"Oh so it's not about talent?" "In America we have to be more down to earth... " Really?
+Lucaria this cracked me up too
+Lucaria she's and *cough* idiot *cough*
"We're trying to send a message." O_o
Come on guys she didn't say it like it that. She's just confused about how it works and the down to earth comment she didn't mean it like that. She was obviously flustered and couldn't come up with the right words for it.
+lilla syster Guys, don´t be that intolerant torwards her.. I mean, maybe her definition of "message" is more about boobs, butts and sucking cooks instead of peace, equal rights, standing in for weaker people and being an unity... just an idea ;-)
There's a reason why we have Australia in The Eurovision Song Contest and not the USA...
+Cathy Guimarães xD Yeah
If america join, then eurovision could better stop
The Auzies were only in it for the 60 the aniversary special
+Cameron Jones Nope they Will be in this/next year too tho
Slay
The gratest thing about Eurovision is that USA can't participate
Ikr
+Achai Jones Totally agree, Australia is alright but fuck the USA.
+Byeah Byeahington would be just the same if sweden sent for example Avicci (which isnt allowed)
:(
would you imagine that? haha
"us we kinda like to be more down to earth" oh honey lemme tell you that's not what the rest of the world thinks of you.
+Hannah Andersen preach!
As an American, I could not agree with you more XD.
this woman is living exemple why people disslike america
your doesn't *****

Yesssss
+Marty toofree I live in the U.S. and I think it's like the cocky quarter-back on the football team that everyone pretends to like to get ahead, but secretly hates. But then there's our pride... even though we dislike our own country and complain about it all the time, we'd still stick up for it (even when wrong). Land of the free, home of the aggravating. It's stupid, I know, but it won't ever change.
+Marty toofree I don't know about that. But the Eurovision song contest is an example of why Americans think that Europe is a little weird.
She's talking about Måns like he's never sang before :o kinda patronising. Yes American girl, people outside of US does get famous.
M33pblub it's really just another singing show like idol...with people who are already famous competing right? Is it more lame or less lame? They are all shit!
OH i had respect for you there until the last line :o close one...I almost answered!
I just hate all competition and reality shows...apart from comic relief!
comic relief
M33pblub agreed, so condescending and kind of disrespectful...
Wanna hear a joke.
Americans are down to earth
When they get buried maybe
+++++
hahaha that was a good one! 👌
+Tiago Morais Fuckin SAVAGE!!
😂👍🏼
Anyone else looking in the comments after the video because you got offended by that annoying woman?
me!
All of us :'D I really don't get offended easily, but her behaviour in this entire video was too...patronising, I guess, but in an ignorant sort of way.
+Lienhard CS:GO I didn't even watch the video, I already saw in the comments that this woman would offend the Europeans, so I decided to not watch the video at all xD
+Sweet Serenade xX (XxMovieCatssxX) well played indeed :D
Lienhard CS:GO who do you think will win this year? :)
I'm actually kinda offended by her. She's so patronizing!
And honestly? American music always have a message? You're joking right?
+feliciiaab Are you kidding? American music has a perfect message! It's that all you need is a big butt, big boobs, and a shit ton of money.
Read between the lines.
T.C. Braeburn Oh, sorry. My bad. Guess I'm too shallow to understand such a deep message ;)
feliciiaab
Clearly, lol. Sounds like someone's got a case of "integrity," our music executives can help with that problem, tho :)
T.C. Braeburn Haha, yeah. This is clearly an issue. o:
+T.C. Braeburn the candy shup, my fav rap song. so deep.
I'm not even that big a fan of the ESC, but when she said American music always has a message I laughed out loud
same
MY ANACONDA DONT WANT NUN UNLESS YOU GOT BUNS HUN!!!
+Jennyfisch Murican ignorance at its finest ;)
+Jennyfisch To be fair, maybe she just happens to listen to the American music that has a message, and misses everything else.
I mean, hey, if my country's music had Coolio, Notorious B.I.G. and Green Day, I'd think that our music was heavy on message as well.
+Jennyfisch What message can send the "Wiggle" song?
The "gay superbowl"?? lol.. are you nuts? The ESC stands for, love, peace and humanity... 3 words what 99% of americans don´t know the meaning of it! Stay where u are with war and Fastfood...
+MinmatarDE It's a long gay superbowl half-time show. The target demographic is women and and gay guys. At least 2 transvestites have won it.
+St4rdog it´s a show for all people if gay or not.. but much people in the world are still primitive and antiquated in their way of thinking. No one needs those people anymore!
St4rdog the whole point of the show was to stop a divide between countries after the second world war... THIS being at a time where being gay or trans wasn't so ok in society. Only being camp and fabulous is a recent thing in the contest, nothing more. So your comment has no substance.
"So it's like superbowl?" No. The first Super Bowl was on 1967 and the first Eurovision contest was on 1956... Better said: Super Bowl is like Eurovision 😉😉😉
maria que cañera
Joke of the day: "American pop music tries to send a message..."
NIKU MINAJ WITH SONG ANACONDA IS SENDING A GREAT AMERICAN MESSAGE)))) WE AS EUROPEANS SHOULD THINK THAT ALL AMERICAN CULTURI IS ABOUT FAT ASS????
If you look outside of the mainstream pop, rap, etc there's some pretty good stuff. But most pop and rap music is kinda crappy no matter where it's from in my opinion.
+Samuel Sandlund Have they heard of Running one? And heroes had a pretty good message. It's literally her fault she doesn't see it
+Rivka G you named one of the artist who actually use their music to send a message, Lady Gaga... You may not like her appearence but she has very meaningful songs, "Til it happens to you", "Born this way", "Hair"...
