Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

"I don't think Jimmy ever intended to become a cartel lawyer. It's not the suit that fits him."
She was right.
Judge Papadoumian wouldn't have though so. Saul is a snappy dresser.
She was right and she was wrong. Jimmy never intended to become a cartel lawyer; but it is very much the suit that fits him.
@@Shorty15c4007I was really hoping we’d get a scene with her.
@@asafindy I think it’s more that he grew into it
Such a great scene. Giving Kim and Saul the choice to turn good instead of continuing to be “bad” in the eyes of the law
What's even better about it is that if she had actually talked to Jimmy instead of Kim here, Jimmy probably would've folded and confessed.
@@lga4187 and something as simple as that would have stopped the timeline. Lalo wouldn't have his decoy, Jimmy and Kim would have had police protection (protection far better than what Mike offered (and failed when it really mattered)) Jimmy and Kim wouldn't have been involved in whatever Lalo would have done to Gus and Mike, Saul Goodman's practice wouldn't have been as popular with the lawless as Kim was the rock holding his recklessness down (and no divorce), Howard would still be alive, and Walt would have been caught, dead or probably bailed out of the drug game with far less money (probably at the 737k he wanted), and Jimmy and Kim would still be happily together.
@@darthraider450 unfortunately for the both of them, once you enter the game you never come back. Lalo still would’ve found a way to use Jimmy and Kim in his plot to take down Gus, and he probably would’ve killed one of them after finding out they ratted. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re out of the game, to those in the cartel if you deal with them once you are now linked to them forever whether you like it or not
@@santinov1236 I don’t think it’s impossible to get out of the game considering Jesse, badger and skinny Pete in el camino but I do agree you can get pulled back into the game like Mike was in the five o flashback
@@santinov1236 you watch too much movies
Susan was figuring out the Salamanca chain quite nicely. She linked Nacho to Tuco to Lalo. This would've been good info to give to Hank and Steve in the DEA.

“…Saul” oh man did that part grab me. I love how they use subtle moments like that for Kim’s character to show her support and love for Jimmy despite him clearly being in the wrong.
The subtle change in Kim's face as she is told Lalo was killed was superb acting.
dont forget when Finger told her Lalo's still alive. not after he left, but right when she took notes of Mike's silence.

“It’s not the suit that fits him”
Love that line
It's exactly the suit that fits him! But he wears it proudly after a while
I love that the picture they identify Lalo with looks like a random family photo he took with his grandmas.😂
Seems like such a nice guy right? lol
One of the best lines was Susan saying Jimmy was a lawyer. We, as the audience, knew how hard he fought to get there, and just hearing it from that level of conviction from a colleague who genuinely cared for his lawful well-being? That was a home run piece of writing for me.
This is a great observation. I think if she had told him this early on, like episode one when he was struggling as a public defender, that she could have been the mentor he needed. Sure, he wanted his brother to be his mentor but his brother wasn’t the mentor he needed.
@@E2theBizzle thanks! Agreed. Yea, Jimmy needed the support like anyone going through tough times.
Kim is rock solid in this scene ⛰️ Love her composure in pretending she has no knowledge of Lalo.

I've learned to live with it. I know that it is highly unlikely that I would ever find a TV series as good or even half as good as this or Breaking Bad, they are in a league all on their own above the other challengers which languish in the lower leagues, and instead I like to think of this show as part of my happy memory bank where it deserves to belong. My YT feed is packed with BCS and BB videos and I'm happy with that.
Me too. I got into the BB universe during the pandemic, and the few months leading up to the final season it was all I was interested in.
This season was full of good little moments like this. Bravo Peter
Perfect Peter!
Pravo Beter
"what, are you building some kind of case against Jimmy?" "No, no one is...at the moment" FORESHADOWING
In the season trailer, I thought she was telling Howard
I mean it was clear that if he did in fact became a willing participant of the Cartel business, they would start to investigate him.
@@omegajrz1269 and that's because in the trailer, that is followed by howard saying "i'm just getting warmed up" when it turned out he was telling that to his therapist
the trailers and episode teasers were so misleading. it's like hideo kojima made them
3:32 I thought she was going to say 'Underneath all of his chicanery'
I love this touch of empathy from Suzanne. She gives Jimmy the benefit of the doubt and still respects him as a lawyer.
She doesn't respect him. She's simply speaking softly about him to not upset Kim.
This is the moment Lalo became Slippin' Salamanca
You mean Saul-amanca?😁
Slippin' Eddy
Jumpin' de Guzman
3:08 It's subtle, but Kim is changing the subject here by acting indignant about the prosecutor calling him Jimmy and not Saul, when earlier in the conversation Kim herself had called him Jimmy.
Just imagine how much could have been avoided if people had came to Jimmy instead of Kim
Dude, for real Mike telling Kim instead of Jimmy that Lalo is still alive was foolish on his part like I get he saw Kim talking Lalo down is what made him think she was the right person to give the information too.
But come on, Mike, I think you owe Jimmy that information too since he had his back on multiple occasions, and Jimmy wisely would have been on high alert and kept Kim and himself hidden leaving Lalo without any options.
Kim was always too preoccupied with her stellar professionalism to see Jimmy's capacity for angling things in a more savvy lawyer approach. Kim knew how to do things right, but Jimmy knew how to get results.
2:55 I love the shot choice and framing used here. You can see Kim's uncomfortable breathing quicken in real time.
This was the moment Jimmy became recognized as a human being.
This cold rejection by Kim to Erickson's offer is another example of how she wouldn't let anything come between her lust for destroying Howard for his handling of the Sandpiper case.
If Jimmy somehow straightened out,he wouldn't have helped her concoct the perfect set up against Howard.
You saw where that went.
Like Jimmy, she found out too late what would happen.
Yeah. Look at how uncaring she was when DA Erickson told her Lalo murdered a 20 yr old innocent worker in cold blood.
The pro bono champion of underdog Kim should have been torn up about that. Instead the most offensive thing ‘Break Bad’ heard was the DA referred to Saul as ‘Jimmy’! Wow!
@@tracyb64this seems like an unfair characterization of Kim. As far as she knows, Lalo is dead. So even though he killed an innocent man it doesn’t really matter because Lalo is dead anyway. The “monster in custody” is dead, so why should Kim be torn up about it?

"The whole system failed". So your redemption arc is to force someone to rat out the CARTEL or you will build a case against him, not even care why he was involved in the first place?
I wish Kim and Nacho would've had a scene.
They probably shouldve in season 1 when nacho was accused of kidnapping kettlemans.

I know that sucks, at least Kim and Jesse had a scene together. Doesn't mean i like it, but still.
The closest they were together in a scene was when Nacho was arrested and in the interrogation room, while Kim was outside the room.
This would’ve been a good choice road

In the end he knew.
If Lalo came against Walter he would have seen Walter thru him
Dont suit jimmy, suit Saul Goodman
3:16 I don’t think Eriksen is use to addressing Jimmy as Saul Goodman since she already knew that he practices under different name.
So wait…DA Ericsson didn’t know Kim visited “De Guzman” in jail? How did that slip by?
As any lawyer does with their client? Yes, she knew I'm sure but how is that relevant
