    This is a really informative helpful video but I wonder how I overcome the problem I have that the soil pipe on mine is an old iron one. It comes out too far as it is so the cistern has a block of wood behind it and the tiles. If I fit one of those plastic sleeves like the one you push the outlet into my toilet will be even further off the wall than it is now. All the videos seem to have convenient soil pipes. How do you overcome a problem like that without having to change
    the downpipes etc

    any tips. my toilet is very similar, but after a flush it won't stop and overflows constant, do I need a new cistern as it looks like a spurious make, cheers

    • @chembleton
      @chembleton Před 8 lety

      when it constantly overflows, it's usually the mechanism inside that needs adjusting. It may just be stuck, give it a wiggle. I'm not an expert but fixed my sisters due to hers overflowing where the water wasn't being switched off by the mechanism when it should. I had been twisted and was sticking against the inside of the cistern

  • @rubarubadub
    @rubarubadub Před 7 lety +6

    Why did you add nuts at the bottom of the cistern? The cistern looks very precarious sitting on the pan like that. Also once there's 6 litres of water in the cistern, there'll be a lot of weight concentrated on those two nuts

    silicone and water not a good idea you would have to wait for it to dry, my husband uses instead putty on the washers for a better seal and leak prevention, never the less a great video keep it up!

    c'mon you guys, a little common sense here, as you drill the wall holes you put a little downward pressure on the drill,cos' you know that the cistern will be pulled down by a few mm, it's not rocket science,if you can't follow it,why are you viewing it ?
