    For ventilation, you can build two soundproof boxes, each with a maze of right angles that dissipates the sound. One has air blown in from vent, the other blows air out to wherever.

      that's true. Luckily this is over cement. However on the cement is 1 inch rigid foam then 5/8" tongue and groove plywood. then laminate flooring

    Hi Landon, Thank you very much indeed, for the clarification, between sound proof (decoupling the room and air tightness) and acoustic treatment (the acoustics of your room have more-to-do with sound quality), huge misconception, so I've searched, and: the Foam Panels - Their Real purpose, is to absorb sound reflections, removing the natural reverb from the room, so that those reflections, do not get recorded, and what remains, is the direct sound from the instrument to the microphone. Take care.

    Cool sound room, well thought out! It's decades since I built a house for myself and now like many youtube guitar enthusiasts it's only apartments. Most of us will not even have the option of installing sound foam on walls from strict tenant agreements. Amps set at so called 'bedroom volume' are misleading since it will still give you noise complaints in many buildings. Headphones are tolerable but I miss the air moving from an amp speaker. We need a prefab, self contained, sound proof POD that we can buy and install in any apartment. BTW you didn't give us the dB reading outside the window, in my experience that is a weak spot for sound proofing especially with a heavy footed drummer.

    @charlesdeal771 Před 2 lety

    That's a really cool room. Glad to see you have a sponsor in this vid. (probably the only time I've said that.)
    As far as the acoustic foam goes, I'd say random patterns are best, but I'm sure yours is fine the way it is.

    Ok nice. The meter really helped.
    I will build a new house next year, and I have a mancave/studio room for playing guitar, and also jam with a drummer and bassist. I think I have the walls covered, but my weakest point still is the door. In my initial draw, I had 2 door system (with a mi i hallway like a cinema), but I had to remove it as it took too much space of other rooms…. I don’t want to disturb my wife while we are jamming. Also when I’m inside the room, I don’t want to be disturbed by outside noises when she has friends over.

  • @richardlewis1243
    @richardlewis1243 Před 2 lety

    There is actual rubber sheeting made to go up between studs and drywall to isolate sound in more higher priced condos I’ve worked on. However I did work on an actual studio that did mostly commercials and other advertising and that was a lot of double walls and speciality caulking with baffling built into the construction of the rooms themselves. It was also a major pain in the ass because none of the building materials fit in the elevator and it was on the 4th and 5th floor

    • @landonbailey
