This country loves to say “that was a long time ago, get over it”! This is part of the reason why ADOS folks are angry. Most have family members still alive who lived through this Terrorism. This happened all over the country when black folks pulled themselves up by they’re bootstraps and worked hard. This beautiful grandmother at 107 still remembers, my family still remembers. Some of the comments in this section are disgusting, uneducated and racist. Childhood memories, especially traumatic ones, are not easily forgotten; I have course memories from the age of 5 on and have spoken to many elderly people who have clear memories of their childhoods. The event happened, it is undeniable and has been proven; the numbers were underreported to down play the severity of the massacre. I refuse to address all the stupidity posted here so I'll end on this, bless these survivors, I'm glad they have lived this long and I hope they live long enough to see justice.

Not really an equivalent situation. This was a whole community, many shot and killed merely because of skin color, driven from their homes which were looted and burned. As opposed to a few businesses burned, very few deaths, in fact the actual shooting done towards protestors by someone who should have counter protested, not shot people. I have not seen crowds of women and children in Portland who were driven from their homes by guns and fire like what happened in Greenwood. I am probably wasting my time trying to help you see a difference that you would most likely not want to truly see. I have not seen suburbs in Portland being invaded by armed marauders willing to shoot to kill anyone they choose.

They heard from three witnesses that were at the massacre. They are all 100+ years old and are the law of the survivors.

@@jasonwilson3057 What makes you so sure that it was not a massacre? There have been other testimonies from survivors prior to their deaths that it was indeed a massacre. If you listened to the most recent testimonies of the remaining survivors, only the man was a toddler at the time. The women were 6 and 7. People surely do remember major and traumatic events that occurred at that age especially when they impact the remainder of their lives. Stop making light of an event that caused so much pain for these people and their descendants.