I don't judge by appearance, I just don't quite like Lady Gaga's attitude and the way she acts, as I find it annoying. And I am not going to lie, more than one of her songs have served as guilty pleasures of mine at one point or another. And let's not forget the fact that she copies off of Madonna. I do like Madonna:-) And not as a guilty pleasure...
Ok, I'm European and I always watched Eurovision, but seriously - wtf is Superbowl?
Vict0r1984 It's the annual AMERICAN Football championship of professional teams in US compete for the title. The teams come each from a different State even though sometimes two different teams from the same state might compete. The final match is pretty much a holiday in which pretty much everyone stop what they're doing to watch it.
If you ask me whether Eurovision is like Super Bowl, my answer is NO. There is no building bridges, only rivalries, football fans getting into fights, and games that can drag on for hours with constant interruptions.
The only similarities are the red carpet and press conference with the players just like Eurovision has with the singers. Trust me, Eurovision is much better than Super Bowl. I wish we had something like that in the Americas rather than just being stuck with the same American songs.
Vict0r1984 Superbowl is several hours of cheesy commercials interrupted a couple of times by some guys playing some sports.
mzm153 The Russian girl was crying and drinking since a ton of the audience was booing and being douches like she RUNS Russia or something. Doesn't seem like many people cared about building THAT bridge. lol
dynelol
Just because the idea is to build bridges doesn't mean that the whole audience get the memo. Yeah, watching them booing Polina did make me angry too. It's my first time watching Eurovision and I got pretty disappointed after watching Polina being treated so badly :-(
mzm153 Everybody I've told about Eurovision so far has heard nothing about it but I'm trying to get more people into it. Perhaps if they let the USA into the competition, we'll replace Russia as the "big bad" lol
No girl... it's neither the Superbowl nor American Idol... not every event in the world is about America!!!!
Hannah W plus, America Idol was from Pop Idol, a competition in the UK.
Hannah W she was just comparing it with something she is familiar with, just chill girl.
it's ya boi here But they acknowledge it as their own. That’s the thing with Americans, not only do they obnoxiously proclaim their “own” things as the best, but “their” things they claim to be the best are often stolen from other countries
Really...? After see this video I´m glad that America isn´t in Eurovision
:"d
+Eurovision Life Well israel and Australia isn't in Europe, and they participate
+Norbert Kulpa and Azerbaijan
+ICurlyHead Logo TV is broadcasting the grand finals of Eurovision 2016 this week. :)
Linn Dahl They were invited especially being a broadcaster of the contest since 1983 and an associate member of the EBU over the years.
Is this the only American you could find? Just another reason to hate us with her silly comments and condescending attitude like "so you don't need any talent?" "oh like the super bowl?" "where is that place?" "our music has more meaning". Thanks a lot Jessie.
+Shann Maire I'd actually understand her if she was condescending because of the winner. I'm still annoyed that that generic dance shit won, when there was an entry like Latvia's.
But then, if Andreas Kümmert had participated, Germany would have won without question, so maybe I'm just jealous of Sweden right now. Although I do love Love Injected.
+TheYasmineFlower Estonia should've won, Latvia is okay too though, but not really winner material imo
+Shann Marie ikr. this is our thing, ok?! yea, its maybe not like superbowl, but its still awesome. and just because they Dance while singing, that doesnt mean that there is no need for the talent of singing! they sing just right!
***** ARE YOU SERIOUS? God, she was so wrong! Eurovision isnt like superbowl, superbowl is like eurovision or some shit like that😊 thanks for telling me😉
+MrJeppe313 Am I the only one who want Belgium to win?
The US girl is probably not trying to be condescending and insulting, it's just the way that they tend to come across sometimes. Notwithstanding, as a Canadian I was a little surprised when I found out that most US people have never heard of Eurovision. I guess it's true that most of them don't watch anything made outside the US. They often assume that the rest of us only watch US media, and don't have any music or film of our own. It's very odd, but sadly true.
The biggest contributors to US music have been black Americans - which have been so persecuted by white Americans. Why are people so smug about other people's successes and don't make contributions themselves. I'll bet she can't sing a note herself.
+Rev Snowfox Honestly it depends on the person. The US is a huge country with a very large population. I'm from California and me and a lot of my friends are very interested in the cultures of other countries and tend to watch/listen/read to a lot of media from outside the US. There are some Americans who are really close minded about things from other countries but there are just as many fascinated by it, the former just tends to be louder and more outspoken.
Rev Snowfox Well it depends on the person, obviously most people know non English speakers use the internet they just assume they have their own websites and videos in their language. But I do know what you're talking about with the whole acting like everyone should speak English which has always struck me as rude. As an English speaking person I shouldn't expect everyone to speak my language and vice versa.
+Carobmoth As an American, I can tell you for a fact that many people in the US think everyone else in the world still lives by light of a campfire and makes cave art. I think this girl is one of those people. It's kind of ironic, seeing as most Americans know absolutely nothing about anywhere else in the world and mostly don't even WANT to know anything about the rest of the world unless it directly involves the US. Luckily, we're not all like this--I promise (but she sure is).
Brian Briu Hey, to be fair, we have some of the best universities...then again, it's mostly foreigners who actually get into them >.
So Europeans aren't trying to send a message with their songs? I feel a bit offended actually.
As an American, I apologize. She's definitely a valley girl and didn't even seem to be watching the performances all that much lol.
Wtf? The american songs are meaningful? Since when?
+Many of the Eurovision song are about war, peace or love. It's not just dancemusic
American Girl, most meaningful song ever heard! (sarcasm, if you look it up expect to be disappointed. or not? depends what you expect)
but america is a continent
I Know My Womans
Europe is a small island man stop bullying it
Hey, the world has to be informed about bubblebutts, twerking, some famous dude's daughter whipping her hair back and forth and other dudes getting drunk until they throw up.
