JB, A century (or hundred) basically means 100 runs scored by a single individual batter , which is pretty rare.But this guy Virat has 80 international centuries and he has the highest number of centuries in ODI till date 🔥❤️

About 25 years ago Mark Taylor from Australia scored 334 runs in Pakistan. Brian Lara from Trinidad scored 400 against England in 2004. But they are exceptionally rare innings.

Not the best player ever but look up Imran khan from Pakistan. There's more than one, but the one who was the captain of Pakistan and also later the Prime Minister.
A century is 100 runs in a single innings. So, in the type of cricket you will see played in 'white clothing and kit' you can play two innings in a game. It's a great feat to score a century in both innings.
Having reached 100, it's quite common for 'ordinary' pro batsmen to get out fairly soon because they are carried away by getting there. The top players often have the mindset that they will 'restart' as though they are new at the crease after reaching 100. They will go on to 150, 200 and so on, if they can.
BTW, in cricket it is always "innings" and never 'inning,' as I believe is used in baseball.

Kohli first was referred king by fox cricket after his innings in australia in tri series 2013. After that kohli scored 4 centuries in test series in australia so it became a title. Indian media started using king for kohli after 2018

Strike rate is the average number of runs the player scores off 100 balls bowled at them.
Strike rate is similar to "baseball average".
A bowlers average is the total runs scored against them divided by the number of wickets (outs) they got.
20 is a good bowling average.
45 is a good batting average.

Not outs are not included as dismissed so thus boost ones average.
But for a beginner I am trying to explain what the statistic means. Which is an indication of how many runs the batter is likely to score in an average innings.

He likes to call himself "The King", but a lot of fans and his peers definitely don't agree. He's one of those players who is more interested in his achievements and records than playing as a team member in a team sport. Just look at India's recent loses to Australia in the ODI and Test Championship...Australia showed that Cricket is a team sport and that a Champion Team will be a team of champrions any day.
Its not all his fault...Cricket in India is probably the most popular sport in any country world wide...its like you could take the popularity of NBL, MLB & NFL and combine them, and cricket in India would be more popular....so the local media promotes him no end.
He have clarified in almost 2-3 interview that he don't refers himself as king. Even when asked about GOAT of cricket he didn't mentioned himself in even top 5,virat is very humble outside ground and very competitive inside ground. It's just ingnorance of Aussies and english that they degrade a player of kohli's technique and record. You are right australia is a champion team but does trophies decide players? Virat have 3 icc trophies but what about jack Kallis? Or gream Smith? Or cook? Or Malinga?
It's a misfortune or whatever you call that india isn't winning trophies. Kohli average 60 in knockouts. He doesn't get support from other end what can he do?
