This is actually one of the few performances in the Eurovision song contest history, what just turns to much better after the age, just like a good red wine.
Love it, one of my favourites :D I wish there were more songs like this in Eurovision. We need more diversity than usual pop, ballad, schlager, dance songs.
Eurovision should be blessed having Jarkko Ahola, and i am happy he was in Serbia 🇷🇸🇫🇮❤️ I want to live in Finland one day, last country in the world with good music
Jarkko Ahola is probably one of the best singer of the world :) he sings fantastic not only in metal songs but also in opera or acoustic.. Phenomenal voice, superb tenor. Love!
One of the best metal band in Finland !!! They should have won in 2 008 !!!! Jarkko's voice is totaly amazing !! I'm one of the greatest french fan !!! Christian from France
1:30 Jarkko Ahola is one of the best vocalists in Finland and rightfully so has a successful career inside Finland. Just wondering what they would've been with English lyrics and ambition to go around the world
This was my favorite of that year... I was 18 back then. I am in my 30's now and I realize the singer is not only a heavy metal God, but also absolute eye candy. 🔥🤘😍 Love from Bosnia ❤
For me, this is a gem that I'm appreciating much more today, than I did in the past. I think the reason it didn't do so well is because the audience was kinda tired of the genre during that era. I mean they did send 3 metal songs in a row (2006-2008). I feel this entry would have felt much more fresh among the audience today.
Finland *does* have the most metal bands per million of population than anywhere else in Europe ... that might explain their tendency towards that genre at Eurovision.
Teräsbetoni was considered a bit of a novelty band among all the big and super serious Finnish metal bands. And also heavy metal was kind of a thing in Eurovision for a couple years after Lordi so i think some got a bit bored of it. I mean this song and band is great and now I appreciate this a lot more than then, but i guess some thought that we could have sent something better too. Anyway this is one of the best entrys ever from Finland imo. Also I think our metalheads are not so much into power metal as other metal genres.
These dudes were the best this contest has ever seen. There were also a few bands that were good and Lordi is not included in this number. Because you can't compare a circus troupe with a real heavy metal band. Otherwise, this competition is so-so. Even Johnny Logan was pretty bad in 1987, and he has one of the best songs this show has seen. But who cares about quality, isn't it? 🙂
In 2021 Finnish goes back to Metal! \../ Blind Channel FTW and theyr song is Great Af but for some reason, normally Eurovision winner song is some lame af love r pop song who all sounds kinda same ffs and that rly sucks, cos Heavy Metal bands in EV gives us rly skilled bands and truly energized show etc etc..Finland&Blind Channel in 2021 Eurovision FTW! \../ !!🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
Utterly underrated band & song. One of the finest songs Eurovision had seen for decades. Better than Lordi but they didn't find what they expected... Shame really.
This was real and serious metal, not some kind of cosplay performance. Regular audience of ESC could not understand it's quality without superficial stuff...
@@yanavalladares How dare you disrespect Lordi like that! They had one of the most loved performances in Eurovision history and also it was the second most voted song in Eurovision history so people clearly like the song. And the costumes just add to tge experience. They were unique and just something that no one had seen in Eurovision before.
I have the luxury to play in a band with this drummer. It's a weird childhood dream come true almost, as most of my teenage years I was listening to Teräsbetoni, only to find myself playing with one of the best drummers in the country.
One of my favorites that year! Finland completed their trilogy of Hard Rock songs at ESC, I was a metal lover at the same time so ofc I loved this and was sad they placed only 22nd, Terasbetoni did say after the final they weren't disappointed and Eurovision was a once in a lifetime experience, good for them on taking the risk and enjoying the fun and spirit of the contest! Wonder where they are now?
I narrowly lost the ticket reserved for the big night and overslept both semifinals which I DID have tickets for, but my friend then snatched a ticket for the last general rehearsal and this band was QUITE something. Probably the best out of all finalists, next to Sirusho of Armenia (she should have won). And all these screams even were better in the morning than in the evening, what a pity.
Dear Finland, please never stop sending rock and metal songs. Sincerely, your random european friend.
We heard that :)
*Friends 😂😂😂
Haha! No
I agree! 🤘🏻
@@Heikki_Finland Finland rocks!
A left handed bassist singing a metal song in eurovision in finnish. They had my vote.
if you look closely you can see that those strings are upside down, like in right handed bass ;) jarkko ahola also plays right-handed guitar :D
@@Kauppamopo he just a genius
Yeah, this song was FAR too manly to do it.

HIS VOICE IS UNBELIEVBLE
Yeah, it truly is!!
Few years later but check out Jarkko Ahola - Walking in the air
i want this finland back
2021 edit: and they are BACK
Or maybe Sweden should put a metal act like Iceland last year, and Finland in 2006 and 2008. Maybe they could get in the top 10 or even win Rotterdam!
@@silvergir89 This year finland has one of the shittiest shows of all time. The song is kind of nice, but no show whatsoever
same do I
@@silvergir89 sadly the majority here in Sweden rather send bands that sound like 1000 thing you have allready hear before.
Yes! So much better than their bad entries from 2018, 19 and 20....we need Finnish rock music again
so brutally underrated :(
Exactly!
I agree! They are incredible and should have won the 2006 Eurovision INSTEAD of Lordi, because the Fins are MUCH better than Lordi!
True. Its better than lordi. Greetings from Turkey 🇹🇷

I agree, just like a fine red wine, still on my playlist, which I love to listen to now and then.
One of the best's!
What a masculine energy...WOW
Chuck norris listened to this song, and he became manlier.
Ahola one of the best singers in ESC ever.
maybe the best singer ever in eurovision contest
Of course 💖
Eurovision should be glad that they got Jarkko Ahola
He can slay every genre
Fun fact: the curly haired drummer at the top right is now the drummer in Lordi (winner 2006)
Sooo underrated, need more rock in Eurovision!
i agree !! 👍👍
His voice is really great! Amazing control.
Underrated, it deserved at least top 10.
Top 3 for me

Back when Finland would send rock songs every goddamn year lmao
Yeah, 2010-2013 were definitely rock :P

Love it, one of my favourites :D I wish there were more songs like this in Eurovision. We need more diversity than usual pop, ballad, schlager, dance songs.
evija87 We need songs not in english 😢
I need more harsh noise music in ESC.
Every should make in their own language
I agree! More musical diversity please. More rock, metal, indie, country, etno whatever....less schlagers, powerballads and mainstream pop
Finland sending a heavy metal band singing in Finnish is the most Finnish thing Finland has ever sent to the Eurovision Song Contest.
FINLAND rules the Eurovision song contest, no matter if they pick a heavy metal song, a disco song or schlager, or folk music! Greetings from Sweden
Agree one of my favourite countries in Eurovision
I think the Scandinavian countries rule the Eurovision.
