    Having your own electricity (with solar panel) makes a huge difference! I would've loved that!
    I'm surprised your "stove" is not one of those "hot plates" (burners) that you can just plug in...instead of needing fluid.
    Anyway..by circumstances, I had to move into my car...thought it was going to be very temporary (2-3 weeks, maybe a month) and ended up being SIX YEARS!!
    Huge difference though, was to be able to get a Gym membership! It meant having acces to shower any time because the Gym was (is) open 24HRs!

    I love the simplicity and low cost of your set-up. Great tips. I'm moving back into my van in a few weeks after 2 years in a house where I just couldn't settle. I'm going to be saving quite a bit of money too. Joe. UK.

    Great video. You provided as much information in 11 minutes as some CZcamsrs do over a series of hour-long videos. Your setup is both neat and practical. You clearly have fine-tuned everything to its bare minimum. Great work!

      Glad you enjoyed it! I try to keep it real and informative for real people. if you find yourself in a situation where you need to know this in a hurry its not ideal to have to watch yt for hours and hours! thanks for taking the time to comment :)

    This is a great down to earth video abt car living or camping. Practical no bullshit advice. I think that wagons/small panel vans are the most useful. That added room and comfort as well as blending in to avoid attracting attention when stopping. I think that I would adopt similar ventilation solution as yours, i would measure out the whole window to make 2 frames that would enclosed a measured and cut fine mesh. One that i would slide in from the outside. Maybe. Thanks. Take care and be safe always

    In the USA, truck plazas like Flying J or Petro, several others, on interstates (cross-country highways maintained by the national/USA government) work great for me. We actually take family vacations sleeping at truck plazas at night because they have 24-hour toilets, restaurants, quick marts for snacks and "fast food," and pay showers--truck drivers are highly paid workers and like to be clean. So we don't pay for motels and everything is close by.
    As long as you park in the overnighter area (usually where people are parking their RVs), don't stay past two or three nights and don't set up a campsite with chairs and a grill (haha 🤣🤣), no one will bother you.

    • @hobocyclist
      @hobocyclist  Před 3 lety

      i like that idea! when i was in usa i stayed at national park campsites i liked how there is campfire & grills set up at most of the camping spots.

      Oooooh. I never use national parks, or state parks, either. They are EXPENSIVE. Americans used to access national parks completely for free...money grubbing government. 😠

      You can still find old, perfect condition "granny cars" that are station wagons. Best bet is to search rural and not urban and have a great mechanic friend for simple repairs to get you in top shape. I'm in Ohio.

      Thanks Mastermind. I was in a semi accident recently and had to buy something. Was a 4 door sedan(43k). In my area about the cheapest you can buy is $8k-9k. It doesn't matter the mileage or age. 1 lot offers cars cheaper but they're all Ford Focuses, Honda Fits, subcompact. My Focus was rear-ended by a semi. Never had problems. When I can buy something I will look 2 other areas. I'm in NC & its very pricey here.

    what kind of food did you eat while living in your car

    • @hobocyclist
      @hobocyclist  Před rokem

      Noodles, eggs, cabbage, salami, sandwiches were my go to. I would always cook my own food using a small gas burner and pan. Also I would prepare & cook meals at work, and store food in the fridge & freezer at work. I’d buy baked beans 24 cans at a time & store them at work for my breakfasts. Preparing your own food is the best way to save money. Good luck
