    So when you buy a new caravan you need to purchase the hoses and leads? Is that like buying a car without the steering wheel? Also I have a Colorado and it tows my Goldstream extremely well. Very underrated ute, in my opion. And finally I've not long found your website and an enjoyinf your episodes. Ps I grew up in Redcliffe, was a fantastic place to be a kid!

      Unfortunately mate some (most) caravan manufacturers these days sell them off as starter packs. It doesn’t seem to how much money you spend, they always want a little more. Go the mighty Colorados we love ours

    We always have hand sanitiser on hand but my husband uses the surgical gloves when he changes the toilet and then just throws them into the rubbish bin. If no bin at the site of the dump point, he just puts them somewhere until we come to a bin.

    Good video. Suggest a must-have safety item is a GME PLB. Understand you have starlink etc but it might not work in some emergency situations such as collision or vehicle fire. They are relatively cheap and they last for 10 years.

    Wow information overload!
    That was great and in depth.
    -:- First off, You should be sponsored, at least by BCF with the amount of free advertising your giving them also ARB 🤣. -:-
    I have so many questions....... like,
    Why did you give up camping and buy a caravan?
    Did you own the car before the van as the car looks like it is set up for camping?
    How did you find out all the information as to how the caravan should be set up?
    Same again for the Colorado as that would take some research, no?
    I can go on and on so i will stop now lol.
    Great video as usual guys!

    • @trip42australia
      @trip42australia  Před 6 měsíci

      Thank you, yes your right we brought the car before the van and yes the car was originally set up for camping but during the pandemic we decided to travel Australia, initially we thought a camper trailer would be good but we soon realised that living full time on the road we’d need a bit more comfort so we brought the van. We’ve never caravaned before so we done a lot of research, took driving lessons and visited heaps of camping and caravan shows. The Colorado was a work in progress for about 18 months but eventually I think we got a good balance.

    Hi guys great episode, I do have one question, we have a similar setup as you both in regard to the draw system, how does your fridge run on hot days? we have a 40lt engle fridge and find it does struggle keeping temp sometimes ( we are running it as a fridge not a freezer) we have a 120ah battery, DCDC Charger etc. cheers Les & Denise

    • @trip42australia
      @trip42australia  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Thank you, ours also struggles on hot days, I’ve set both compartments to minus 1 at the moment and it normally hovers around 2-3 degrees in the middle of the day. I try and keep it reasonably full that seems to help. I read somewhere that the fridge doesn’t need to work as hard to maintain it’s temperature and lately I’ve been opening the canopy windows when we’re parked up. That seems to help.

      Sorry mate, I got the info slightly wrong it’s a 10000lb Bushranger Revo winch that’s about 4500kg. I remembered when I was buying it thinking about running the cable through a block which increases the winches pulling power to between 8-9000kgs. I’ll make mention of it in next weeks video to prevent any confusion.🤓

Kerb weight before around same as your Colorado as well. We are at 2818 with full tank fuel, me and wife but nothing in back. I last weighed it (about 2 months ago) at the dump before heading towards Darwin and it weighed in a little heavier at 2910 but we were fully packed for travelling off grid, the weigh bridge operator said the scale was good for about 20kg either way. Hope this helps
