    • @Ex0rz
      @Ex0rz Před rokem +10

      Yeah its not like ATM's have a USB port there to plug your pc in to... You need to get the ATM open before you can access it with a computer. Its like saying Fort Knox security is easy to hack, but you just need to access the computer inside Fort Knox first :D

    • @isaac6716
      @isaac6716 Před rokem

      @@Ex0rz well i’m not sure how to explain the process without it being illegal. the best explanation is the console sends information to and from to gather permission to authorize transactions but atms have safe things to save it from allowing you full access and then it’s firewalls then sending and receiving but once you’re in it’s basically like a script sheet. also this is an educational explanation please do not go out and steal money from the atm, they will catch you 😂😂

    • @blyatspinat
      @blyatspinat Před rokem +1

      you need to know the locations of the usb ports and stuff, you can drill a hole in the front chassis and get stuff plugged in, saw that a few years ago somewhere.... it would be easier to replace the cardscanner with a cardscanner looking like the original and everytime someone puts the card in it it will copy the data to a wireless device for logging, then you need to monitor the keypad with a small cam or replace the keypad so you can log the pin, there are different ways you could achieve that, you could clone the cards and enter the correct pin, but dont do that :D better steal from the bank and not from the people using the atm, in case you need to steal xD

    As a bank IT manager I can tell you that at least 4 things have to have been grossly mismanaged for a bad actor to get even remotely close to this type of attack. I’m sure there could be a few independent ATM companies using less than stellar security practices, but you can’t communicate with any bank or card processor without encrypted communication and haven’t been able to do so for at least a decade. Maybe outside of the US or in some strange one-off niche situation this is a viable attack, but not a chance for any ATM the general public touches every day.

      @@bravocharlie639 You can't connect your PC or anything else on the network because your PC is identified by a network card with a Mac address, all the Mac addresses of the ATMs are known and registered like that at least since 1998 in all French banks... I can't guarantee that banking security in the US or elsewhere is done in the same way, but it's still the minimum. There are flaws in some online banking applications, because even if the application is pretty, you can find programming errors in the source code, but that's not what's shown in the video. We see an ATM and a local network, a switch with an ATM and a PC on it, then you just have to intercept the frame and modify it, it's easy to do. From my perspective, I don't think banks really care about security. Just go onto any website, they offer no incentives to report security issues, no bug bounties, they disclose no security protocols besides the usual SSL certificate, they use either sms or basic question answer security, no standards on password complexity, etc. I am certain one of my banks even stores user passwords as plain text. Banks care more about obscurity than security.

      Government regulations and conformance. I believe you have not seen what goes into security for a bank's ATM machine. What you are not considering is that the government feeds on banks. And all banks are positioning themselves against their competitors to not be the next one eaten by the government. Regulators can fine banks for arbitrary reasons. Regulators will fine banks for arbitrary reasons. It happens all the time. It was one of the most wide sweeping money grabs Obama did when he first got into the White House. Banks can fight back against the regulators in court and banks can win... but there will be no more bank left after that fight against the regulators is over. So they just pay fines for arbitrary reasons.
      Banks care about what lawyers say to protect themselves from being eaten by the government.

      - find the encryption of the requests and responses...
      last step would be:
