- Rabbit R1 AI Blind Setup and Functions
My R1 just arrived from EBay. I couldn’t wait for my batch 6 preorder.
Initial thoughts and reactions:
I was expecting cheap build, but It feels weighty and very well made. It’s less tamagotchi and more like a legit Pokédex.
I really wished there was a clear case available as the 3D printed one from Etsy is amateur quality, but I’m glad there is already screen protectors from Amazon.
The setup was easy and straightforward especially for the authentication for the LAM services. I connected my Spotify and DoorDash account through the rabbit hole website on my laptop. The rabbit hole connection setup appear to be a “virtualized” page of the Spotify or DoorDash website. I am not a tech person so I don’t know the actual technical jargon but it felt like I was logging in to my DoorDash account through a sharescreen on my zoom, hence why I describe it as “virtualized” page of the login page.
The LAM services were down or just didn’t work. I imagine it was because it was late at night and maybe the LAM services were under maintenance. I couldn’t get Spotify or DoorDash to work at all.
Bluetooth works well. My AirPods connected after several attempts but I think it was more the way the AirPods connect rather than the R1.
Both home WiFi and my phone’s hotspot works well. I have poor cell data signal at my condo and noticed delayed response if using hotspot. I’ll try again when I have 5G UW Verizon available in my area.
The Rabbit responses are not as good as Perplexity Pro. I really hope there is an update here in the future.
Vision worked well and has fast response, but it has trouble recognizing obscure K-pop Twice Lovelys sprites or Pokemon recognition from my wife’s switch gameplay.

thank you for sharing your whole setup.. It's long and when I saw the time I had to resist the temptation to run away but instead got a coffee and hunkered down.
You are a master of the silent genre :)
I hope you are able to get your money back
Why? I like it. If money wasn’t an issue for you would you buy one?
@@castle_media423 The Rabbit is apparently an android app. So no, I wouldn't buy it, i'd just get the firmware already uploaded to the internet and boot it off an android smartphone.
@@castle_media423 keep telling yourself that, it's scammy and you know it
Also their customer service was excellent. They quickly refunded me my preorder since I already bought one on eBay.
what functionality
It’s definitely limited. I still like it. It wasn’t too expensive and there are features it does better than my phone app. So far I really like the vision, voice command translator app, and audio recording with summary for personal meetings.
none thaty an app and smartphone can do faster. It's a scam and he fell for it
@@isrealme1 are you listening to coffeezilla?
@@castle_media423 you aren't apparently.
@@isrealme1 I watched it and see his channel is dedicated to this type of content. He reminds me of Thiojoe’s channel. I don’t think R1 is a scam. The product is rolled out early but I’m ok the wait and I already use the features that currently work. Namely the translator, recording with summary and push to talk AI inquiries. With the latter I probably use my perplexity pro more often. For now it’s a $200 toy and I am rooting for the company to make further improvements down the road.
So far for me. The competitive edge this device has that my AI in my phone doesn’t do is Vision (at least until I get GPT 4o) and note taking with summary.
Just realized that Spotify needs a paid account. I already have Amazon music and will wait for that to be supported.
wasted money
If money wasn’t an issue would you order one?
@@castle_media423 personally nor really,it is clunky and does not really do anything that my phone can't do, everyone is free to do whatever they want with their cash though and the colour is nice
@@castle_media423 hell no; the device is nice in theory. But doesn't work at all.
So far there are marginal convenience features with a separate device from my phone. I really like the voice command translator. I cannot command Siri or Alexa to begin a translation session outside of manually opening the app. I also really like that I can get vision feature without paying extra for gpt 4o. It also does audio recording and sends it to me with summary. The meeting note taking isn’t at all available in my phone app or Siri.
@@castle_media423 it could all be done with an app
