I recently learned about *Existential Intelligence* exploring my *INTJ.*
🤔I guess proof of my *Existential Intelligence* is that I suffer from existential depression.
And my existential depression is the main reason why I dissociate from my emotions + often feel depressed/down.
👨‍🏫 *Existential Intelligence (EI),* as proposed by Howard Gardner in his *Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory,* refers to the capacity to ponder deep questions about human existence. People with high EI engage in introspective thinking and contemplate abstract concepts related to life, death, and the universe. Here are some key points about EI:
    1. *Characteristics of Existential Intelligence* :
    - *Philosophical Perspective* : Individuals with high EI see the world from a philosophical lens. They explore questions about the origin of life, the meaning of existence, and what happens after death.
    - *Promotion of Positive Values* : EI is associated with promoting positive values such as love, truth, and compassion.
    - *Enjoyment of Self-Care* : People with EI often prioritize self-care and introspection.
    - *Helping Others* : They tend to enjoy helping others and engaging in meaningful conversations.
    2. *Cultivating Existential Intelligence* :
    - *Reflective Thinking* : Engage in reflective or deep thinking. Consider existential questions and explore various perspectives.
    - *Reading and Exploration* : Read philosophical texts, literature, and explore different viewpoints.
    - *Mindfulness Practices* : Practices like meditation and mindfulness can enhance EI.
    - *Contemplation* : Spend time contemplating life's deeper aspects.
    3. *Career Paths for Existentially Intelligent Individuals* :
    - *Psychology and Therapy* : Careers that involve understanding human behavior, emotions, and mental health.
    - *Teaching* : Educators who encourage critical thinking and philosophical discussions.
    - *Church Leadership* : Roles that involve guiding others spiritually.

    Can relate, also infj.
    [[[ 3 brief tips from experience ]]]
    - there's no magic way, and time doesn't stop. So, find the struggle that YOU'RE comfortable with.
    - follow your passion, or the closest thing.
    - Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year . . . And underestimate what they can accomplish in ten years.
    PS
I'm in the states and have had three really great Dutch buddies in my life. The one now is my sailing buddy, hes 6'8" and 240 pounds, ha! They've all been huge, friendly guys, love the Dutch : )

The kinds of goals/ideas that I find most compelling and keep me going for the longest are things that often can't properly be reached. Often a single concrete idea feels too specific and narrow, I find I'm always drawn to more holistic/idealist goals. But as you say in the video it is really important to see a path to approach them with. If I can see a path to get closer I can find going on that journey really fulfilling, even when I know the goal is not fully reachable. But if I can't see a way to make any progress then like you say it can be really disheartening. When this happens I can find it really difficult to tell if I just need more time to figure out what to do or if I need to give up on / change the original goal. When I feel this way about something, I tend to only feel better about it when I find a new way to look at the goal itself, a way that makes it more suitable and relevant for me but doing this can take me very long time because I need to have changed in myself in some way that allows me to take on the new outlook.
Something that almost always help me make progress with these kinds of ruts is using an extroverted function (typically Fe & Se but Ne & Te can also help) but they often don't come as naturally to me and so it can take me a while to figure out how to make them happen.
    Another really great video!
I hope that if there was anything (or set of things) in particular that inspired this video that they work out for you soon :)

It can happen and when it happens then there's no meaning. That doesn't mean 'depression' per se. Just.... er.... can't explain it.
In my case I'm getting closer to retirement age and I can't be arsed retiring. Self improvement/fighting for a cause/finding meaning in the future - that's everything. It's about being the best version of yourself and knowing you'll never be perfect - you'll chase it, it's even more of a quest 'cos you'll never reach that perfection.

    Great vid.
A healthy one inches towards their idea day by day with new insights from their progress which inspire growth spurts toward the goal.
Unhealthy ones kinda forget their dream and see it only as a distant memory of something they once wanted and thought they could have. Tormented by knowing it's possible, but unable to stick their foot out & walk towards it. Nobody sees their Ni as important and so they dont either. They never learn to trust it. Sticking their foot out, they imagine a bed of thorns and stay in the safety of the known. Locked in this reality and not the next one that they can see from where they stand. Their mind uses cynicism as a tool for why they're stuck. Theyll even discredit some things they once knew to be true. Changing their judgement of it bc they know any possibility could be true. They discredit their own insights which locks them in a state of uncertainty.

It does happen time to time specially when thing goes slow and the exterior world does not align with the timeline that have been anticipated. It can comes in waves of regrets, sadness and impatience. Learn to accept reality for what is and not what ifs become a lesson in itself to be able to change things which are within reach and that you can control. In work setting, leadership or be in control is quite important to not be frustrated and allow the core strength to work in flow.
Since INFJs are finisher/Chart the course types and progression... The outcome is not necessarily always keep in mind but set as a milestone to be reach. They tend to see the better path forward, hence the other nickname "Foreseer developer" and can accelerate the project into reality (Why when InxJs are in charge of project, it is quite close to perfection).
The danger for come when alone is the closer we come to the milestone, the more the initial vision become distort and new possibilities come to mind which can cause vagueness leading to discouragement. Deadline and a way to measure progression (which does not come natural at all but is a learn skill that we more easily pick up from other people rather on our own - using FE for socialising and allow our NI to adopt it through pattern recognition) is one way to control the procrastination that come with it.
Not seeing the future is also tied to a lack of experience of life and reveals a need to perform or have more action pace decision making. It is also a sign of repression in a way specially link to low self confidence/esteem, the more experience we have the more possibilities, connections and pattern recognition we can have to start anew and give a new flow to our vision.
INFJ need to keep learning and acquire observed experience it keep the self sane but the lack of action taking or too much tunnel visioning are things that need to be kept in check

