Thank you!
Great video but the audio volume of this is kinda low for laptops unfortunately fyi !
beautiful thumbnail
We came for the music but we absolutely stayed for Dan, what a gem of a man.
Hearing you jam out to Aquatic Ambiance was so freaking cool
The guitar sounded so pretty 🤍
I'd love to see you do more titles you're familiar with. Blind reactions are great, but it's a nice change of pace when you are familiar with the music already and can gush about it even more.
Stoked you are stoked! #stoked
your jam session to aquatic ambience was the best I need that as an mp3
Yooooo I’m actually live for one of these. One of my fave snes games.
Dude i'm hyped for this suit alone, god bless you man lol
Kong in concert is one of my favorite OC Remix albums.
I can't believe I not only missed the original live stream on Twitch for this, but also it's premiere on CZcams! Donkey Kong Country is one of those all-time classic SNES games, and it's soundtrack is now legendary among gamers, particularly DK Island Swing, Aquatic Ambiance, and Gang-Plank Galleon. David Wise gets most of the credit when it comes to this game's soundtrack, but Eveline Novakovic/Fischer and Robin Beanland also contributed music to this game, and it's all fantastic! They seriously can't get enough credit for how wonderfully memorable the whole thing turned out. I'm really glad you finally got around to doing a reaction stream for DKC's OST and you got to talk about it; again, sorry for missing out originally. PS, please put this towards Pizza Tower's OST, I refuse to let it lose its spot within the top 5!
Counted!
Didn’t make the Pink Floyd - Aquatic Ambiance connection until, like, seconds before someone commented about it. Very fitting of the Wish You Were Here era.
And that chord you were picking out in Aquatic Ambiance, I always just think of as a Bb/D. Could be some spice on it like an add9
Hi Dan. I don't know if you've ever heard of the CZcams channel "Jammin Sam Miller," but he restored ALL the soundtracks for the ENTIRE Donkey Kong Country trilogy and has playlists on his channel for them. They are INCREDIBLY clear and I would highly recommend listening to them!
WHAT IS THAT I LOVE THATT XD THAT'S AMAZING THANK YOU DAN
Both for the reactions and the awesome costume!
I'm glad you like it🎉
Dude you're great, fun playing along with you to this classic soundtrack! You need to do Banjo Kazooie, you'll smile ear to ear
Seeing you solo over Aquatic Ambience was so cool, made me think of a song from Meddle
DKC is my childhood the OST is ultra nostalgic for me. The music all fits the themes of the areas and levels so well. A great iconic soundtrack.
I'm not saying he oughta wear the costume the whole time......but maybe the tie?
PLEASE tell me he's wearing that for the entire video
Edit: oh my GOD
Tune in and find out.
The man's nothing if not committed. I just couldn't see him wearing the costume and taking it off later.
I definitely know that I love your channel, just specifically because you actually bought a donkey Kong costume for this stream. Along with even showing off how to play the music on guitar too. You're going all out and I really appreciate it for how much dedication you put into your content!
It’s so awesome to see you discussing the soundtrack of Donkey Kong Country 1. Such phenomenal music, especially Aquatic Ambience (one of my favorites). I hope you check out the rest of the trilogy as well!
Oh yeah. I'm looking forward to this. Loving the outfit
I met David Wise last year at Comic Con Germany in Stuttgart and I tried to express how much I love his music, especially for this game of my childhood. I hope he got the message, I kinda made an ape out of myself there (which is a german phrase that means I felt very embarassed afterwards for some things I said).
I'm sure he's encountered much more awkward people. I also hope he's proud of his accomplishments, because it brings many people joy to this very day
here strictly for the DK outfit
Hearing these songs gives me chills of nostalgia even to this day. Great video
Omg. Cant wait when you get to DKC2!
Yeeeey!!! My second favorite Soundtracks after Final Fantasy 7 and several other Final Fantasy games. (my third favorite are Age of Wonders 1)
Love this OST so much, very excited for this!!
This soundtrack is aboslutely genius. These were the best times for gaming
I'm really enjoying the Retro soundtracks and Dan jamming along just makes me smile everytime. Keep up the good work! Also my favorite partner animal is the parrot from DKC2 xD
I hadn't heard those final bits in Cave Dweller Concert either, nice
Can’t wait for the reaction to arguably the greatest OST of all time, Donkey Kong Country 2.
Great video, love the outfit. Mine cart madness is a favorite of mine because of all the different timing. You don’t know where you are!
