  • not much footage as there's loads of videos out there on stripping down the front end.
just wanted to show a few pointers that I struggled with not knowing where stuff was or how to do it

Just had the bill for my Vivaro starter motor replacement from my local garage which they said they had to remove the front end to carry out this process…and here I am just making sure it was actually fact 😂
Can’t believe you aren’t able to change a starter motor from a more accessible area 🤦‍♂️😂
Good job btw you saved a few quid there in labour that’s for sure
Oh and also couldn’t believe the price of a Vivaro starter motor £199+ vat ffs 😣

Yeah they are not cheap but fortunately for me before I became a window cleaner I use to recondition starter motors and alternators so collected them first so I could swap over straight away and get back on the road

Hi all, can the starter motor be changed from underneath without removing the front and the radiator ect....?
    Thanks

I'm not sure I don't think so a lot of garages all said the front end has to come off when I was getting quotes

Do you have a video that shows how to strip down the front part to acess the alternator or do you know if a Movano van is similar to stripdown? I want to do the same in my van but I am strugling to find a stripdown video for a movano online.

I don't sorry but I think it's the same on the Renault master alternator change so maybe try that sorry I can't help more maybe try asking a local garage they might advise you

My local mechanic has kept me sorted thru my parcel multidrop years; starter motors, EGR valves, EGR coolers (no I’d never heard of it either 🤷🏻), fuel sender unit inside fuel tank, multiple power steering pipes, they keep bursting ffs… never had to take a day off. I better buy him a case of beer while the sun is out 🍻🍻🍻

I like fixing my own van I also like to supply my own parts if a mechanic is working on it I know quality parts are going on then rather than budget parts

You have not had much luck with that van but at least you knew where to get reconned parts and fit them, so much better than having to rely on a garage to fix. What a stupid design having to remove so much for what are consumable components! I remember when Vauxhall designed stuff to be serviced as quick as possible - old astra clutch in 30 mins - I am surprised fleet buyers don't vote with their feet!
Anyway great job getting the van back on road.

Thanks Ched it was a tough job but take your time and you'll be fine but it is a bad design well that's why they do it so you hopefully go to a main dealer.
Don't know if all vans are like that but the Traffic, vivaro and primastar are all the same van just badged differently

Why is the location of starter motor different on 2013 vivaro

    • @completeexteriorcleaningse750
      @completeexteriorcleaningse750  Před 8 měsíci

I think it depends on the engine size as well but I heard afterwards that some are easy to change but I'm not a mechanic sorry thanks for watching
