    Sadly Apollo no longer make the Evolution range, once they used up the Fleetwood (original makers of these vans) components after purchase of the Coromal brand in 2018. So you won’t see many on the road, we have changed a bit in our 612RTV. purchased from Apollo just pre Covid. Now run 400 of lithium, removed the drawers kept the fronts changed the blinds to Aussie Traveller. Replaced the problematic Camec HW system with a Swift storage HW. Hated the Alko hitch now run a D035 and added extra solar panel after the glued Flexi panel failed for reasons discussed.Just added a third sirocco fan and installed a diesel heater under the dinette seating.

      Yes, such a shame. Although we've heard that they'll be taking back manufacturing ownership soon, so hopefully reverting back to offroad vans with a bit more functionality / capability than the current ones...
      Aussie Traveller blinds... They're an absolute must! Next van build for sure.
      How are you finding the Swift HC? We'd probably look at getting a different one to the Camec if we custom built.
      Your van sounds great, very customised to your needs no doubt 🤙 thanks for sharing your modifications.

    Your spoiler is to disrupt the air flow behind the van and reduce drag may assist in fuel economy and would also explain the reduced dust/dirt on the back. Great review. Nice looking setup.

    Great review guys! You should get huge cred. from Corimal Caravans for this very positive, but realistic review. Having had a few great meals and drinks🍻 in your van in WA, SA and Qld I can only give it a 👍as well. You see so many variations of caravans on the road but in the end it comes down to what works for your situation. Clearly your 'first van love is Corimal.' Go well in the next phase of adventure. Yeah, we'd love more solar and battery capacity and for our next travel rig we'll be piling on both to make sure we can live comfortably even when we're not following the sun. Take care!

    Great to see this! We have been on the road 2 1/2 years in our Coromal Pioneer Evolution XC 612. Just did 3 months up Cape York, also drove right up the middle of WA. Did the Mereenie Loop and the Plenty Highway from Alice into Boulia. We love the van and it has done us proud as has Lee and the team at Apollo. New suspension is great. We are about to do a major solar energy upgrade to sustain us for the next 20yrs! We have an outdoor kitchen, one spare tyre, lithium batteries and composite gas containers. We have a full oven, definitely use the washing machine and the shower and have a different internal lay out than you guys. We have two sirocco fans and no under bed drawers, we use the outdoor 12v plugs for outdoor fans clipped to the underside of the table and for recharging phones We are retired so don’t need to work. We also travel with our dog. Keep living your best life. ❤

    • @IfNotNow
      @IfNotNow  Před rokem +2

      Hey Christine,
      Ah you have taught us something! I just googled composite gas containers as I wasn't aware of these for caravans. They're great - not only the weight but the transparency to see fill levels is awesome, even though we have a spare I managed to run out on Teewah Beach, plus it would help know for certain that they're being refilled to the top. Thanks!
      We haven't ventured to the Cape yet, how did the van go? Did you leave it in Cooktown or take it further?
      I'm also curious about your solar upgrade as we are considering a fully custom build next and a solid solar setup would be a big priority for us.
      Happy & safe travels on the road! Perhaps we'll see you out there one day. 🤙🤙 Soph x

      Our solar upgrade is: Viltron Solar Smart MPPT controller, Viltron BMV Battery Monitor, Shervey Life 280 ah Lithium Battery (5 year warranty), Viltron Multiplus 12/3000 DC - AC inverter, Viltron Digital Multi Control 200/200 amp, Viltron Orion - Tr Smart DC -DC charger (car to caravan), 4 x 200w Premium Solar Panels. We're a couple who have ordered a smaller off-road Van being the 17.10 JB Gator X as we tour 6-9 months a year, so don't need a larger Van. We had a smaller 13ft Hybrid before this which was good, but needed something a bit bigger & able to live fully inside & get out of the weather. Good luck with your next purchase & I think whatever peoples set up is they just make it work & its all about just getting on the road; safe travels - cheers

    Great review. We have same but with bunks. I the suspension may of been recalled because of us. The rod end bolts failed, I raised the issue with Apollo, they went straight to their engineers for support. We are very happy with our van and it’s ability to handle some very rough tracks.