Glad to see he’s dressed for the occasion!
Omg one of the games from my childhood 😂
Cant wait for this
Him just vibing with Aquatic Ambience is great. I was new to video games when I first played this, and getting lost in the water level with this music was such an experience. It’s like “Go ahead, just swim around aimlessly. We got your ears.”
this ost a little too fire for a game about monkeys
What I really like about DKC music is the buildup. DK Island Swing starts with just the percussion, and it’s a journey going from that to the instruments adding on, then the energetic main melody, then that softer but moody aftermath. It’s fantastic.
18:20 you do hear all 3 parts in level 1. Story goes David Wise made 3 songs when asked for a jungle-style intro level and they were all so good Nintendo asked if he could combine all 3 into one song. The 1st song is the beginning, and the 2nd starts once the drums and piano kick in (the iconic part), the 3rd song which does indeed play on a loop w the first two is right after.
thank you for making these videos dan. your positive personality and excitement for music makes your reactions and jam sessions a joy to watch and listen to! :)
Glad you like them!
You're awesome Dan! thanks for listening to this legendary soundtrack!!
Thanks for listening!
Aaaaaaw I missed it. Welp, thank goodness there's the VOD! Gonna enjoy this :D
Hope you enjoy it!
Some of the best games on the Super Nintendo!
Agreed
Hello, a great reaction as always and teaching more about music, it was great.
speaking of great...
I know it is the ost number 318 to be reacted but I can't help but suggest the reactions to the ost of the great ace attorney, it really has some amazing melodies that will leave you fascinated.
Thanks for reading this comment and have a nice day.
this is so hype
Fun fact: Funky's Fugue was actually written by Robin Beanland for Killer Instinct. For some reason, Nintendo used the song to promote Donkey Kong Country at E3 and it worked so well they actually used it in the game.
And it doesn’t even sound like Killer lnstinct to me 😂
Saying it right now, you've gotta try listening to Rayman Legends ost! Its amazing and they use rock N roll a lot so i think you'd love it! (By the way, awesome video, love the DK Cosplay)
42:18 I replayed the "Pink Floyd vibes" portion of the video so many times, that guitar solo was literally having a conversation with my soul.
Gosh this OST is seriously amazing.
IMO one of the best game OSTs
Hey! I think a soundtrack you may enjoy is for Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn/Path of Radiance. Radiant Dawn in particular has really beautiful and powerful pieces. Other fire emblem games that have good sountracks is 3 houses, and fates.
Um, interesting thumbnail here.
The version of the Temple theme from Donkey Kong Land on Gameboy is my favorite version of that song
Voices of the Temple? or Kremlantis?
@@GeoGyf I think the Game Boy version is just called "Temple"
@@ryanfoster2869 It could be called 'Voices of the Temple DK Land edition' as its the same basic melody, but cranked to 11. I agree the Gameboy version is better as it is more upbeat and more energetic, carrying the momentum forward.
I also like the 'Construction Site Fight' as well. Similar vibes with the aforementioned song.
I will always appreciate how engaging, entertaining and good at explaining music intricacies for us Dan is, the Donkey Kong cosplay brought a big smile to my face. 😄
Did the DK head muffled the headphone sound too much?
YOOO this is cool. also nice costume!! btw I just saw "Legend of mana" on your upcoming list. when do you start to reacting it?
Was hoping you'd do the Smash Bros. version of Gangplank Galleon
DK2 is my favorite but I love the SNES DK Country games.
I like that the GBA version had a code you press (hold select and type in ballad(pad down) thats the version i listened to the most...i had the original donkey Kong when i was a little kid my cousin played it..dont know where the cartridge is anymore
I got flashbacks when that title theme started, such a great game, must have been one of my first games ive watched my big brother playing :D great video as always, hope to catch you live one day
42:18 just enjoy. Pink Floid Time.
See pizza tower ost is one of the best osts out there
The real mind blowing part is this isn't the peak. DKC2 trumps this
treetop rock hit different as a kid. something about those treetops were so mystical and mysterious
It's really awesome to finally see Dan in his truest form.
Just would love to add that Funky's Theme was a track that was from a Killer Instinct promo video.
Wait. This is my favorite soundtrack ever. Thank you for doing this. I haven’t even heard anything yet. Lol I know it will be great!
Dave Wise srsly did not have to go that hard for Donkey Kong. But, the man had a dream.