But to be honest, the ESC did get pretty shallow. It was way better at times when every country had to sing in their native or some made up fictional language. Now it's all generic english popmusic. It lacks of the tradition. I mean, I didn't expect germans participant this year to be a yodeling folk with lederhosen, but a teen Weeaboo dressed like she got lost on the way to a cosplay convention? Meh ....
England is an island. Europe is not. it is a continent. Go back to first grade geography. the only continent that is an island is Australia.
The Eurovision is a little weird, but i like it when Europeans do something nice together instead of fighting...
+Aku Jo so true
+Aku Jo Indeed!
totally agree with you
+Aku Jo Are you European?
uh there fighting in around Irak thats asia not Europea were not having war dumbass
"We're trying to send a message." Sure 'Anaconda' by Nicki Minaj is a great message.
To be fair, it does carry a message.
Butts, good.
No Butts, bad.
Arturo Aldana Everyone has a butt, so everyone is good. I actually like that it's what you got from that song, LOL. :)
Moldova was an Anaconda RIPOFF
Theres more to rap music than a mega hit faux hip hop-pop commercial track -_- rmfe
What about Je.Lo xD
Ok. Why do americans think they are better than everyone else? If there is even ONE event they are not included in, they get all cheeky, vicious and sarcastic like this "incredibly clever lady" here, who doesnt even know the lyrics to any of these songs but says: "yeah well at least our songs have a message"...you know, nobody would hate americans, if they didn't thought their toilet paper is made out of gold. Trust me, im not hating on anyone, just stating the facts.
They are so naive. Look at how she's trying to patronise but didn't realise how dumb she is. LOL
Yeah, her ridiculously patronizing attitude is annoying as fuck.
I agree they think they're so much better than everyone else. When you have a history as blood as the USA you DON'T judge others period
You literally only stated opinions.
Wow.. SuperBowl? "Everybody's watching"? Get over yourself, girl.
Neither me nor any of my European friends ever saw SuperBowl.
I find it funny how Americans think everyone's keeping a vigilant eye on their popculture, when in reality everyone's kinda minding their own business..
Yeah, you'll notice that ALL of Europe, China, America, and Australia watch Eurovision and who watches the SuperBowl? About half of America..!!!
Yeah, you'll notice that ALL of Europe, China, America, and Australia watch Eurovision and who watches the SuperBowl? About half of America..!!!
What even is superbowl
@@choenyi1448 literally
Superbowl has 100 million+ viewers per year, which no matter the country, is a lot
American girl: "More down to earth over here" bwahahhahahahahaha
The way she talks about the Swedish guy like he was a child or something... she seems to think that anything that's not american is just stupid...
I don't see it that way. You're implying negativity where there is none. She seemed genuinely happy for him, I don't know where you get the impression that she finds it stupid because it isn't American..
Well Americans are ignorant and condescending, mainly due to being "Number 1" and "The best". You go guys, you are doing great. Land of the free, YAY
Irene Oñate Yeh, Americans doesnt know that many american artists shouldnt be where they are without Swedes. I mean Britany Speas, Alguiera, Madonna, Justin Timberlake and much much more did get help from swedish producers and songwriters. I mean the famous Ops I did it again, is written by Max Martin, a swede. :-)
Irene Oñate When the US stops censoring words like shit and fuck and if government officials stop swearing on the Bible THEN I'll start to take the States seriously.
Why is everyone hating on America? Yes we grow up with the mentality that we are the best, but don't most countries? eryuuvim It's called PRIDE people! But just because most are patriotic doesn't mean we don't appreciate other countries. Jerry Berglund America has a lot of artist from all over, but if they aren't in the spot light with the talent, no one cares. The artists you just named would be okay in the industry without whatever producer you're talking about.. When you go to a concert you wanna see the artist preform, not the producers.
This airhead is extremely annoying. "It´s like.... I mean like... that was like... I mean seriously, like... like...American music is more down to earth like..."
Yeah - Britney Spears and Beyoncé really makes me think.
Jon Anderson hey you can mess with Britney BUT DON'T FUCK WITH BEYONCE.
Sebastian yanez work work work work work
BEYONCE IS OVERRATED *Backs off*
beyonce isnt smart. but there are a lot of intelligent and amazing american artists, but you'll notice they'll usually be critical of america and are more european in how they express themselves
I mean, this contest is actually kind of amazing. And it is a big thing for us, soo maybe she could've tried to not be so ignorant and rude?
Big for you small irrelevant countries maybe. She's right the Eurovision music is garbage. I don't know why Uk and Australia keep applying, were far too superior and established in the music world for this garbage.
+!TWD&AHS! Irrelavant countries? I'm Swedish and my country is definitely not irrelevant. Nor any other country for that matter. We all play a part in this world. I agree that most of the things in Eurovision is garbage nowadays but it's still amazing how all of Europe get together once a year
+Magda.Lagerkvist nah Sweden isn't irrelevant. Some of the countries are basically Russian pawns though. They're a waste of space, may as well be in Russia.
Btw Loreen-Euphoria is the only good song that's come out of Eurovision for the last 10ish years in my opinion, so massive respect to Sweden for that one! 👍🏻
+!TWD&AHS! Where do you live? and from what country are you genetically?
Proud to be Swedish!🇸🇪🇸🇪 but honestly that girl needs to travel outside America and realize that there is world outside of the U.S. "We always send a message with our songs" uuum...did she know that heroes with Måns Zelmerlöw (the song that won) is about being left out and being bullied and so on...? The typical Eurovision song is often about peace, love, acceptance and a lot of songs have sent some HUGE messages throughout the years. And I hate how condescending she was against the performers. Like, a lot of them are REALLY big in their home-country. Did she know that Celinè Dion for example competed in Eurovision? Or ABBA?
