Honestly I believe Andis just made that 1.5 guard to stop people from bugging them to make it. The only people I’ve came across that didn’t feel comfortable using the Andis guard system and felt like something was missing were people who primarily used Wahl their whole career where that #1 1/2 was needed to blend the #1 into the #2. Andis master’s were my primary clipper for the majority of my career and I’ve never had an issue blending the #1 into the #2. It just isn’t necessary. I did see a couple people here on CZcams mod their double magnetic Andis guards to securely fit their Wahl clippers which will also fit securely onto BaBayliss clippers. Decided to give that a shot and I haven’t touched my Wahl premium guards since. I do keep that Wahl #1 1/2 around to do touch ups.. but not often. As far as the adjustable clippers I’ve been using I’ve gone all cordless so I haven’t used my master’s in a long time. Wasn’t a fan of the Envy and Magic clip. I loved the fx673 but retired those once the cordless seniors came out. Also love the Goldfx which I put a Wahl fade blade on. Going back to the modded double magnetic Andis guards while using it on my Cordless senior and Goldfx.. I have no problem blending the #1 into the #2 without any effort which is why I still think the double magnetic Andis #1 1/2 is pointless let alone that #1/2.
.5 andis guard i feel is for people who like to skip the 1 guard and blend into a 1.5 guard. You can blend into the .5 and the .5 blends into the 1.5 pretty easily also
As a self taught barber for friends and family I have transitioned to professional products and tools in my bag. I just picked up a pair of Cordless Seniors and a Cordless Magic Clip. I haven’t tried the Andes Double Magnetic Guards yet, think I will go ahead and pick up a set! I’ve been using Wahl Premium Guards for a long time how....
Stick to wahl guard system forever if you’ve always been a wahl guy. It will just frustrate you transitioning. I just recently got andis master and I wish wish wish the wahl guards fit on them.
can you replace the new 0.5 with the 0 , i cant blend with the 0 because they have a small teeth and the new 0.5 is slightliy longer. can i replace it when i do a fade. for example open lever > 0.5 closed> 1 closed > 0.5 open > etc
I don't see why people complain about not liking the Wahl gaurd system? It's the same as the Andis. Traditionally except you don't get a 1.5? I have heard barbers compaining about this. I don't get what there really is to complain about? That's just me??
the whal guard system sucks to be honest you have to use 4 guards between the 2 and the bald line on the andis masters you can get it done with just 2 guards you don't need a 1.5 on masters at all

"Congratulations you played yourself" -dj khaled. Bruh the andis doublemagnetic 2 is almost the same thickness as the wahl #1 1/2, theres no need at all for that andis 1 1/2.
The same way you don’t need the 1 1/2 guard for andis. Doesn’t that also mean that you don’t need the half guard ? Because can’t you just open the blade all the way up up to the one. For example maneuvering the taper lever giving you the 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and the full 1 lever all the way open ? So is the half guard really needed ??
You can but what people dont understand is the master opens to a 1 blade not a 1 guard. so if you leave the clipper flat on the head it wont blend into a 1 guard. You have to feather/freehand it in to get it to blend perfectly.

Only thing about Andis guards now that doesn't make sense is that their .5 guard goes between the blade open and the 0 guard, even though .5 is a bigger number than 0, so you technically have them laid out in the wrong order. Andis .5 guard is the smallest, not 0.
I heard the envy’s are better with the single magnetic guards because of the screw positioning on the blade being in the same positions as the magnets on the double magnetic, so it won’t sit snug. The single magnetic magnet sits between the screws, so it will stay on

Angelo Mags I feel like the Masters have the longest throw of all the clippers. Maybe that’s why it’s easy to blend without a 1.5 guard.

The 1/2 will make the difference, I used it already. The wahl 1/2 guard it's closer than the Andis zero guard. They're not the same.
