means it’s not getting corrected/adjusted for mid-gig. Seems to be the norm this year
Aye, the broadcast sound at Glastonbury festival was lacking this year as was the choice of headliners. Saying that I'm positive the smaller stages smashed it as per.
EDIT. Just watched Balming Tiger and it sounds mint....I also appear to have an unhealthy liking for them.
Dante may have won the digital race for PA and Event space, in broadcast AES67/ravenna is out on top.
Great show!
I don’t like effects on my synth. While I typed that out I realized I love the chorus on the Juno-60 but it still stands for reverb and delay.
cool as always
Sampha was my Glasto highlight, but the sound elsewhere was exactly as described by Yoad
Oh yes I saw them. Great. Excellent bass player and drummer
The thing I don't like with the catering shelves is the synth feet always catch in the grid. Consider putting down some thin ply or plastic sheet or something if you use those.
That is so true. And the little synths slip over 😀
39:02 - 2i2 Nick - have you tried the Gen 4 Scarlett range? Excellent vastly-upgraded audio quality, encoders for the input gains now, it's a far better prospect. Loving mine.
All this about ADAT being old-skool - I love ADAT. Project studio, the RME Digiface USB is just wonderful.
Shout out the the Creamware SCOPE system Yoad! Sonic Core still going, rising from the ashes of Creamware. SCOPE v7 software release a couple of years ago that you can buy, that runs on the old PCI cards, and on their 1U Xite-1 hardware platform that you can also buy, with a fully-featured SDK... The sound quality of Ocean Swift, John Bowen, and Adern devices today in 2024 on SCOPE remains stellar. The depth and width of the sound... Heck, FXpansion, Brainworx and Relab developers all started building devices on SCOPE. Sucked in by the promises of VST - and heck, they backed the right horse...
Still - "from my cold, dead hands", prize the SCOPE PCI cards running in an old computer here from me.
We did review the rack one some time back. I think the earlier Scarletts were perhaps not all that focusritey if thats a word 0 you know what I mean ?
@@sonicstate Yeah. Not sure how focusritey the Gen 4 is myself, but IMO it’s a noticeable step up in audio quality..
Ferrofish+ rme
Proper choices 👍
Absolutely! I'm using a RME hdspe Raydat in combination with a Ferrofish Pulse 16 in my personal studio with excellent results.
Bubble gum festival
NI 61 MKiii is £849 with their komplete basic pack if its just a controller you need and has better looks and controls than the Korg an way better keybed than any of the Hydra models. I'd kill for Hydra Deluxe with a better quality keybed. The instrument chassis may be sturdy enough, but very clunky keybed. The Korg may be ok if they used a Fatar bed, but I don't think threy spcified what keybed it uses. Aparently they use Fatar beds in their Pa5 which is very sturdy build but only standard AT on those and cost an arm and a leg, a kidney and your 1st born.
You wouldn't get a PA5x if you were shopping for a controller keyboard for software, and not interested in arranger keyboards.
Behringer made an eight channel interface with adat years ago. Does that mean Arturia are copying them??
The same Arturia that made their business out of copying synthesisers, albeit in software.
No I dont think so, there have been ADAT io boxes for ever - but those Behringers are handy, we've got one and used it before we got the 8 Ch AES50 stagebox for the X32
If people are watching glasto on CZcams then why pay tv licence (tv tax) ? 😂
Because the BBC pay a huge amount to get the rights and for the production too
@@sonicstate I wonder where they get all that money from 😜
@@olivergroves2007 yeah obviously but without it, there would be no Glasto coverage and a lot more besides. What does a years worth of netflix cost?
Pure negative marketing in Ub-xa.... not nice