+youngsoul B Proud to be swiss but since for them 'Murican we are the same country, Proud to be swedish!! xD
+Al Caulique hahaha right!! I feel ya!!🙈😂😂
+youngsoul B I'm not Swedish, but I did love the song that won last year. It was really good, but I wish that All Eurovision wasn't about politic. All love
+lola2dana They are not allowed to sing political songs, its a rule ik. Don't ask about Ukraine 2016, idk. only thing is every song is checked and they will get a clear if they can use the song before joining the eurovision.
+Blu Niza Yes I know, but I also was talking about the voting at the end when the give the points, some countries are thinking political when the give there points. I hope one day we all love each other
America is like a Child that has grown up too quickly.
Josh Cozens Hetalia
More like an adult that hasn't grown up yet... ;)
Let's say United States. Please let the rest of the American countries out of that statement.
Woman:
It has nothing to do with, really, talent.
Azerbaijan - where is that?
Awwww, he is so happyyyy. Aw that was the best reaction ever ---- What did you expect, woman? He just won this Contest!!!
Half-time show at the Superbowl in terms of, like, production value. And how many people are watching.
American Idol meets Superbowl.
Women and teenage girls - as the audience?? - WTF, WTF
In the terms of style and the way it's shot and all the music - that's much more european than us. --------- IT'S THE EUROvision - it is EUROPE - that's kinda the point.
We kinda like to be more down to earth and like that cool rap section. ----- Oh my god. Don't get me started.
With our music it's less like dance music and more like we are trying to send a message, y'know. ---- Which message is that? Everyone can try and fail? Everyone can try and achieve some kind of "sucess?" Everyone can be a "gangsta" rapper if he has a mouth?
May I strangle that woman?
u may but u may absolutely not call her jiggly!
metele caña a esa nena
"Our music is like... we tryinna send a message, you know..." - Yeah... right
You forgot the neck swing. I thought she was going to snap her fingers and go "giiiirlfrieeend!"
metamay sick thing!
This have almost 2x more viewers then Super Bowl..
+Macklebro more... almost entire Europe is watching.. Plus australia xD
+Zyra Chan it had 180 mil last time.. so idk
+Macklebro it were 220 mil ;-)
Sabinefundel big difference -.-
+Zyra Chan I'll never understand why Australia like it so much xD
who else facepalmed when she didn't know where Azerbajian is
No offense but I wouldn't really expect her to know where it is. I mean, how many American states does the average european know?
She seems sort of stupid, though
Dafman We learn all the states in school when we study the world. At least here in Scandinavia.
JessieJoystick Which class? I'm from Sweden (9th grade) and we've never studied them. The majority of the people in my class can't even localize 5 different states
I have never learned about the states but i bet I can name at least 12 and point out a few too.
Dafman
Geografi på gymnasiet :)
"nothing to do with really talent?" - Some random American
I will walk away now
Why does she always refer Eurovision to Super Bowl, it is absolutely nothing like it!!!
I'm not even a big fan of the Eurovision and I have never watch an entire show but it is still weird to me how she can look down on everything so comfortably. Also, this dude didn't explain it well. How is it a gay Superbowl? Superbowl is about football+ads+performance of a big star. Eurovision is about representing your country with music (in the past, in your own native language, I thought that was really interesting, nowadays so many countries sing in English :/). I don't see what's gay about it? They are happy singing people with whatver sexuality.
+gerbelle90 I agree, it used to be better when they sang in their native languages.
yes, but then everyone would vote an english or French speaking country
Lieselot Holownia No, I don't think so. I would vote for the best and most charming singer
Lieselot Holownia I always had my favourites even if I didn't understand the language. Subtitles have also been invented.
i agree
Out of all countries I dislike the United States the most.
+Joseph Israel Di rossi Opinions are allowed in this world, well dunno about the USA but they are over here on CZcams.
+MultiMapping your english gave me a disease called "what?"
Joseph Israel Di rossi "Ignorant?" Most of them are ignorant. Instead of "God bless America" they should say "God bless the world." My opinion would've been different about them if they would change their stupid phase.
+Chrissy V. (Catrina) you sound so dumb. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Joseph Israel Di rossi Oh, do I really have to explain English, as a Dutch, to an American?! Come on...
I'll explain my sentence.
Opinions are allowed in this world, well dunno about the USA but they are over here on CZcams.
'They' refers to 'Opinions'. So what I said meant 'Opinions are allowed in this world, well dunno about the USA but opinions are allowed over here on CZcams'.
It's nothing like the Superbowl- that's just American i.e. ONE country. Eurovision is numerous different countries coming together internationally. Americans please stop thinking of Europe as one entity!! We're completely different countries with different histories, it's not like the USA.
+Becki P The comparison with the Superbowl was made because they are both live televised events that are watched by more than a hundred people yearly and where teams representing a certain place (in the US, they would be states or major cities; in Europe, entire nations) gather to compete where there can only be one winner (in SB, only two football teams while in ESC, more than a dozen musical acts).
+jlhabitan50 But it's not a comparison that should be made... a state in america is the equivalent of a city somewhere else- not a country. And Americans frequently refer to travelling to 'Europe' as though it's one frigging country. You have to understand we're utterly separate, but just because of our geographical size Americans think of us as being one unit. We all have different languages, history, cultures, music, television, everything- the fact that we come together is a much more unique occurrence than one country's different states playing sports.
