This is why if I ever have kids, I’m finding out the sex the old-fashioned way: When it pops out. Before then, people are *way* too weird about my hypothetical kid’s genitals and what gifts they should get based off of said genitals. Like, “oh no! I can’t buy a tutu until I know it’s a girl!” ??? Then get a toy or something useful? “But should it be pink or blue?!?!” I don’t know, green? Orange? Black? God forbid I put a pink onesie on my infant son. That would just ruin him /s. In my opinion (and also based on my religious thoughts), If one cannot do those things, it’s best they put the kid for adoption or not have kids at all.

It’s a satirical joke regarding sexual reproduction, my guy. Sperm is what decides the sex of the baby. Saying its “their fault” for the baby being a girl, is saying “your sperm decided the sex, dont know what to tell you” in an exaggeration way.
Other way to word this is: Men gives women’s bodies the blueprints to create those sex organs, they just don’t know what the blueprints look like. So while it isn’t inherently their fault, they still are the reason the child is going to be born a girl. Again, saying its “his fault” is an exaggeration displaying the irony of him being upset with having a daughter. Personally I don't like the concept of gender reveals as a whole (making a huge deal over genitals sounds kinda useless to me), but getting genuinely upset over what sex your child is sounds a wee bit fucked up, wouldn't you say?
Don't have children, if you're not going to accept who your children are. (That applies to almost everything, sex, gender, sexuality, disability, etc). If you chose to take the baby to term and birth them, you "signed up" for whatever and whoever that child will become. Okay rant over

Gender reveals in general are getting grossly out of hand.
I appreciate when people quietly let others in on their joy instead of making an obnoxious, narcissistic display and an excuse for the couple to have another party and day dedicated to them.
Starting to think that having a day long party revolving around themselves is the only reason people get married or procreate any more.
After the one gender reveal that burnt a whole town down, I started shunning invitations from friends and family when they had their own gender reveals.
Told them all that cueing me in through text would suffice.
Also, for the people defending gender disappointment, yes, dad's can do things with their daughters that they could do with their sons.
I had an adopted father figure who taught me about changing tires, oil, balance a check book, how to drive, fish, camp, hunt, let me play in the dirt, etc. All things that a dad would normally do with their son.
My uncles were all the same way.
Where a lot of men saw disappointment, the men who helped raise me saw an opportunity to help me be more prepared to navigate everyday life in this world.

(Mainly because of sexists, those hook up people who probably live in alleyways, periods, etc.) Either way he did a good job, supportive and was always calm and forgiving but of course had his limits.

for all of you saying it's normal to feel disappointed by your children's gender and that there are things dads cant do with their daughters as they would with their sons, this is just bullshit. My father may not be the best father on earth, but during my childhood he was amazing. He would play with me everytime, play football, videogames, we would play with his car toys collection. He would cheer me up on any sport i picked up, judo, volleyball, even if it was ballet (which he also loved my presentations). One of the traits he most liked and still likes to this day about me is my competitiveness, he thinks its a strong personality trait and that its fun I hate losing. What's a bit concerning to me is how that one guy who swore over having a daughter probably would have responded if his wife had a son and that kid didn't match up to his expectation of what maleness should be. What if he had a son who liked dolls or dresses, or who ended up being trans. I get hoping for a specific sex, especially since he already had two daughters, but still, it's a pretty strong reaction. Gender reveals aren't always bad, some of them are quite sweet but the best one I've heard of is from my coworker, but it wasn't even for a baby.
Her son came out as trans when he was about 13, and was really nervous about telling family and friends. So my coworker had the idea of doing a meetup with family and close friends to tell them all at once. They ended up making it a gender reveal announcement for him, having all the (non flammable) classics, the colored cake, the balloons, a pinata, even party poppers.
It helped him with his nerves and fueled his confidence lots. And they both love telling the story of it.

I feel like it's so weird to judge people based off of genitals, that's not something you can choose. Plus some people like my mom say there is a difference between boys and girls growing up (other than puberty) but honestly, a lot of that is probably from the gender roled forced on them from birth so they basically have not say. I don’t think this is bias! I completely agree! Like you said, things like hormones and sometimes physical changes (I say sometimes because of intersex peeps), but other than that, I don’t think there’s a lot! The color thing is pretty odd, as color is color, the Barbie dolls vs monster trucks is also odd, as both genders would play with those toys if there parents bought them. The sports thing is also odd, because there are girls who love sports, and boys who hate them. The diffrence is the way your child is raised, before your child knows gender sterio types (and hits puberty), there is really nothing different exept for physically (sometimes agian). I think everyone should just let there child chose what they like! What they want to play with, dress in, etc. I also sadly may be a tiny bit biased because I am lesbian, so that last part about letting your kid choose came from the tiny childhood me who loved dinosaurs, monster trucks, etc. but I’m pretty sure the first part still stands!
