If you're looking for more wood carving designs and videos, I recommend watching the video where I carve a greek paddle with a Dremel 4300. I use Walnut, Poplar, and Epoxy! The epoxy was a hassle but came out really cool. - Jak na to + styl
I've had a Dremel 4000 for years but had never used the Flexi shaft that came with it. Today I wanted to do some finer work so decided the Flexi shaft was needed, but I couldn't see how to get the shaft to turn so searched and found your video. I then realised the obvious - that I needed the "DRIVE CAP that came with the Flexi Shaft"!😊. Rummaged around in my Dremel bits container and surprisingly found exactly the thing I needed hiding away in a corner. Brilliant!
Thanks for doing the video.
No problem Peter. Glad you got it going! Thanks for watching
Total lifesaver for a newbie with a secondhand dremel 3000 🙏🙏 thank you!
No problem Alexandria! Thanks for watching
thank you for that.new to this dremel working, oldmick
Great video. Mad respect for answering comments.
Thank you - also I love getting comments to read
Thanks! I have an older (old) wired dremel, but your video was just the ticket to hook up my old flexible attachment! These are great also if you are working with glass and want the work to be wet. The electronics are hung high and dry. Thanks again!
Great point about glass! How do you keep the glass wet while working? I often struggle with that
Usually you have a small stream of water constantly running over the work to keep flushing the dust/material away from you. So working in a sink.
Thank you! This was very helpful
I’m glad it was helpful Jessica! Thanks for commenting
thank you for this video. Great Help.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the comment
Thanks! I'd forgotten about that tip with the square hole.
Happy to help! Thanks
That was what saved me! I grabbed the item I thought was my Drive cap (it was black) thinking they were the SAME -- they weren't! So I wasted some time but thanks to you I'm Flying Right now! @@LogsCarvingClub

Thanks for the info…

Nice vid. I've seen people use a pedal, so you don't need to reach to stop it every yime
Hi! I was considering getting one but I don’t think I need one
Hi I'm in UK. I have just bought a DREMEL 3000.
Can I attach BUSCH BURRs these are sold by jewellery maker TO MAKE HOLES IN BEADS and PEARLS bigger?
I have contacted Dremel and Jewellery Maker. Getting an answer is tough. Janet
I just bought the dremel 3000, it came with the flex, i followed your instructions but it's not working, any ideas please?
You can definitely get quick change chuck for it.
Yeah it’ll fit, it’s a bit bulky though and if I remember correctly you’re not supposed to use it for whatever reason
You can use a Foredom foot pedal to control the on/off of your dremel.
Sounds convenient - have you tried it?
I bought a quick change adapter and it fits on my flex shaft. Looks like you have one on yours. It is different from the regular collet cap that comes on most dremels. If you don’t want to use the little wrench grab a gerber and lock the pliers on the outside and just check that you finger tightened it enough. I have never lost a bit
Is there a way to use this tool to accommodate 1/4" eraser sticks? They work great for polishing buttons. I was using an architects electric eraser but they no longer make the unit I like that is smaller for a woman hand. The flex shaft looks like it would work but only accommodates 1/8" wondering if they make an adapter to fit larger shafts.
Hi Mary, I don’t think the flex shaft (or a regular dremel for that matter) will take a 1/4 inch attachment. If you find an adaptor, I’d be very suspicious of it. You could try a foredom, or a die grinder (both expensive sorry) or maybe a regular power drill?
Can the flex shaft be attached to Dremel Lite? I can't find any reference that it's compatible.
Hi Keng, it looks like you could attach it since the dimensions of the nose cap are the same as a full sized dremel, but I don't see the need to use one since the dremel lite is so light and small anyways, and it's cordless. The dremel lite also doesn't have anything to let you hang it upright and I don't think it will have enough power to sustain the flex shaft, so I wouldn't personally mount a flex shaft onto it.
So what is done with the dremel motor when using the flex shaft, yeah, hang it on the wall? The workstation would be great, if you could replace the captive nut with the flex cable. Same goes for the dremel vice.
I have mine hung up on the wall next to my carving table about 3 feet above the surface on a DIY mount. You're supposed to keep it higher and minimize how much the shaft bends. I haven't been able to try the workstation (I've never had the need). Do you like yours?
I have this type dremel and flex shaft but it makes strange noise while turning on. What can be wrong? Without flex shaft it works silently but when i use with flex shaft it makes strange noise.
I'm not sure without seeing it... sorry. Mine sounds different with the flex shaft on, but I believe that's normal. Are you sure the shaft and drive adaptor are configured correctly?
I'm using a dremel 4300 with a flex shaft. I can't get the cutting disc off of the flex shaft. I cannot find a video on how to do that
Sometimes it gets stuck, have you tried loosening the collet nut as much as you can and pushing the bit in instead of out?
If the problem is the shaft won’t lock to loosen it, I’m not really sure. Usually I just mess with it and press the shaft lock button as hard as I can
How come you need to hang the dremel above the flex shaft?
It helps to ensure the flex shaft doesn’t bend too much while you’re using it, also it keeps it out of the way. If the shaft bends too much you stress the cable and can break it
i have a new Dremel and it didn't come with a square part either, the shaft doesn't have one also
If you mean the part that couples the shaft cord with the dremel, it should’ve come with the shaft
@@LogsCarvingClub their all round
My drive Adapter doesn’t look like this OR have a square hole. 🤷🏻♀️
Is it a different brand? Or maybe a newer model? I may have to look into making a new video if they updated the model
_Thanks!_ The damn manual doesn't mention anything about this.
No problem - thanks for commenting!
The shaft didn't work!
Are you sure the drive adapter was on and the metal inner cable was in there properly?
@@LogsCarvingClub well, it finally worked after everything was tightend to its max.