Becki P It's all about context because you're trying to understanding the appeal of one to another. What better way to make such by using one highly viewed live event to another?
jlhabitan50 the reason why people say this isn't a comparison is because Eurovision isn't just a song contest but it's about culture and politics too. The Superbowl is literally just one thing focused on a specific activity. Eurovision doesn't operate the same.
"We try to send the message"
Is asked about what is the message
"I don t know"
...that really says it all
"he's living his dream, look how excited he is" hahaha Måns has been doing this for years
With respect, I think the viewership of the Eurovision song contest slighlty outstrips the 'superbowl'
Yes. Superbowl has a viewership of approx. 100 million, while Eurovision is watched by over 200 million people each year.
England aren't in eurovision, it's the united kingdom. Smh
"Our music has a message" she said
"We've got Adele" we said
I'm swedish and I guess you are from UK. And that one SLAYED
+TindraM Nope. The Netherlands, our songs aren't really that great... But my lord! Sweden! Last years winner Måns Zelmerlöw! After I watched the song contest I spent all my iTunes money on some of his songs... Sweden always has amazing representatives
TindraM
(As in the songs and representaives we send to the songfestival are just like bad)
Marit Damen too bad the likes of Adele wouldn't ever be able to participate in Eurovision.
My personal opinion... Eurovision = A great show where Europe is united by music.
Superbowl = Dudes who beat the shit out of each other in a boring sport and a shitload of commercials.
Not trying to offend anyone, people like what they like, and the Superbowl is just... shit to me. Well, I'm European and football is great stuff. I'm the same with the World Cup or the Olympic Games, where people represent their countries with pride, really enjoyable to watch for me =P
What can annoy me, is how it seems like that Europeans give American things a chance, such as the superbowl, while it seems like Americans stay for themselves.(As in the stereotype about Americans believing they are the best on the world)
I might not be exactly sure on how Americans handle it, but where I live, people always made a big deal about the Superbowl and still do.
Eurovision on the otherhand, seems like the only real show, that unites people, thinking countries actually do vote for the songs, but sadly still politically. There have been cases where even long time rival countries would exchange points, which could be like Greece & Turkey, Serbia & Croatia, Russia & Ukraine, even UK & France(Despite they barely pick anything good anymore)
Just like how I said, that Americans believe they are the best, then it's true Eurovision is a Gay pride(Another stereotype). Which bothers me very much since I'm following the contest close every day going to every single detail. However, I'm not gay myself, but when I was at the contest in 2013 & 2014, you did get the feeling that gay people treat the contest like something of their own and wanna keep it like that. Those types who overreact about something they like, like hooligans at a football match, or a so-called hardcore fan of a person... Such people take it too the extreme and ruin everything about it.
I did find it hilarious for myself, how you easily can spot a gay person in the comments, by the way they write... Gawd freaking Damn! xD
+Heydavid17 Have you read these comments? Have you read comments on any video that brought up the UK and the USA? There's always a plethora of European douchebags saying how much better they are than Americans. It's hard to give a fuck about a place when it's so easy to get the impression that everyone there is an arrogant cunt.
***** Of course it's just a place... the spot that I'm at right now is just a place... Is viewing equal things as equal hypocrisy now? Thanks for proving my point though.
+enginesnblades Let's be quite honest, these Europeans you've seen commenting are 100% correct.
+NEVER_AGAIN Mine turn to pitch in, how? i'm guessing you'd be the equivalent of (if not a) UKIP supporter, The EU Unites people of all cultures together to try and work out differences between countries that have been fighting each other for generations before this 60 years of peace had been started. Sure its a bit bossy, but that's the same for any government, that's the whole idea of a government, is to give up some of your freedom and autonomy in exchange for protection, security and society. if you want to complain about a tolerant, egalitarian/capitalist, multicultural society that attempts peace at any cost, then by all means go ahead, i'm open to hear your opinion, but i know, by the way you've commented here, you're unlikely to be open to mine, hence why i left my point to the very end of this comment, so you have to read the entire thing.
+NEVER_AGAIN Troll or mongoloid, you decide!
Eurovision is like superbowl ???? no...superbowl is like Chapmpions League... but..Champions League is far way better at all levels. Superbowl is known for its commercials...nothing more...
Superbowl is gay
God this woman literally puts me off ever going to America. And I know a lot of Americans aren't like that, but I do often pick up the same attitude from them. Like they just miss the point with so many things. They are obsessed with fame and just wouldn't get the good feeling behind Eurovision. Like loads have said in the comments, not humble, not down to earth.
lol girl you don't need to find the US equivalent to this, you need to appreciate it for what it is..superbowl my ass
Hi, an austrian speaking here.
The guy at the beginning was Udo Jürgens, a famous singer from Austria that died a while ago. So yeah. Just in case anyone was wondering
R.I.P. Sorry to hear:-(
Ich war noch niemals in New York, ich war noch niemals auf Hawaii, ging nie durch San Francisco in zerrissenen Jeans!
***** Austria loves you too c:
***** Oh, thanks ;w; that´s very kind of you. We´ll appreciate every single point we get this year because last year we got frikkin zero
Awesomeness Wenigstens musstet ihr nicht alleine leiden. :) Geteiltes Leid ist halbes Leid, oder?
the way she's talking about that Swedish guy... like He was a baby. she probably has no idea how many people this reaches 😂
Eurovision is the reason every new year is worth it.
Just so you know the Eurovision is the biggest show in the world with about 200 million viewers. So it's bigger than Super Bowl.
Stop saying that the eurovision is some gay f*cking contest... just becuase Conchita won? Well every year it's different and has a unique winner:
2006: Monsters, Lordi
2014: The bearded man trans
2012: the amazingly talented crab dancing woman
2013: Shakira without shoes
2011: well it's azerbaijajianaiajagsan ahahah
2009: dancing around and kicking every single hat
***** Eurovision isn't a gay contest, but it has been a big connection between Eurovision and LBTG people for the past decades. It's not because Conchita won, it's just the whole party, with the glamour and sparkling costumes and.. everything. And I say it / mean it in the most positive way possible! It just happen to be a big part of "gay culture", and I love it for it!
