- Designed for an elderly couple, by their son and daughter-in-law, House with Two Courts derives inspiration from the Wada Houses of Northern Karnataka, as an ode to their parents’ days as teachers in the region.
The two courts juxtapose in their functionality as one connects the users to the outdoors, and the other orchestrates indoor activities. Characterized by a simple material palette, clean lines, and sharp geometry, the house is brought to life using skylights and accent blue shades in various spaces.
One of the most beautiful spaces in the house is a double-height central courtyard. All spaces in the house spill onto or overlook this space highlighted by a seater and a green shrub.

A fine balance between indoor and outdoor spaces, sufficient natural light, and ample greenery are some key highlights of the project. The architects walk around the house giving an insight into how they were inspired by a traditional Wada home to make this contemporary home in Bengaluru.

It is indeed a home for a poet.. created with lots of love. I want to share something strange / coincidence... The furniture is very contemporary but the jhoola with the brass is so traditional. I didn't think these two vastly different styles can be merged this way.
The house, the way it is presented, I love it - the cherry on top is the poets work at the end and its presentation - Beautiful.
It’s such a simple but beautiful home. Love the indoor courtyard , one would always feel connected with nature.
These kind of masterpieces are much better then those renowned architect design wer they use luxurious items to showcase their talent.... This is costly but yet shows simplicity
All good..One suggestion.. never have the staircase in anticlock wise which is against vaastu. It should always be clockwise. Meaning climb the stairs and turn right.

WONDERFUL everything! I'm "worried" there's such a "need" for opening securaty gratings!! wowzer... :-((( does the stairway "bounce" alittle? BIG house...do the features actually get "commonly-used", as hoped for? with luck and with India's aerospace innovations, you'll soon need a roof-top "heli-port" :-) buona fortuna!!
The cold blue-black colour palette and hard surfaces like black granite ruin it for me. You can hear the echoes when the architects are talking in the living room. Overall, they've sacrificed coziness and warmth in the design.
