    Thanks. For many many years, I always thought the high level inputs were for HPF input. Above the LPF cutoff. Such as if you were using the amp, not for subs, but for tweeters. But in escence, its like a line level input, and low level is akin to a phono input? Am I right?

    Hello I have a 2017 F150 with the sync system. The voltage of the speaker outs range from 0v to 8v depending on the volume level on the stock head unit. My amplifier supports up to 8v inputs can I just slap on some RCA connectors on the front left and front right outputs from the factory radio and connect it to my amplifier? Or do I need a Hi-Lo converter?

    Hi Dean and Fernando. My head unit only has 4 rca outputs ( front & rear/sub). I'd like to run 2 amps. One mono amp for my subs and a 4channel for the mids and highs. My 4channel supports high level inputs. I want to retain balance and fader while still having subwoofer control through the head unit. Will I be sacrificing sound quality by using this method to connect to my speakers? Is there another way to do this. Thanks in advance

    So is high/low level soley based off of voltage? Or is watts part of the equation? Reason I ask is I'm only getting 2 volts from my speaker output on my factory harley davidson head unit and all the bike shops are telling me to select hi level input on my dsr1. But when I do that the gains are 90% up and I get alot of amplifier noise. And it sounds much better with the dsr1 set to low level 2v input. But I have warrantied 3 sound digital amps that have started cutting out. Wondering if selecting low level is hurting the amps. And with low level 2v selected in the dsr1 im getting about 3.8v out of the dsr1

I'm using a DMM to measure the max voltage and when the radio volumen is all the way up, it displays 4.1 Vrms using a 1 kHz, 0 db test tone. Is this enough voltage to work with the amplifier since I think I'm not getting the max output from it. Also, what will happen if the speaker level input are reversed? Thanks

I wish Dean would write a book on different ways to install car radios and why they are different with lots of diagrams. Better yet, I wish there was a web site where you can punch in all the audio components you are using in your car , the make of your car, radio, and amp, and it would do all the calculations hence tell you what size wires you need, length, and especially it would tell you why one way of wiring a radio is different than another and the best way to go.

      @@FiveStarCarStereoInc Okay soo I've got a question for you guys... And that question is; I have an aftermarket touch double din. So what i want to know is; yes I have RCA inputs for front rear and sub and high level input from the harness obviously. So what do you honestly think gives out the best audio output...? For me to hook up RCA's or to run the high level wires and solder & hear shrink em to the wires on the harness in the back of my unit...? Also wanted to know but I mean im pretty sure you kinda explained it in this video and other people have in other videos, but I want to be 1000% sure to not do something completely unnecessary or ruin something... But anyways, if I decide to hook up via "high level input," right... Do I still need to hook up any RCA wires at all? (& That's for hooking my fronts and backs to the amplifier.) Or is that honestly the whole freaking intended point 😄of using "high level inputs" is when you either don't want or have no RCA inputs in a say... Stock radio...? Right? Sorry for such a possibly confusing and long message I've just been looking all over the internet and can't seem to get a 100% straight answer to what I just asked it's usually close to what I want to know but not exact.

    • @fullpeladas
      @fullpeladas Před 2 lety

      You need a distortion detector like smd dd1 .use radio speaker line to read playing a 0 db track at 40hz. Turn radio volume until red light turn s on dd1 then back radio volume until light just goes off. That's your radio volume . Example volume 30 is clean.then on your loc,(line-out converter) there's a volume & bass adjustment. Use dd1 at rca lines out of loc adjust volume on loc until light comes on on dd1 then back the volume just before the light is on still using the 0 db at 40hz tone. Now you set the gains on radio& loc. Now at the amplifier you will disconnect speakers & play a -10 db 40hz tone for the bass amplifier. While putting the volume 30 on radio because you know is clean signal. Starting with amplifier volume from 0 put the dd1 lines on amplifier speaker terminals, start raising volume until light comes on at dd1 then back just before it turns on now you set the gains. If you wanna do 4 channel amplifier do the same only difference is you would play a -5 db tone at 1k. Now you all set . To get ideas watch setting gains on smd dd1 by Steve meade hope this helps because I know I had to research and self taught 😀 enjoy your day