Dan what a gem you are to the music community!
It all makes sense now. Dan was raised by Donkey Kong.
David wise is a legend. What an absolutely amazing compozer
I really love donkey kong country ost but man even the gameboy versions is fire as well. really nice costume as well :D fire!
Dan: *Rips the most edgy, slow burning, soulfull guitar solo to freaking Aquatic Ambience no less, off the top of his head*
Also Dan: So anyway.
Can't wait for DK tropical freeze. 😀
Was hoping you'd finally get to the DKC games! ❤
David Wise is my all time favourite composer. All his work for the Donkey Kong Country series is phenomenal. I really hope you do reactions DKC2, DKC3 and DKC: Tropical Freeze (that one's my favourite VGM soundtrack of all time) because they are all top tier music. DKC: Returns is nice too but it is a different composer and the tracks are mostly (if not all, not sure) remakes of original tracks from the original DKC Trilogy. It deserves love too, but when David came back for Tropical Freeze he completely blew it out of the water.
The melody of the title theme actually originates from the NES release of Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong country Ost is just a ride, when it comes to "ambience" this game is usually what comes to mind and its one of my examples to use personally.
Donkey Kong country 2 is when they peaked sound wise for me, David wise and his team did a amazing job here and on the sequel and it echoes decades later. He did come back to work on the last and latest game in the series: Tropical freeze. you should give it a shot in the future if you are ever curious. His recent work is excellent too.
The beginning jingle in the title theme is a nod to the original Donkey Kong title theme back in the NES. same jingle, its like its saying this donkey Kong BUT NEW! its kinda cool how they shift from the original to the new sound.
My top 10 DK songs of all time:
#10 Slammin’ Steel
#9 Mining Melancholy
#8 Amiss Abyss
#7 Life in the Mines
#6 Homecoming Hijinx
#5 Aquatic Ambience
#4 Lockjaws Saga
#3 Krook’s March
#2 Stickerbrush Symphony
#1 Forest Interlude
can we talk about how hard the title theme goes for a second?
great!
I don't know if you alrealdy plan to, but react to the music of DKC2 as well!! I would love to see your thoughts on David Wise's more mature compositions
I love this game! Brings so much nostalgia!!!
Keep the Tie for the next videos
niceeeeeee
David Wise is one of my favorite VGM composers (along with Geoff Knorr and Shogo Sakai) and I'm happy to see that you're covering his Magnum Opus!
This isn't DKC2...
(half-joking :) )
when do u start to reacting Legend of mana soundtrack? sorry, i dont really understand the spreadsheet song list. it is so confusing to me
Today at 11:30 Am ET on twitch: www.twitch.tv/musicexpertdanspencer
@@MusicTheoryforGamers omg
@@MusicTheoryforGamers i think i missed it, i overslept cus it got so much time difference and im unable to watch ur live twitch 😔
Dan, I love your channel and your videos, but it’s a crime you haven’t covered DKC2 - it’s widely regarded as David Wise’s masterpiece and one of the greatest game soundtracks of all time. Like, top 3!!
I still come back to 42:21 to this day. Actually jammed out alongside this time with my own bass. Funny how that works, isn't it?
Man David Wise really nailed it with this awesome OST!
I really hope to get you review a very underrated OST from a Sega Genesis RPG called Shining Force 2. Music by a very accomplished composer called Motoaki Takenouchi. Lots of harmony material to learn from there!
He's gone full monkey mode
1:47:24 loved that Yellow Ledbetter there Dan
3:27 - ultrakill failed, Folkswaggon.
Dude you need to listen to some clone hero custom music, it’s to good not to share to a separate community, I recommend crystalline my tornith and H-ell by 3
Got donkey kong in my animal crossing game randomly. I didn't know he was in the game.
If only they added some dk music in his room
10:50 That was the first time I heard beautiful sound coming from a Nintendo console back in the day. Possibly the last time too. At least not until aquatic ambience.
Unique game and unique ost. Loved all three games. When you are not sure of which OST to do next, I have a decent playlist from other uploaders. Just want you to know more good OSTs. These are the OSTs from the games I have played, there are still a lot more that need to be in my current playlist tho.
11:01 bro turned into diddy kong
Please please do a full electric guitar cover over the Aquatic ambiance track!
58:18 Anyone else hear a hint of "Battle on the Big Bridge" here?
17:30 level one goes from day to night. But the music change isn't triggered by that. It kind of works out though.
