Brings tears to my eyes. I bought one exactly like that when I got home from Vietnam. I had a lot good times in that car. Thanks for recording it for us. The horn is epic. I recognized it immediately. Take care of it, I envy you. Good luck.
Third car i ever owned. Body was all bondo, A family of mice had lived in the trunk and the paint was multicolor....and i loved that goddamn car! this one is awesome
The only thing it needed was that right headlight. As close to perfection as Chevrolet could get for the price. I can't help but love these old cars when they're done right, and this one definitely was!
So nice. My first car was a 69, got it in 74. Started as a 307, ended up with a 350, extremely modified by my dad. Sold it for a 74 trans am, wish I still had both
I grew up in the 60s and seventhere's I know about my hot rods and we would give our I t's to have one of those beautiful novas, With a sweet sounding 396 cubic inch Motor❤❤❤
Great car! Sounds like might need to adjust lifters a little bit of tapping(unless slight exhaust leak) Beautifully restored. I had a 68 SS Chevy2 regret selling. Especially when I come across these videos of someone showing off there machine. Thanks for the video.
1st car was a 74 nova.Burgundy with a white landau top.Kept it stock had a 350cid engine with a stock 4 barrel carb, auto trans ran great.Always have been partial to any pre 75 novas.Next vid take her out and lets she whats shes made of lol.
This is one of my dream cars, but I will probably never get the chance to own one because of collectors, who compete with each other's wallets and jack prices of these cars up, so high that they cost far more than brand new muscle cars -- and for what? Too sit in a room and collect dust. My only hope is that one day, all these old collectors will die of old age, and their family who inherit these cars will sell them for peanuts so I can enjoy these cars the way they are meant too be enjoyed.
I had a 70 nova and that was the only thing I hated bout my car was the 2 speed wipers soaked windshield in rain x to repel water treated a lot of the problems
A friend of mine bought a new one like this in 69 and the cam sounded like this from the factory. The 375 hp (under rated) was fast and had a massive amount of torque. I remember you could chirp the tires in all 4 gears at any speed. He kept twisting the drive shaft lose from the pinion until he replaced the straps that held the u joint to the pinion with the stronger u bolt set up like the older cars had. It was just a weak point from the factory. They tried to save a dollar as usual. It always wanted to walk sideways to the right coming off the line. Very fast car.
@@JT-SE-OHIO I owned a 1970 in 1972 that was factory stock 375HP and it rattled the windows . My mother came out one morning and gave me hell....hahaha !!
See, you CAN have a working heater core in your musclecar!! Everyone, please take note. Having working heat\defroster is a good thing. You gain zero horsepower eliminating heat.
I would guess the factory solid lifter cam for the L78 375 HP.Going by the sound.I installed that factory L78 cam in my 350hp SS 396 Chevelle. It sounds about the same.My opinion.
Stock one for the 375 hp it sounds like. In this time period you could buy a drag car from the factory. You could just walk in the dealer and order what you wanted instead of buying one that someone else decided what they thought customer's wanted. You could choose the trim level, the engine ci and hp, which trans, posi, gearset, wheels and tires, which cooling and charging system, what level suspension and brakes and then the comfort items like seats, ps, pb, pw, tilt, etc. What a lot of people didn't realize is the SS was just a trim package. They came standard with a 6 cyl, bench seat and 3 on the tree unless you ordered otherwise from the previous stuff I mentioned. This Nova is fast and has awesome torque if it's like the new one (69 model) I drove a lot back in the day, Not many survived because they would get away from the driver because of the amount of power/torque they had compared to their weight. Most of the 396's were the 325 or 350 hp and no so many 375's which I think were under rated. I believe they were more like 425 hp. You would know what I'm say'n if you ever drove one. One fast car!
Hey Gord Nash I come from Port Alberni we used to kick deny moles ass when we drag raced especially on the Long Beach Highway I own the 70 Nova with a factory 402 and a Muncie 4-speed Rock Crusher with a 411 rear end I don't remember ever losing a race these Nova's here don't have the power mine had but they're sure nice looking cars mine also have the solid black console down the middle and all my gauges were down there my Nova four gear rubber no problem!! 👍🖕
Awesome Nova!!!!👍Please check out my 1968 Barracuda fastback powered by a rowdy 512 stroker backed by an A833 4 speed manual. I think you'll approve. 👌
I don’t know how anyone would a thumbs down on this beautiful Nova

Solid lifters make that sound even when well adjusted, especially prior to full warm up and the pushrods haven't fully expanded.
Beautiful. Gorgeous color too.

@Charlene Anderson That's crazy bout the car stalling in rain be in the future getting another nova when life allows me too many good memories
@Charlene Anderson sounds like moisture getting in the distributor cap and misfiring the car to the point of stalling it.
What size are the tires and wheels on this
👍
Wow!!! So nice!! What is the size of tire ?
I would really like to know what cam that is, and the specs
