Pokemon Competitive Singles was an interested world during Pokemon Sword and Shield.
The player "Pinkacross" rose to prominence during this generation, innovating and pushing the limits of overlooked Pokemon.
One of his most noteworthy efforts was with Lanturn, who operated very well as an answer to Zapdos and Tapu Koko with the added benefit of utility and pivoting.
The player Tio Chico has seen potential in these unique tools and used Komala all the way up to #9 on the Gen 9 OU Ladder.

Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on CZcams. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

I won the league in emerald Kaizo whit lanturn, and doing amazing in all the battles
Also an amazingbPokémon in Crystal Kaizo Plus. A lot of the strongest Water-types you face have Ice-, Water- and Electric-type moves and Lanturn resists all of these and retaliates with STAB super effective Thunderbolt.
Ah yes, the battle of the trident, famously where Robert Mudbraytheon knocked out Rhaegar Tyranigaryen with a critical high horsepower.

Lanturn has become my favorite Water Pokémon over time, I greatly appreciate Pinkacross repping my guy so well. It's worth mentioning that Chinchou has been one of the most reliable staples of Little Cup throughout the tier's history, hinting at the potential of its evolution.

I want a Lanturn evolution that replaces illuminate with a water absorb for dark type moves solely to say “Fuck you kingambit.” It’d be funny.

Lanturn is not unremarkable, it learns the move Electroweb, which I argue makes it a spider
Now that we’re talking about Lanturn, I can finally mention that it has the absolute dumbest Pokédex entries when you think about them.
1. Lanturn eats its prey whole, and it also competes with Lumineon for prey (idk how Lumineon beats it but I digress). Lumineon’s dex entry states that it often preys on Starmie in the ocean. So, Lanturn may eat Starmie (who’s around the same size) *whole.*
2. Lanturn’s light can shine 3 miles/5 kilometers from the depths of water to the surface. Someone did the math on that, and found out that the light it emits is 10^105 Watts *at least.*
So if you ever wanted proof as to why the Pokédex should not be trusted, there you go.

Lanturn may not prey on Starmie, but instead compete with Lumineon against other prey, or as it's based on an anglerfish its jaw may be able to extend to consume larger prey.

The amount of light that penetrates to a given depth will be the initial value times e^(-0.04x) where x is measured in meters.
At a depth of 5km the remaining light will be roughly 10^-87 of the initial value.
Factoring in the geometric loss from light expanding as a sphere following a 1/r^2 pattern, at 5000m the apparent brightness would be 4×10^-8 of the initial value.
Combined we are at roughly 10^-95 of the initial light source's intensity.
And this isn't even accounting for water turbidity, just a crystal clear salt water ocean.
For a light to be seen from the surface it would have to be bright enough to boil the ocean in it's immediate vicinity. Only 1% of the sun's light reaches 100m (300ft) of depth in clear water, this is where the twilight zone begins.
The pokedex is just propaganda from that 1 kid on the playground constantly making stuff up to 1 up everyone else with their dad who totally owns Microsoft.
Lanturn always pop up over and over again in the generations. I remember using it to deal with the Electric spam back in Gen 7

Lanturn is my all time favorite Pokémon. The design is simple but great. Awesome typing, great movepool, decent stats all around. Good abilities. I like how he’s animated in the 3D titles. He’s my perfect friend.

Back in gen 5 (I think,it might have been gen 6) I experimented a little with a specs Lanturn on a rain team. Lanturn’s sp. Ark is low but I found that the high base power of Thunder and Hydro Pump in rain went some way to making up for that. Definitely not the best set on not the best team but it was a fun and off-beat use for one of my favourite old-gen mons

Jimothy, I am deeply concerned about the outcome of the Horse Civil War. Being a combination Fire and Rock type, I fear that Magcargo stands little chance against the purely Water type Horsea, unless they manage to employ some sort of crafty stratagem.
