- When Ducati lends you a brand new Desert Sled for three weeks, there's only one thing to do - ride over 500 miles on it, both on and off-road. Here's Gareth and Dutch's review.

Spot ON. I just got one and it's been surprisingly capable on dirt. Love it.
This video was like listening to myself explain why I got one!
Great points about this Ducati Model, less plastics and more simple looks Im thorn between this motorbike and the BWM scrambler I don't have much experience off roading but I still love this motorbike for the the daily commute.Great reviews, cheers
Wow - this is big step in the right direction - much better than the previous models
I’ve owned several bikes over the years, and I’d say this is one of the best, easy and fun to ride and more than capable on dirt roads too 10/10
I love this bike so much. I am making my Iron 1200 similar to this when I get it but want to test ride this still.
I bought one the other day, used (2019 with only 685 miles on it). Very tall bike. Had it going 103 mph (highway) up a very long and steep hill. It is a beast.
Nice little vid. Keep it up!
Just re-watched this. ...good review! . I'm so tempted. ..test ride next me thinks. I've never owned a Ducati before so it's a bit of an unknown re reliability etc....Steve
Been looking for a tall riders review... putting my order in. Thanks for a great review. Sub'd.
2:52 “play silly buggers” sets off my Alexa on my phone 😂
I hope you guys do a lot more reviews. It was really helpful a la Revzilla reviews
We'll be publishing videos at least 3 times a week from now onwards.
Beautiful
Seems like a really nice bike - sat on one in the showroom and I could tell it was a lot more realistic as a dual-sport than most offerings with Scrambler in the name. The Husky 701 is much, much more of a weapon but this has far, far broader appeal. My WR250R would spank it once the tarmac runs out but the Duke has the looks, the pedigree and the charisma. They'll shift loads.
It was pretty ok in the desert in spain too...
Thank you for the video.
Can someone do a Steve McQueen/Great Escape theme on that bike...headlight, seat, carrier, silencer, olive green paint - the whole package?
Love it , just the way it is .
Great work guys!
Nice bike
Thanks for the review. It’s a great looking bike.
I kept waiting to hear you tell more of the technical specs, but you never did.
What is the engine displacement? What is the seat height? What is the cost?
Allen Hare I have the same bike in this vid. It has a 803 cc engine. Seat height is about 33 inches but settles down a bit when you sit on it. I’m 5’10” and can flat foot it. Paid $10700 for mine last year. It was a new 2017.
Looking forward to a tricked out one . After a year of waiting !
hope to see a custom version of it! I own one of these, i love it
I want this but im just 170cm tall :( how could i lower it to gain balance when idling
@@grazryan You could get a seat with less padding in the front so you can use that when flat-footing and jump to a center position when riding. I'm 200cm tall and is having issues with finding a slightly taller seat to fit me 😅
@@marremane thank you!
I get mine in September....
Do like these, one of the more authentic scramblers you can see all of the styling cues from the 70's 450 scramblers
Is there a way to lower this bike? Im just 170 tall, i may have difficulty balancing it when idling.
Is there footage of Gareth actually hitting the green lanes so we can see how the bike performs and the type of terrain you've taken it through?
Only what's in the video already. He had a camera mounted on the bike.
oh ok. Could make a cool future video. Plus it's a good reason to get him out on the bike again ;)
I've got a few videos of me riding off road with mine, once my knee heals I'm planning to take it on some single track!
Matthew Dawson
Awesome. Are your vids on CZcams? Where do you ride? I’m planning in the process of getting a Desert Sled but don’t know where the best places are in the UK to ride.
Vincent Kruse they are on my channel, and I'm in the US, Virginia to be exact.
Is the scrambler bike suitable for a short guy like me - i'm 5'7
I'm 5'8"-5'9" with boots and I am on my toes on this bike. You can get a shorter seat though. that may help.
is this too big for riders under 6 foot though ?
Hrmm. I'm 6ft, rode one for an hour and it was very cramped in the leg area, so have no idea how someone at 6ft 4 can say it was comfortable. 207kg and full of expensive bits, it would be a 'do everything' just about bike. It's a gravel road and tarmac bike. Very cool looking I will admit though.
What did you end up buying ? Im a tall guy looking for a scrambler style bike
Yamaha T7. No regrets.
@@scoutrenegade6761 how tall are you ? Just wondering if it's comfortable for 6ft+ riders
The Ducati? No it’s not comfortable. You know that thing where you ride and then you need to stretch out your leg every so often and there’s tension in the knee? Well that’s the feeling of riding that bike. It’s the seat to peg height which isn’t great and only thing you can do is get a seat concept seat with extra height, or try find a way to lower the pegs without affecting ground clearance etc....
"Simplify, see how much you can take off and leave in a box in the addict that will follow you around for the next few years" -- My Motorcycle journey in a sentence.
I want it. I want it so bad
I want one but I'm 170cm (5'7").
Bad idea or what?
Test ride one and see. And realise that most bikes can be lowered an inch without much drama.
Bike Shed Motorcycle Club I finally sat on one. They are really not that yall:) All is good and thanks for the response !
Great bike for us tall guys, but of all the scrambler choices, Ducati offers no options or accessories to configure your new bike. Triumph and BMW have so many options...
Quanto è alta la persona più bassa dei due?
Hi from india
Ducati made a better new version of the Yamaha XT500 than Yamaha did :'D
sled at the shed
XT500 but too heavy
00:30 dude everything is tiny for you
A bit of an interface…. Do you mean you bashed your heels….
“Review”.... now that’s a stretch
Nice bike and the turn signal switch is pure shit
Enjoy the cambelt changes and the valve clearance checks every service. Nice bike, though. And it does look like my old XT500E. I wouldn't buy one.
1990 belt changes are easy on the air/oil cooled ducatis as are the valve shims even though they’re desmo.
It’s the watercooled superbike engined ducatis that are a pain in the ass to work on, valve maintenance are usually 3 day services on em.
i like the shorter one because i am short and saying its more manly because its taller is rude. have you seen female volleyball players I guess they're manly no ?
