The cake with chocolate on top you tried is a Brazilian carrot cake. That's why its orangey. Its made with rehular white flower, so when you add the carrots, the dough is a very light orange, almost yellow. And yeah, that's our winter for you, 20 something degrees Celsius, our summer on the other hand would be hell to most English people.

Gotta say though, when I went they didn't have any of those food options or the Glinda bubble, damn. Oh and also, not sure if you know this, but Teatro Renault is were the replica version was playing in 2016! And for anyone else that reads this: Elphaba and Glinda are real-life friends and were the "originals" of the replica, so this is also a contributing factor to so many people going to see this version.

I'm glad you enjoyed a piece of our theatre culture here! Fun fact: shows all have limited runs here in Brazil. We do not have resident shows in theatres like in the west end or Broadway, because our theatres are used for concerts, plays, musicals, talks, stand-up, and so on. We are starting now to have a stronger following for musicals, maybe in a couple of years this will change.
    Lots of love.

    Dear Mickey,
I am a Brazilian musical theatre fan, and I am obsessed with Wicked. I have also been watching your videos for a while now. When I saw the video title, my eyes went WIDE. I couldn't believe it! A CZcamsr that I love going to see my favourite musical (which I saw live for the first time in this exact production, this very year) in my own country, in the city that I spent years of my life in. Watching you go around São Paulo felt surreal! I saw you walking past places I recognize (and you stumbling upon the Sé Cathedral was hilarious, tbh). Hearing you talk about trying to walk to all these different places had me laughing out loud, since I know how impossible that is. This video was such a comfy one. I felt happy watching it.
But, most importantly, I teared up at your recording of the curtain call. Seeing the art in my country being recognized and spreading internationally like that made me feel weirdly proud and pulled at my heartstrings that were already quite beaten up by the fact that the Wicked run is over. Myra and Fabi are national treasures, and the entire cast worked so, so hard on making a beautiful show and putting their own Brazilian spin on it - special shoutout to Fabi's version of Popular and all the cultural references squeezed into that - that seeing it being recognized was just... beautiful.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Wicked Brazil in your review, but I'm already so happy that you're bringing attention to theatre in São Paulo. Thank you, truly, for such a lovely video 🩷💚

This looks amazing -- seems like you had a fantastic time. Thanks for showing us all of this!
On the theatres with corporate sponsorship, there are a few Broadway theatres like that -- there's the American Airlines Theatre, and the one that's now the Lyric started out named for the Ford auto company. (The Playbills from those productions have the Ford logo instead of just the word "Ford" in the space for the theatre name. The first show there was Ragtime, so that kind of made sense.) It's also pretty common for regional theatres, though I think you more often see those named for wealthy local families who donated money. (One of my local theatres was just totally rebuilt, and they had to do a lot of fundraising for it, so now it's like you walk up the Smith Family Walkway to the Jones Family Door into the Roberts Family Foyer and get a drink at the Brown Family Bar and so on, before you even get into the actual theatre itself.)

I'm Brazilian and I say São Paulo is the best city in Brazil! It can be chaotic, but there is so much to do and you can find almost anything there. It has really nice, beautiful and walkable places (although there are many ugly and dangerous ones too, like every city in Brazil). I don't live there, but I go frequently and there's alway something new to do (and new musicals to see 😁).

It holds everything and has everything you could ever think of. It's very fast paced, much like NYC. That would be the best comparison I can make. It's a nice city, it's just not as unique and festive as Rio and some other cities in Brazil. I mean, you're going to see something very similar to most global metropolises. But certainly visiting the city is an incredible experience, especially for the Brazilian urban culture and gastronomy. There's no way to find the biggest city in the Americas boring. It is really worth getting to know the city and soon after seeing other views, such as Rio, the northeast, Minas, etc.

Coincidentally, We have a run of the show starting here in August playing at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, which fun fact is inside/connected to a casino of all things, but is still very signposted. The Capitol and the Sydney Lyric are the two main (largest) venues for musicals here in Sydney but there are plenty of other theatres putting on productions (both musicals and other exciting stuff) as well. I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and NEVER go to Sao Paulo! I guess I should take a long weekend and explore! I try to go to NYC every 18 months and see as many shows as I can. I am going to support theater in Brazil now too. I wish we had more BIG productions here in Rio. I saw Company and Color Purple here and they were VERY good! If you ever come to Rio, it would be my pleasure to show you around! Thanks for your great videos!

I like how theatres in Brazil have sponsors and have the brand plastered onto the name of the theatre like it's a sports stadium, there's something admirable in its tackiness

I'm so happy Wicked Brasil is being valued internationally!! It's such an amazing production. I was in absolute awe when I saw it as well, having seen the replica production with Myra and Fabi a few years ago. So happy you liked it too!! Please come back for more shows (and pão de queijo)!! It was cute to see the culture shock to

A fun fact about the actresses who play Glinda and Elphaba is that they will star in the Brazilian production of Matilda the musical later this year. The actress who plaus Elphaba will play Mrs. Wormwood and the one who plays Glinda will be Miss Honey

I'm more than thrilled to have watched this video, it's incredible to see the city I lived in and your highlights on our theatre community, which is extremely talented and brilliant! I'm very proud! (On the other hand, I was like "MICKEY, for god's sake, put your phone away, this is a dangerous spot, you're going to get mugged"). I'm glad you've enjoyed this experience!
You can find Pão de Queijo and many other delicacies in any Brazilian store here in London, but I recommend Cantinho da Maya in Southwark.

Also, it has just been announced that Mira (Elphaba) and Fabi (Glinda) are playing Mrs Wormwood and Ms Honey in the Brazilian production of Matilda. These two have a massive fan base and are dragging crowds to the theatre!

Loved the travel vlog vibe, and how excited you were!
You're absolutely right about comfort being most important part of long haul travel.
It's nice to see more professional non-replica productions happening. I saw one of the first amateur productions (Australia was the first region to be granted rights for amateur use) and it was done quite well considering the significantly lower budgets. It'll be interesting to see if any of the ideas from newer productions filters back to the 'standard' like the Ozdust lighting from London filtered back to Broadway.

To answer your question Wicked in Australia has toured Australia 2 times already & it's always been in a musical theatre at least in Sydney. It's coming to Sydney again for a third time this month until like December I think & it's going to a newer theatre this time unlike the other 2 times. The newer venue is in a casino though so guess you can add another one with a carpark/car drop off area😜😂
I wish there were more non replica shows in Australia

Surprised to find this title in my subbox.
Started watching your videos during the Cinderella review era.
    - This is the 2nd Wicked production in Sao Paulo. The previous one was at Teatro Renault (the Lion King theater), which is actually closer to the center of the city. Those theaters in the center city are the more walkable ones, but I would never do that for evening shows. But more walkable-ish, is nothing like what you get in the West End or Broadway, still spread around.
    - Didn't get to see the Teatro Santander production, but watched the previous one, a few years after watching the London production, which the first time I watched it. Still midway through the video, very curious about your thoughts about the changes and some of the localization that I believe are consistent through the Brazilian production altogether.
    - Teatro Santander on JK Iguatemi, really in a non-walkable area of the city. All the theaters in this part of the city, are really non-pedestrian friendly, even public transport are a bit annoying in this part of the city.
    - Companies do get tax cuts by investing on cultural things. That's why we have so many large theaters with named sponsors.

Oh lovely video! You are funny! Lots of fun watching it. You can find the ingredients for the chesse bread pretty much anywhere (usually asian groceries) it's tapioca flour, oil, chesse (grated such as parmesan or anything similar), milk and eggs. The recipes are easily found. Oh you make me want to see the musical too!