Hey since youtube keeps deleting the links I post I will just post the content from the website. K so anyways INFJs like all types have two subtypes the more extroverted Fe subtype and the more introverted Ni subtype and here is the description of the Ni subtype which is the type you have Kuro Tadorii.
    Appearance
The intuitive subtype appears as a calm, tactful, languid and diffident individual. He seems torn from reality, inert and poorly adapted to life. However, such impressions are erroneous, for he possesses a fine intuition, which aids him in establishing useful connections and obtaining support from influential people. Externally he seems serene, but in his heart he is sentimentally predisposed, has bouts of moodiness and melancholy, and regrets his mistakes and misfortunes for a long time. His mimicry is somewhat monotonous, often shows an expression of light amazement or full interest in his conversation partner. His gaze is dreamy and pensive, slightly strained, with a bit of luster, often expressing melancholy, attentiveness, or sardonic irony. His speech is measured, smooth, and intimately heart-felt. On his face there is almost constantly a polite half-smile that easily predisposes towards trust. Gestures are modest, timid, undemonstrative. Gait is unhurried and smooth.
    Character
Soft and considerate person. In his heart he is a dreamer and a romantic. Has figurative, associative memory, and can recall experiences from the past down to the smallest detail. Somewhat unsure in himself, inclined to doubt and hesitate in cases he has to speak or act decisively. He does not like to hurry, can delay carrying out tasks and finding solutions to problems to an indefinite period of time. Reminiscing about the past, he recalls all the mistakes and mishaps, then extracts from them lessons for the future. Thanks to a strong intuition sees short-term prospects of affairs and relations, but because of the tendency to idealize everything may also overestimate them. Under any circumstances does not lose hope that in future everything will turn out for the better than in the present situation.
Usually does not aspire to leadership and finds it difficult and tiring to handle organizational functions. Gravitates more towards intellectual sphere of activity than towards hands-on management and production. Dislikes routine, monotony, stereotypes, conventionality, strict order, having to follow rules and regulations. Likes to talk about various unconventional and mysterious phenomena, seeks new experiences, feels attracted to interesting and unusual people. Willingly accepts and promotes unordinary ideas and innovative approaches, but shows caution in new ventures; in such cases prefers to yield initiative to those who are more assertive and energetic. However, if necessary, exhibits outstanding diplomatic skills, achieving success where others, more straightforward and impatient partners who do not attribute much value to flexibility in relationships, would usually give up. Does not know which of the two disputants he should favor, therefore, will try to reconcile them.
In work can become distracted by irrelevant details, and thus run out of time to accomplish the more important tasks. In his apartment or at his workplace may allow for creative mess and disorganization. Being practical, thrifty, and calculating is not in his nature, due to which he misses some major opportunities. Respects strong, influential people. Needs moral, physical, and material support. Due to absentmindedness sometimes forgets to fulfill his promises, but then does his best to make up and make amends.
Sensitive and attentive to other people, tries to maintain even relations with everyone. Exhibits tolerance towards the flaws and weaknesses of others. Does not break immediately those relationships that have been exhausted for he grows used to people. Knows how to patiently wait and how to adapt to any circumstances. For the sake of good relations with those close to him, tries to meet their requirements for him, to develop practical skills, to perform at school and work, and to fulfill his family responsibilities.
    Description by Victor Gulenko
Usually looks calm, dreamy, and contemplative. His facial expression is typically interrogative. Line of behavior is frequently passive. Romantic spirit, lives in the world of illusions and tries to avoid the negative. Optimistic. As a rule, avoids conflict situations and supports compromise. Constrained in the way he dresses. Elegant and refined. Can fulfill functions of staff assistant in presence of a “strong hand”, take up work in psychology and psychotherapy.

The test-retest reliability is around 0.5 to 0.6, which is absolutely garbage. What that means is that about 50% of people who took the test, after two and a half years get different results on a retest. I've taken the test three times pretty evenly spaced over 4 years and have gotten INFP, INTP, and ISFP. I am diagnosed with ASD, so it's possible that might be throwing a wrench in the works. It doesn't seem that it's accurate for neurotypical people from what I've read anyway.

      @omeirai124 Před 6 měsíci +3

@@quinsutton7097 it's because the test itself is garbage, but the cognitive functions are an interesting way to look at how a person functions and approaches life! and if you were interested in studying them, i'm pretty sure you could find a profile that consistently matches yours overall, even though humans are flexible depending on situations, obviously. remember that all models are false, some of them are useful!

thank you for your wise, well thought-out criticism, doomer tech nerd. maybe you wouldn't be in such doom if you realized all of psychology is composed of models that approach reality with more or less precision, yet aren't reality. if it's useful, it's useful, doesn't matter who coined it (in this case, it's Carl Jung, if your mind needs some credentials)

@@omeirai124 I'll admit that you're right, I should think a bit more before saying something. All generalisations we make about human behaviour will turn out wrong; personality types aren't real, they're just social constructs. However, social constructs are some of the most useful things humans can make. I'm fine with people using the MBTI so they can discover an identity. I'm not fine with employers using it to assess applicants, or schools using it to make plans for your personalized learning. When it's being used for those purposes I think it should be held to a much higher standard.