:)
***** New to ESC? ESC is like one of the biggest gay festivals out there :P Straight people obviously watch it too, but it's suuuuuuuuch a huge gay thing... And it's not because of Conchita it's been going on way way way longer...
Vicious Panda Ive been watching ESC since 2006 so almost 10 yeara so... but anyway all the "queens" need to calm down a little ;)
***** Ya, and ESC has been really huge for gays for way longer than that :P Did you realize that just now? Lol.
***** Conchita isn't a trans, he is gay according to himself and identifies himself as a man. His drag act requires him to dress like a woman on-stage.
When she talks about Måns Zelmerlöv, the funniest part is that she has no idea of who he is. ''Oh look how excited he is!'', he is a professional singer and this is not the first time he's on a stage, like wtf? Maybe you should do some research before you say certain things.
ikr, he was chosen to represent the country so it must mean that he is a renowned singer. I'm not European and have only seen around 3 performances before and I could figure it out.
I'm Canadian, and I remember my first time watching Eurovision! (which was in Australia, where they LOVE Eurovision, which is why they let Australia participate, lol). It was not like this! I was more like.... "What is this magic? It's so over the top, and I love it!" :P Plus there are some legit good songs every year. And even when they're not, they're often entertaining enough to watch that it's lots of fun!
But I guess some people would rather compare everything to the Superbowl, talk about how happy the contestants are as if they were 5-year-olds meeting a dude in a Spiderman costume, and listen to "chill, down-to-earth" American rap music with "meaningful lyrics". Different strokes, I guess. Also, way to check every single box on the "Stereotypes of Americans" list.
If she's meant to be an ambassador for her culture... then I guess Americans really are as ignorant as we think they are.
Do they have brains in 'merica?
Do you have one?
+LilaMudbanana That comeback... *Slow claps*
10/10
+MochanOnCrack that was a shit comeback
+MochanOnCrack that "comeback" actually sucked
do you think they have?
"famous down to earth Americans" was my favourite sentence in the whole bloody video 😂
They didn't even show the Ukrainian with the christmas tree outfit, Eurovision is about being fabulous :')
Verka Saduchka in 2007? Favourite entry ever oh my goodness
Then again i beleve there are 3 types of song in Euro Vision; the good, the bad and the werid af. I remeber watching Euro Vison in 2014 I believe, my parents where waiting for Poland (i am American of Polish decent and we watch Eurovision every year since we got channels from Europe) and I swear, Poland scared me for life. I never felt so disappointed and disturbed. Big-boobed girls in sexualized traditional clothing seductively makeing butter while rapping about how sexy Slavic women are. Then there is pre teen me and my inoccent yet older brother on the verge of trowing up and screeming. My parents just laughted.
***** As someone who is both Polish-American and have other freinds with parents who still keep their ties with Europe close at least via media; it's a bit embarassing when my country gets the worst representation every dame year.
***** As for comedic value I accually liked the entry with the guy dressed in drag with a flameing piano. Comedy gold.
+mimikrysia2 Don't forget Croatia 2006, Iceland 2006, and France 2014 ( Poor France got last that year, I happened to love that song! ) Though Ukraine 2007 is by far the funniest and the best non winner. At least in my opinion.
Calling it the Gay Superbowl is so wrong...
and stupid
+The Haus Of Pop But he's super right
It's kinda true though..
Disclaimer: thus lady doesn't represent the knowledge/ opinions of the American populous as a whole so please think about that before you start ameribashing.
Agreed. But mostly people won't, but then maybe they will. Lets hope for the best!
Yeah...she pissed me off. She was talking down to ALL the European countries, like when she was saying "Awww...hes so happy." Damn Straight hes happy. Then soon after she was like, "Where's Azerbaijan?" And, how she kept relating it to the Super Bowl...when this is nothing like the super bowl...but more like the World Cup (And even thats a stretch). She really needs to get out of her Americacentric bubble. As an American, im ashamed that out of 300 million+ people, she had to be on this show.
And how tf did that guy put up with her?
Squipy IDK but kudos to that guy for being really patient.
James Devera It's the internet. Who cares? I'm American...bash away. As soon as I close this laptop you all vanish. I'm not represented by any other American...good or bad. I'm only represented by me, accountable for me. If someone wants to blame me for what an American not me did or said? Then that person (not me) is the one with the problem. Likewise, if an American did something good in your eyes? None of the credit belongs to me either. Why try to massage the feelings of theoretical assholes whom might feel the urge to attack all the people of a country because they might have a problem with what 1 person from that country said?
I did this to prevent hate due to the fact that many people on the internet would jump at the opportunity to hate the people in America and their society and I'm so sick of it!! Like what is up with this global dick-measuring contest?! Who gives a flying fuck if their government has a better statistic on whatever it is that somehow makes them superior?! I honestly posted the comment so I can prevent an internet shitstorm and at the end of the day no matter what ethnicity or nationality we are we shouldn't let the fact that we live somewhere else with a different culture be an excuse to scrutinize a whole other nation and it's people.
That girl don't know anything about Europe and has very basic thinking. First of all, in terms of message, European music beats US with a huge margin. Second, Eurovision isn't just tennage girls and women, it is all people, because of the strong nationalism. Ask random Bulgarian, Russian, Albanian or whatever and he will list the best perefromances of his country. And sometimes they will even say something about the Junior Eurovision, which by the WAY was WON by Bulgaria, ofc, the most talanted country in the world!
