Im a professional barber. I completely hate the new 0 guard. I absolutely loved the old 0 guard. Many barbers i know have expressed these same feelings. Andis, could you please bring back the old 0 double magnetic guard. It was perfect. We as barbers are begging you. Please!!!!!!!!
Barber of 15 years here. A lot of people are complaining about this 0 (zero) guard being low quality and the teeth being rounded..etc. Be aware- there are 2 number 0 purple (double magnet) guards out there. The pointy teeth version blends great on tight/nappier hair(ie, Black people hair) and the rounded teeth version blends great on thin/stringy hair(ie, White people/Asian). Do what I did and just keep a few sets of both on hand at all times- you WON'T regret it. You're welcome!
I’m definitely a fan of the older style. I tried playing around with the Andis premium 0 guard, because it’s similar, but it’s just not the same. I’m still actively searching for the old style. I’m hopefully that they’ll bring it back. Especially now that the cordless is .
I’ll noticed this when I bought a guard set. The older zero with longer teeth cuts way better IMO. Damn, I had no idea you can’t get them anymore. Shame
I think of all barbers started a petition they’d see that they messed up by changing the style . Forsure people would sign it I don’t know one person who likes the new guards they suck
Don't know if you heard! I was told they Andis didn't own the patent for the 0 guard. The basically are trying to force us to use the premium gaurds. I myself will try to see if someone with a 3D printer to make a version of the gaurd. Not tripping on the magnet aspect will figure that out eventually.
How do you change something that’s not broken. People use the purple, magnetic guards and all the clippers. We do modifications to put these purple. Magnetic guards on all clippers. Now they have this Wahl style zero guard. It’s rounded on the edges which is terrible. The old one has the pointy edges, which lifts the hair up and makes, fading and more importantly detailing way better
Thanks for the info. Frustrating to see things that work get modified into uselessness. I had to move away from Andis in general because when I replace an andis product the quality always degrades.
Love this review. Iv'e been a registered barber since 1986. Was online looking for this particular older guard and came across this video. Everything you've said about the guard is true. I hope that I can find it somewhere. Will try not to buy all of them. Hopefully Andis will resume making older guard.
I personally hate the new gaurds. They are literally a wahl replica, which would be fine if it didnt encourage the motion of "rubbing" the fade out as opposed to being able to lift the hair with the old style. They never should have changed it. I still have mine in good condition but I'm looking for alternative options. It's really a shame.

Andis is the only clipper company that makes changes to their products for the worse. The original Styliner once used pretty much the same blade as the T-Outliners. Now they have a blade thats overly complicated to get set right. The original double magnetic guards where concidered by many to be the best guards of all time. For some reason Andis chooses to revise them to the single magnetic guards, which are terrible! I guess Wahls sells lead forced them to try to convert some of their users by offering a similar guard system as Wahl. The new 1/2 and 1 1/2 guards are stolen right from Wahl. I've said it before that I feel Andis has lost their way, I just hope that they figure it out soon.
And the Original Master old version model M is better then the new version off the Master.. in the old days the clippers and the blades was made very more good from today

@@jasonbirdi8141 The closest you’ll get to the OG Andis 0 guard would be the Speed-O 00 guard. It works very well it just doesn’t have the pointed teeth. Hope that helps

Im so frustrated with the new guards! I received them and actually thought they were fake and returned them. They are ugly, thin, poorly made.. wtf . Why did andies have to change something that was perfect already. I never faded better then with my Fast feeds zero gapped with ceramic coarse cutting blade and my double magnetic andies old style nanos.. now I have to use something else. The masters are so heavy 😫 Whyyyyyyyy!!

You can but it won't work as well with the fatsfeeds. The old one is the best. But I am having trouble finding it.
