Great video, James. What a lovely part of the world (wish I’d made more of it in my yoof when my folks lived just north of there). I wonder what made Newcastle so special for those barrels; or what other uses the folks of Middlesborough and Stockton had for its contents that meant they were unable to sustain the required supply.

Thanks Paul! Yep, a lovely area. The closest I'd really been before was a bunch of childhood holidays in Filey, but we never ventured past Scarborough.
And if you mean the barrels used for the Alum, I dread to think :)