+Todor Jivkov The US gave the world jazz, rock, rap and hip hop. Bulgaria gave the world?
+Todor Jivkov and the first Junior ESC was won by us Croatian ;) hehehe... I like to watch the ESC and every country had some good people who deserved to win in those past years ...
Nikolina Jelčić
Croatia is awsome!
Maybe this year Spain send the former eurojunior winer María Isabel to Eurovision
+icampos89 USA didn't give to the world anything, they copy everything from Europe almost always destroying it
+icampos89 actually, africans gave those to the world, they(or their forefathers) just happened to be displaced against their will. and all latter genres generated as a protest to the former getting high-jacked by the powers that were.
"Americans are down to earth..." wtf?
What is superbowl? Oh, I know, it's that event with 1/4 viewers of UCL Final and 1/2 viewers of Eurovision Final. The strange thing is they call it football even though they don't really play football there.
"We tend to be more down to earth" hahaha, no american girl you do not tend to be down to earth!
trivia:
105 million watch superbowl finale
200 million watch eurovision finale 2015
i'd love it if the US got invited to Eurovision, only cause it'd be hilarious to see them get O POINTS
Lol
+JixedUp Yup, they'd be sending someone like Justin Bieber or Justin Timberlake or someone else who is already superpopular globally and win because of popularity.
Makes me wonder why Britain doesn't send One Direction or someone like that though.
holy sauron because it's not allowed. You can't send A-List global popular artists because it would be a massive imbalance of winnings each year. It would basically be like 5 countries winning each different years out of the rest of Europe because they keep sending their most popular artists. The contest has always been mostly about having fun, so they won't send popular artists because then it'll turn into a "who's more popular game" and that's something Eurovision isn't about.
Måns (the swedish performer) he has ended up in second place in sweden way to many times and when he finally managed to go to the eurovision he wins, that is a real reaction and its amazing!
wow, she's got talent! How is it possible to make someone hate someone under 6 minutes, talent, right there.
0:36 Kinda like American "football" is the gay version of rugby.
Alex H Rugby sounds like the lesbian version of Gumby. lol
No rugby is gay. You grapple men. No grappling in football
Ryan Herich Rugby protection: gum-shield.
American "football" protection: Covered from head to toe in thick protection.
Considering this the grappling can be overlooked. American football IS for the frail rugby players and americans. // A Swedish person who doesn't play rugby.
Don't use gay as an insult. That's like saying "footballs straight asf"
+Kaleb Briggs She said gay in the video, I was merely using her words in a different context.
Azerbaijanis are going to hate her after watching this video....
ikr
Yeah she even doesn't know where is Azerbaijan located 😂
+Murad Khalilov What do you want, she's american
+Хлоя Чанокова just because she doesnt know where is that country? i dont think so
Pickel Perhaps you are not Azerbaijanis, but if your country is mentioned and someone says "Where is this country?", you sort of feel offended and disrespected.
3:16 "...Azerbaijan."
"Where's that? o_O"
*HAHAHA PLEASE SAVE ME, I'M DYING OF LAUGHTER xDDDD*
Am I at buzzfeed?
XDDD
No....Buzzfeed has slightly more brains than the chick in this video
+Veyx Rose They think they can be Buzzfeed.
lebron jaques Ikr XD
lebron jaques XD haha
I don't think the rest of the world understand how big this contest is for us Europeans.
This girl is literally if you put all of America in one person
Ohh se he is so humble and down to earth ! You can see she is american
I love Eurovision, and I'm American. Yes, I know I am one of a VERY few who do. Yes, I know where Azerbaijan is. Yes, I will watch Eurovision over American Idol or the Voice or whatever glorified karaoke contests that are American singing competitions on TV. Yes, I STILL think Italy should have won Eurovision this year.
Yeah, is better than any Karaoke contest because every country sends an inedit song every year and Italy should have won! Greetings from Mexico.
***** Seems like you forgot your tinfoil hat at home. Better run and get it.
High five my friend
PLEASE EUROPEANS do not judge all Americans based on this girl. We are not (all) dumb/ignorant/close minded.
Americans, there can be huge televised events without your knowledge or involvement. Trust me. It's okay! This is a 61 year old on-going event and tradition. If you don't understand it, we don't blame you.
Signed,
Half Euro American/ESC Fan.
She acts like shes watching little puppies or baby rabbits... "OOooohh he's sOOoo HAappyyyy..." ahahaha
Ok she is not the smartest it seems...but also the guy had some shitty explanations...
first of all there are also countries as Israel or Azerbaijan which are not European countries... and Australia was only invited as a special guest for the anniversary. And I don't think they will be ever again on the show...
and how can you compare a singing show with a sports show????
And how she talked about Mans...like he was a child....
she is the typical stereotype of Americans
Amazingly Azerbaijan is in Europe and Australia is confirmed for ever as full right member. It is not needed to be European, Eurovision is open to all UER members (and now also to Australia)
iSPaLiTo They said on Television that Australia won't be on the competition...( thay said it on the same evening when the ESC was)
but if they changed their minds is ok...australia is a nice country and they have good music.
I know that you don't have to be European I just stated out that azerbaijan isn't a European country ...the guy in the video didn't describe the show very well.
+Nikolina Jelčić A small tip of Azerbaijan is in Eastern Europe.
Adohleas since when??? We even Turkey don't count to Europe because the biggest part is in Asia. And that is why they probably never will be a part of the EU.
So pls tell me how Azerbaijan can be Europe. I never learned that in school... it is an Asian country...because it is on the Asian continent.
