A genuine, moving speech by Theresa May, didn't think I'd ever say that but this is the best speech I've seen so far today, it clearly came from her heart how much she looked up to the Queen predominantly as a person.
WELL DONE INDEED GOD BLESS QUEEN ELIZABETH THE GREAT.
Had she spoken like this when she was PM, she’d likely still be PM

Unlike many PMs, May always came across as genuine. And she wasnt afraid to cry and be exactly who she is to show her patriotism. When I heard her break into tears as she resigned and said the country she loved, I didnt think "Oh heres the woman coming out crying in her." I thought "Ah, its healthy for real men to cry." Then I realized shes not a man, and quickly ammended it to "I think I can trust a leader who cries for their country."
Speaking as a total labourite, I have to say this was a fantastic speech. Theresa's comic timing was sheer class.
Right?! Lifetime lefty here, but I did think -- where was this personality, confidence, charisma during her premiership?! This was impressive, and really really lovely.

I’m not a fan of Theresa or the tories but I have to say this was an amazing tribute to the Queen. Compassionate and appropriately funny.

See what happens when she speaks the way she really feels? This was a great tribute from Theresa May! Not the robotic PM I remember, she spoke from her heart and I enjoyed listening to her on this occasion.
I agree with you. The speech that he made in tribute of the Queen is one of her best speeches and that's because she spoke from her heart. It's the same case with her other speeches that she had a direct hand in, e.g. the ones she made before being PM and after being PM. When she was the PM, the reason why her speeches didn't sound so sincere was thanks to the speechwriters that she got; they did not capture her essence well enough to be able to produce her a speech that was truly hers. If ever she gets another go at being PM, I hope she gets directly involved with her speeches this time (just like Margaret Thatcher did; that was the reason why people could be engaged with her speeches even if they did not agree with it).

Why did they edit her speech. The cheese story was more fun in its original form. "I looked at her, she looked at me, I looked at her, she looked at me...." 😃
This speech by Theresa May is possibly the best she ever made. She has captured the very essence of why the Queen was so special.
The mould is smashed: they don’t make them like that anymore.

What a speech, and a modest delivery. Theresa May is very down to earth, it is a shame we had her in as a PM during a difficult transition in the UK. Never thought I would be saying this!
She’s 10x better than Boris, truss and rishi. But had to carry the can for Brexit. Knifed by her own party. Can’t wait to see the back of them…

Of all the tributes I had heard these past days, Former PM May was the most sincere and struck a chord to the hearts of everyone else.

I got say that was a quality speech from her
If her speeches and actions as PM were as thought out and caring as this speech, she would still be a PM. This was truly moving, genuine and of a caring, unseen side of her. May her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II be remembered as our constant and the reign of King Charles III continue her legacy while creating his own. God save the King.

I honestly think during her service as PM, she listened to others more than herself, this was clear with the GE she called, as her advisors told her she would win a landslide, when in the end, she didn't.
Brexit also didn't help, many different camps to which the hard brexiters won, Heck, this is evident with Jacob Reese Mogg, and what he said about her result at the confidence vote, she had higher vote than Boris did in his own Confidence vote, but JRM slated Theresa and praised Boris.
She fell victim to Party Politics and its honestly upsetting.
Usually do not listen to speeches from her but it was a good one

This is one of the best speeches I ever saw.
A year later, this is the speech I love most in reverence of the late Queen. Not because I am a particular fan of Theresa May ( I live on the European continent, so how could I) - but I have to admit Theresa May brought so much true emotion and humour to her speech. What an accomplished story teller! And these anecdotes and laughter is the best way to remember Her Majesty - she loved a good laugh!

What a truly amazing speech, one to go down in history and memory. One to mark one of the saddest moments in British history, a moment as others have said was inevitable but somehow I hoped would never happen. As a person who has admired Theresa May for a long time, this is the best speech that she has ever made in her career as an MP. Not to mention this is the best tribute to the Queen that came from a former Prime Minister. She really summed up how respected the Queen is for most people (as most people respect her predominantly as a person rather than as an embodiment of the British monarchy). Listening to her tribute, it's no wonder that she and the Queen respected each other mutually - they were able to get along so well.

I think you can get her to do speeches but she's not cheap - ex presidents and prime ministers earn more from speaking engagements then they ever got paid doing their job

Beautiful speech. It has never occurred to us that, there was a commonwealth, and a country, before we lived.. and that... our diplomacies.. were built on those promises as well....
It has also never occurred to me that, the videos which are circulating the media now.. the promise of that... to others, when she was a child.... Have now turned us into the position whereby, these children are also now giving us this speech.
What a marvellous speech coupled with fond memories. I can just see the Queen smiling at her when she put the cheese back on the table.
