    Favorite parts of the movie… Chani forced to fulfill the prophecy for which she was named by reviving Paul with her water mixed with the water of life. Stilgar’s often times comedic declarations of prophecy being realized.: so real and so dangerous at the same time.

      That was one of my least favorite parts, Jessica was far too forceful and used the voice way too often.

    Love the discussion. I just watched the movie and my brain is not computing yet. I've read all 6 books (I didn't finish Chapterhouse) and have been obsessed with Dune Part 1 and the run-up to Dune Part 2. My expectations were off the chart. They were met, and something else happened, but I'm not quite sure. I'm sure I'll obsess about this movie until Dune Messiah comes out. Keep up the great work guys!

    One of my favorite scenes was Paul and Chani doing the desert walk together. It was like they were dancing! 🙂

    I see parallels watching Paul denying being the messiah with Brian, who's been a very naughty boy.

    I thought it was increasingly hilarious how every scene with Irulan, she became increasingly covered in metal and chains. What was up with that. 😂

    Just saw the movie, never read the book. Someone’s gotta help me with this. I didn’t understand what switched in Paul between being desperately against the prophecy, and then after the water of life becoming 100% all about being the messiah. This was unclear to me and it left me a bit confused for the rest of the movie. I liked the rest of it, but I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on with Paul the whole time. It felt like he became an entirely different person. Was he putting on an act because it was the only way to victory? Because it isn’t feel like an act, it felt like he became heartless in an instant. Did he genuinely embrace the role and stop giving a shit? Someone help me out.

      To add on to this, from what I know about the books. Herbert write Dune: Messiah to show that Paul is not a heroic figure. And Denis DEFINITELY got that point across here. So I applaud that. I was legitimately uneasy when Paul embraced the role. I felt like I finally really understood what Chani was worried about the whole time. Paul was scary in the final battle.

      this is a bit of a departure from the books so a tad bit confusing for me as well, but i think the film's intention was to show how paul's newfound sight gained through the water of life cemented in him that he has to be this type of leader. he's seen the only "narrow way through" amongst many possible futures, and we assume that given what he knows about them, embracing this role is the only way to avoid something much worse. there could be something else i missed though! i just watched it and am over the moon!

      It switched when he survived the water of life ceremony. He was told that no man has survived it, that only the kwisatz haderach could. So when he did survive, he believed he was the one.

    • @sincerelypaige8764
      @sincerelypaige8764 Před 4 měsíci

      He gained ultimate power and control.. which was his worry the whole time- he knew it would change him. But there was that moment of desperation where He asked what to do as he touched the rock and it told him to drink the water of life and become the kwisatz haderach, so he did.

    • @sincerelypaige8764

      Which is funny because Stilgar told him demons whisper in the desert.

    How did paul get all the fremen to fight for him if some of them dont believe. I get what your saying but he still has to get the frmen to follow him but if some of them dont believe how does paul get the fremen to figur for him at the end. Just wondering how does the people who dont believe fight for him in the final act. Do they still believe enough to fight for him in the end?

    • @Jeff-tt7wj
      @Jeff-tt7wj Před 4 měsíci +1

      Id say it’s a mixture. I look at it as a mixture of pragmatism and religion. The northern fremen were in danger of being wiped out. It was life and death. They could unite with the southern religious tribes and stand a chance, or perish.

    • @friedux2065
      @friedux2065 Před 4 měsíci

      Because the Harkonnens were bombing all the northern sietches. Basically going scorched earth, they had no choice but to follow Paul who had command over the atomics.

    Gurney Halleck and Lady Jessica are not in Dune Messiah so what's Dennis Villeneuve gonna do ukno.

    • @610vegas
      @610vegas Před 4 měsíci

      Jessica will probably still go back to Calidan, I am expecting her personality to change massively once Alia exits her body. It felt like Alia was in charge in the movie. Jessica was quite different in the movie to the book but it all makes sense why she abandons Alia and moves back to Calidan and becomes more devoted to the bene gesserit because of her feelings about what happened and her part. I think the way they are doing it works pretty well. Gurney will just do what paul tells him to do which will be to protect his mother which gets him out of the way because paul doesn't want him around after the jihad.

    Anya Taylor-Joy is same age as Timothy is right now n she's playing a girl who's susposed to be 15 years younger. Even if part 3 is 18 years later she's playing an 18 year old n she's same age as main character Paul lol who's in his 30's.

    • @user-fx5cd4px3k
      @user-fx5cd4px3k Před 5 měsíci

      she can always be recast to be younger especially if they continue the next film right where part two left off

    • @adelseifeddine1758
      @adelseifeddine1758 Před 4 měsíci

      @@user-fx5cd4px3k I've never read the book of Dune: Messiah, but I know it takes place like 12 years after Paul's victory in Dune Part 2 (the Movie). So, they can just make this time jump a little big longer from 12 to 20 years or so. They always do that. And Anya does NOT even look her real age, just like Zendaya and Timothee don't either.

    • @Jeff-tt7wj
      @Jeff-tt7wj Před 4 měsíci

      Paul will undoubtedly be made to look older in Messiah. I fully expect him to have a beard and some graying hair.

    • @610vegas
      @610vegas Před 4 měsíci

      They will need to age up Paul make up and beards and I expect any Taylor joy to be aged down with a little help of CGI not to much cgi if we know denis. But you can not cast a kid and have a romantic scene with a 44 year old jason momoa. So pretty sure this is the casting hope they pull it off.

    • @friedux2065

  • @travisgray8376
    @travisgray8376 Před 5 měsíci +1

    Sounds like Dennis Villeneuve is changing the fremen culture making it more modern n less what they are in the books. Paul has nothing on changing fremen culture more than Dennis Villeneuve himself it seems lol.

    • @friedux2065
      @friedux2065 Před 4 měsíci +1

      It was somewhat necessary to reflect the tensions described in inner monologues in the book. To properly illustrate that what is happening is not positive but many shades of grey. Also of course not playing into the ignorant poor desert tribe trope was likely on Villeneuve's mind.