Nikolina Jelčić Look at a map showing continents, even though Europe technically isn't a continent. Azerbaijan is mostly in Asia, but if you look at Europe as a whole, a small tip of it reaches into Easter Europe. The Europe continent concept was created in the classical antiquity era.
Turkey is also still part of Europe, just like Georgia and Kazakhstan as well. The borders of Europe predates all four of those countries. Sure they are not in the EU or Eurozone, however they are part of the continent Europe which means the people that live on those sides could technically call themselves European.
0:36 um, not at all? plenty of straight people watch too
it's more of the european super bowl, and at that the super bowl has fewer viewers
the american here is also so clueless too lmao I mean a lot of people in my city (Washington DC) don't know much about it but a significant minority at least know something
3:19 yOU DID NOT
NO
TAKE THAT BACK
Brennan Winer Plenty of straight people watch it on telly, but I live in Vienna, where it was held this year, and many of the spectators, backstage people etc. were definitely gay. It's all about design, production, theatrics and "the show" which would probably favour that particular demographic.
TheLastAngryMan01 okay, but you can't just say the event is a 'gay super bowl' and leave it like that when it's really much more than that
Brennan Winer Fair enough, a broader explanation would probably be necessary.
Brennan Winer I went to the Eurovision this year in Vienna and it was pretty obvious that the majority was gay. But obviously straight people watch it too, it's not like saying it's a Gay Superbowl is an insult.
She made me press the Mute button fast. There's only so much ignorance and stupidity I can take.
No points and the last place goes to USA.
im an american and I've been watching eurovision for the past 5 years.....Humon made me do it
Ryan Bautista In my case Stig Rasta and Elina Born (from Estonia) made me do it :-P
Ryan Bautista I'm an American as well and I've only got into Eurovision in recent months but have been downloading and watching a lot of them. Vicky Leandros is the artist that got me into this.
Ryan Bautista Hi, who is Humon?
Michael Stenlund she is a cartoon artist she writes a comic called scandinavia and the world , she is from denmark
+Ryan Bautista Thanks for letting me know, appreciate it!
I have been way too obsessed for years and happy to see Eurovision get this done!!
Never make an american discuss any type of culture. That's almost like asking a blind person to pick their favourite colour. Pun intended.
I feel like that whole reaction was just like a typical whiny..."WAIT how come we're not included in this?! We think this is stupid but we still want in! Because 'Murica HAS to be in everybody's business!"
Glad to see in the comments section that there are still americans with some common sense and down to earth. Stay strong an proud my friends... you are an almost extinct breed.
***** It's sarcasm.
HAHAHAHAH MESSAGE
+Celia Phantomhive Damn i just watched a video from you and now you're here xD
+SmilerAmv LOL DESTINY
Celia Phantomhive ikr xD
As if europeans spoke the same language and could understand the lyrics... Hahaha!
Unlike in America, almost every single european country has an extra language in schools. I know schools that teach 5 languages in my country. And english is mandatory. So yea, we understand english well thank you very much.
'Europe? What is that?'
your daddy
As an Australian. Im sooooooo happy we are part of Eurovision. So many years of wishing and just recently we completed for the second time and SPOILERS came 2nd
Did he , like, had, like, an American friend who, like, would be, like, you know, more intelligent? Like... you know.
I just can't watch the video without pausing a hundred times.. So annoying
Same. I just had to stop at the "send a message" part and BREATHe really deep for a few seconds.
she is comparing this with the superbowl? please.... so dumb. and about the message... every year there is a message and theme. this year about the refugees. what's the super bowls message? commercials? anyway can't compare it at all. it's not that big of a deal the eurivision. soccer is 1000000x bigger in europe. especially with the european championship coming up this summer
And yes, Australia did join last year because we are that awesome. Also the only thing I know about Super Bowl is there are some funny ads. There may be some weird type of rugby league involved I'm not sure???
The gay version of superbowl? Superbowl is the gay version of superbowl. Also, he should've told her about the whole Russia controversy. -However, he probably shouldn't. America would probably just start a war with them, if they find out that not all countries share their point of view.
+Michael Novak
What a moronic statement to make.
I hate feeling like I have to constantly apologize for the rest of my country.
You don't have to :)
I don't think people realize how much Eurovision was important for the whole Europe when it first aired. The first show was in 1956 and the main reason was bringing peace. The whole continent was ruined and was still having major consequences from the WWII and people needed to bond and feel the love again. Sure, now it's more mixed with politics (the whole voting part) but at the end of the day who cares? It's still a great show. I'm sure the girl that reacted couldn't see much from a single show but throughout the history of Eurovision we had some killer vocals. Check Kaliopi or Loreen or Conchita and the list goes on. So America has no right to even comment on this.
Also, one more thing. "Don't to earth" ?? Girl, the whole video you acted as if you owned the place. Obviously you can't seem to appreciate the different cultures and music. And "our songs have more meaning" ? I bet you were talking about your pop or r'n'b or even rap, so let me remind you: Nicki Minaj, Two Chainz, Rihanna, Drake, need I go on ?...All these songs about booty, sex and twerking. Please, stop embarrassing yourself.
..she didn't understand it at all. If she'd watched the whole thing, she wouldn't have said it's like the super bowl (or that american music always has a message.). There are many songs with a message, you know? About world peace and stuff like that. And the Australians were allowed to participate for the first time, because they are long time watchers. Btw, Conchita herself is a symbol for tolerance - and it's really cool that my country (Austria) won in 2014 because of him/her. And just fyi: the ESC has way more viewers than the superbowl and is imo a "more important" event, because all the people of europe participate and kinda unite - that's a really nice thing.
But what I wanted to say: I'm really annoyed with whtat she said, because it seems like she doesn't know anything about europe or more like she thinks america's better. That's why many people don't like americans - because of that attitude.
