I always like the drape-y look before you tighten the fondant around the cake. Especially here it could have been used like a Cape or Drapery. can you do one that mimics fabrics and flows?

Most extremely lavish cakes you see have false or artificial elements like foam or scaffolding. Its part of the illusion and sometimes necessary to fulfill a bride's (and groom's) vision. I've made cakes for intimate 100 head weddings where the bride insisted on an impactful cake. If the entire thing was made of cake, it would have served three times that much and so much would have gone to waste. With foam, you can have impact, with minimal weight or waste. Best of both worlds.
PatisserieBoy yes, but I had to cut and serve one of these cakes. It was years before the internet, and so I went to the library to see how they were created and so how to cut and serve a tiered wedding cake. I had no idea there were parts not made of cake, but of Styrofoam and dowels and had to be cut around those so it wouldn't collapse. As it turned out, the baker used both Styrofoam, dowels, and cardboard! It was a beautiful cake, but work to cut and I was glad I researched it.

(Please like so he will see this) Can you please, please make an early 90s late 80's wedding cake complete with a completely over the top pastel coloured (heavy on the pink) frilly icing and romantic ivy twined staircases and birdcages lol (all made of icing)? Pleeeaseeee I'm obsessed with the 90! Everything is so beautifully detailed, so over the top and kind of ugly but weirdly mesmerizing! Hehee Would be so cool to see! Thanks in advance! xx

I've never seen someone pass cake filling through a sieve before. Is it just for the almond chunks? Because if it was, wouldn't it have been easier to just run the almond paste through the sieve before adding it?

Alison Scurr i understand that and i think that’s incredible, it’s the new modern royal family!! but like with previous royal weddings, kate and will, it was again such a massive thing! i’m not saying it’s a bad thing that other countries are interested, i think it’s amazing that other countries get excited to watch our future kings and queens marry!
Can you blame us? The closest thing to royalty we have here are Trump or the Kardashians... And well, that's not royalty at all. It's quite the opposite & makes us all look like uneducated bigots. So we kind of cling to our English roots for what little bit of class we have left lol.
I have personally never been interested in the royal family or their weddings (heck, in America we aren't raised at all with the concept of royalty, we're far more invested in our government/elections), but he is marrying an American... so it's only right to be excited. It will be one of the biggest ironic moments in history lol I never would've thought that an English royal would marry an American... the two countries that fought against each other. We are allies now, but it's still pretty funny. I hope the two of them the best.
