  • Gülfem Wanted To Murder Suleiman | Magnificent Century "GULFEM'S END"
    Magnificent Century Episode 139: • Magnificent Century Ep...
    The Magnificent Century takes leave with a breathtaking final episode. Suleiman gets plunged into darkness after Bayezid died and he gets even sicker. Selim tries to releive his pain falling back upon alcohol. Defne fights with all her strength to be able to protect her son. She understands there's no way out while she sees Nurbanu in front of her. The mother and her son walk towards the death holding onto each other. Mihrimah gets Nurbanu in a big trouble flaming with vengeance. Gülfem tries to kill Suleiman considering he is the responsible of everything has happened. However, the night ends with a dark secret. After the agony, Selim comes in the capital as the only heir to the throne. Mihrimah severs all ties with Selim since she sees him as a fratricide. Suleiman loses his strenght day by day and gets furious when he hears what his people talk about him.
    And Suleiman the Magnificent goes for his last journey in a blaze of glory. An era ends while Suleiman the Sultan of the world gasps his life out!
    At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
    The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
    As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

    In real life Gulfem was quite an important figure too, probably one of the Sultan's concubine who bore a child (before Mahi) but fortunately theirs died at young age. Any concubine who lost their child should be sent to the Old Palace (exiled), but Gulfem was different. She even had a mosque called Gulfem Hatun Mosque. Her death has several theories though, but killing the Sultan was surely not one of them.

    I think I’m going to be the only one that disagrees with her ending. Yes it deserved more attention but like most have pointed out Gulfem was the nicest, was reasonable but she also sat back and watched a lot of injustice happen to Hurrem in the beginning seasons. She also plotted against her, I know a lot of you want to Forget that but she was on Mahidevrans side, and Hatice‘s and so many others. Just because she didn’t make the plots she went along with them which makes her just as guilty. Granted Hurrem is no angel but she was a product of her environment which included Gulfem. I also can see how this was her end after watching everything and having to stay silent and watching innocent children be dragged into politics which was wrong, and no matter what anyone says Suleiman had the final say. The only child that was murdered that wasn’t a result of Suleiman’s decisions was Mehmed, so in a lot of ways I can understand her going mad.

    • @jordanxnoel
      @jordanxnoel Před 2 lety +9

      @@jennyvue602 I fully agree. I think in a way she was kind of like Mahidevran, waiting and wanting to be noticed. Because it was said in the beginning she was a concubine of his who bore children but lost them, before he became Sultan. It’s why they treated her like a sultana, obviously a lesser one but still she was treated way better than any other “concubine”. I think She liked the attention from Hatice, Hafsa Sultana etc. and she was trusted by Suleiman to a degree she really really shouldn’t have been and could’ve asked for a lot more. She was even treated and on level of “sister” to him, in later years he made her treasurer and briefly an overseer of the harem. If she had stayed neutral or stopped the injustices that happened to Hurrem in the beginning or left to be in a different palace and have luxuries that I think he would’ve most certainly granted her, there would be no need for jealousy’s and conspiracies that she allowed to happen/took part in. She had jewelry and luxury outfits like the sultana’s why not use her “power” to live a happy, better life away from the palace?

    • @jennyvue602
      @jennyvue602 Před 2 lety +4

She never stepped out of line was calm and rațional and submisive. And why does she blame Suleyman for Bayezid and Changir death? Mustafa, yes - he was killed by the order of Suleyman, but Changir and Bayezid death had nothing to do with him at all... And why would she care for other princes, she's not even the Mother. gulfem was the most precious character in this series. that woman had a terrible fate. she went from being a sultana to a literal nobody. she lost her children, the sultan's love but i never saw her complain once. she took care of mahidevran and hurrem's children as if they were own, supported valide, hatice, mahidevran and hurrem till thier very last moments with her. her wanting to kill suleiman seems irrational. she has never been the woman who held grudges or had any bias, it was painful but she accepted everyonw who suleiman accepted. she deserved a more dignified end, not to be mistakenly killed by a servant in the dark of the night. 🙁

Through the years she saw women come and go, (that must have hurt a little), she saw death from concubines, to Hatice, Ibrahim, the Queen mother on up to the 3 sons of Sueliman, never close to another man, looked upon the other princes and little sultanas like her own in a way.....and upon Hurrem's death she asked Gulfem to look after Sueliman. I think Gulfeg snapped. (as in memory over load).

This woman everyone calls ''the rational one'' fully supported all assassination attempts on Hurem, and then played innocent. In her study of Hurrem, Leslie Peirce suggests that Gulfem may have been a close and long lasting friend to Hurrem. She also did some charity work and was buried in the mosque she commissioned. There is no evidence to support the idea that she tried to kill Suleiman.
