Congratulations Seeley. A great design and a well deserved award.

I am assuming this would be using a dessicant to pre-dry the air. If that is the case, how is the dessicant 'recharged'?

it uses indirect cooling so moisture isnt really added to the air unitl the second stage of direct cooling which is a section of the unit down stream that is pretty much a normal swamp cooler. the whole idea is to cool the fresh intake air with these large indirect cooling pads that are like 2x2x3 and have plastic cells with water and fresh exhaust air running through them while fresh air is drawn across the outside of the cell to precool the air before it goes through a normal swamp cooler, goes through the building and does its thing. they get much more complex but they require monthly maintenance in my opinion after servicing a good amount of these guys.

okay i just started servicing these units and theyre always nasty as fuck and takes 2 guys just to clean a cw80 because i need one guy to hold the cells in the indirect pads open while i spray them out just because they become clogged with scale, and with the amount of scale deposits it takes 8 hours to clean 2 units properly. not to mention the stupid arrow shaped tabs for the large side pannels to hook onto like whats up with those? putting those large side pannels back on the units sides is a bitch especially when the units start getting ripped apart by the santa anna winds. i love these units the concept is amazing and when they run they kick ass but the design needs improvement, and so much of the units are over engineered whereas other aspects are lacking.