    • @IfNotNow
      @IfNotNow  Před rokem +1

      Oh cool, so is it the exact same size? What’s the layout like with bunks? Ah how interesting, how did you realise that they’d failed?

    • @Crackymate
      @Crackymate Před rokem +2

      We did the Gibb river road and I checked over van every 50 to 100km along the way for failing components, they come loose then and failed on the way home. Apart from the M12 12.9 grade bolts failing, the van had no other issues from rough roads. Personally, M16 bolts should of been used. All the things that has happened to your van are the same things as us 😜. To fix the hot water system I fitted a inline pressure accumulator and removed the hot water safety valve ( little naughty but these two changes stopped the cold water shot between spongie showers. Plus if you forget to turn pump on there is enough water under pressure to flush toilet.
      Now window. Love the glass but we have had a bunk window pop, shit times🙈 Apollo replace luckily. Not sure if it was rock or defective glass, but taking no chances, I installed pinch weld around the edges to prevent future breaks. For your own van I recommend you check the glass edges for small chips to see if worth doing the same to yours.
      Our Van layout (PEX636) won’t please everyone but we wanted space and bench top over a separate shower toilet Note. Wife not a fan of having a combo 🤣
      So lounge / fridge to front is exactly the same as yours. Breakfast bar behind lounge and door. Combo next to fridge and x3 bunks E/W along the back. Suitable for out eldest 17 year old.
      You mentioned not having enough 12v power in yours. That was the first thing I changed (enerdrive). Pulled under bed draws out for better storage.
      Note. For all player, not all lithium batteries are equal. Check the maximum discharge amps because if you plan to run a inverter, boiling the kettle 2400watt will pull excess of 200amp load from the battery. This in some cases will trip the battery management system. Old saying “ poor man, page twice” so do your homework mate.
      Also a slide out Webber Q will fit in tunnel boot if your willing to cut the legs off, it is a bit of a conversion starter when people see it 😉.
      In general we have found out van to be a bit of a head turner for some reason, it just look different from the rest.

    • @IfNotNow
      @IfNotNow  Před rokem

      Ahhhh good tips RE the water pump. Does yours ever whistle? Sometimes we have to turn it off for it to stop. Not sure what it's all about, will make sure Coromal sort it before we sell the van.
      Oh wow that would have been a nightmare, we'll definitely check over the windows, another good tip 👍
      Yeah we agree we'd lose the bed drawers and increase the battery storage under the be. I've also seen them located in external trunks which is interesting so then you have a tonne of under bed storage. I suppose it's much of a muchness just changes access points.
      And thanks for the tips on lithium. We need to work out next whether we change the van or upgrade. We both really want to do something a lot different but know we'll be paying A LOT more than we paid for this one... decisions.

Apollo has denied any responsibility for my van. I have contacted Fleetwood and received an underwhelming response. When this happened to us, Apollo actually called us, letting us know about the issue and strongly suggested that we not move the van until they could pick it up and change the suspension. I believe the failure rate is relatively low but not worth the risk if you live on the road.

    You mentioned you have a Ranger? We are looking at a vehicle for our indefinite lap:) looking at the Next Gen Ranger Wildtrack or Nissan Y62 ? What are your thoughts on Ranger with payloads etc?

      Hey, we have been pleasantly surprised with our ranger but are also considering upgrading to the next-gen ranger. 3.5 tone payload is perfect for us, and with the new ranger having a V6 in it, I would hope that its even better for towing. That being said, it does depend on how big you are planning to go with your van. The current ranger has worked well for us, and the only time it has struggled was on 40+ degree days when we were on long drives +6 hours. We found the engine would start to lose a bit of power which might be an oil cooler issue. Once we stopped and let it cool down it would be okay again.

      Haha ok, I guess we all like different things. If you skip the intro then that song will be over and you won’t have to listen to it. 🤔 That being said your feedback is noted for our future song choices, However I can’t make any promises our taste in music will align 😂

    I tried watching this, and wasbreally interested in the content, but the totally stupid choice of rap music and its volume drove me away, ignorant influencer marketing.
