A man with words after my own heart! Excellent points I can respect of your final thoughts as to "Why LightBurn"...
Efficiency is hugely important to any business in every way it can be had and can ultimately make the difference in success or failure.
One of my pet peeves is when someone accuses someone else of "always trying to get out of work"... I always tell them if that's the case they want to present, then they should start walking everywhere since the wheel was designed for that very reason.

I have been using RD works for my china laser engraver for almost five years and have loathed it from the start. It's slow feature lacking and when they patch one pug or add a minor feature they screw up something else that was working fine. The past few months I've been telling myself if I ever find software that works with my laser and reasonably priced I would buy it and after using the demo it's money well spent. To the light burn team, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Once I started using LightBurn I never went back to RDWorks. It is very easy to learn and works great. I have a dual Laser MORN laser system - 150 watt/80 watt and a Z platform that moves about 24 inches vertically and it seems to handle Z axis changes just fine. I HIGHLY recommend Lightburn if you are serious about your laser work.

Very nice. I absolutely love lightburn paired with my topwisdom controller. You are making it much more user friendly and efficient for us to use our laser machines. Thank you!

Hi, I'm considering getting a laser cutter/engraver, I'm completely new, never done or had anything like this and was wondering how easy it is to pick up and use??
    Thanks

New user to LB. It is just a mind blowing thought experiment wondering how it can be so responsive. Having dealt with graphics related programs that show that jumpiness from refresh to refresh, well, it is a refreshing relief to that part of my brain that has to process the images it sees. My brain thank you for all your efforts, and my stomach thanks you for sparing it the nausea associated with that jumpiness.
When i bought my laser i saw the price on the software and thought, that's a bit pricey, but when i finally got it installed and started noodling around with it, i kind of felt like it wasn't you ripping me off, but me ripping you off.
    👍🏻

Does it works with K40 laser cutter with original board? It is 'nano' something, don't remember exact name.

I had to replace my leetro controller because it was failing. After installing a ruida controller and discovering lightburn, I wish I had done it sooner.

The instructional videos and excellent documentation are the reasons to pay for Lightburn license.
And then you get an excellent software too.

Just receintly tried your software and I have no idea what the people are smoking to pay $120 for this. Yes, cosmetically a bit nicer, it also has maybe 10% of extra features compared to RDW 8.0. Vector editor is as basic as it goes, so I never use it being fluent with Corel anyways. $60 was maybe okay, but pushing it, but $120? no thanks.
With all that said it failed to connect to my RUIDA controller via network, while ping was perfectly going through, and even when it unreliably did connect occasionally, it would drop packets for no reason and I ruined 2 parts when this stupid software would send half file to machine and machine would start the job after only half file was received. Needless to say, even for beta software that is free it would kinda suck, so much more so for a software that wants your $120 for it.
It also misinterpreted vectors many times while RDW read them fine. For some reason LB would show them as open profiles while they were clearly closed in every other SW.
Again, aside from a better language inside the software and repositioning of existing RDW features I was not able to see any difference whatsoever.

There are lots of features that RDW doesn't have, such as SVG and PDF importing, support for modern AI files, drag & drop, and much more, but if you're using Corel for creation you won't see as much benefit.
The network connection errors you mentioned are quite likely fixed in the next update - there was code that assuming a network MTU size, and that has been fixed.
Regarding the mis-interpreted files, were they DXFs? Corel doesn't export them with connectivity information, so you have to have "Auto join" enabled for them to come in connected. Using AI or SVG is a better choice for vector exports, as the curve information will be retained. If you send an email to support@lightburnsoftware.com with one of your files, we'd be happy to check it to make sure it's being interpreted correctly.
Once you start getting into more complex files with lots of vectors, you'll find LightBurn has more features for managing the cut order, and generates job data much faster. I'm also curious if you were using the current release - some of the issues you described have been problems in the past, but not for a while now.
