  • @alexandrenineoclockgoudrea7482

    I'd like to point out that the first spell Reality break isn't wasted if the target succed the initial saving throw, the wording specify that if they fail they lose their reaction, but not that the spell is wasted, so they will still roll on the table on a successful save

    • @baileys.milchick4442
      @baileys.milchick4442 Před rokem

      Id argue that the spell states affected creatures and technically the creature will not have been affected if they succeed.

    • @chillandgrilltillenddays69
      @chillandgrilltillenddays69 Před rokem

      I'd also argue that if you have to make a save on a spell you are affected by it or you wouldn't have to make a save like being immune to fire damage and a fire spell hitting you.

    • @jamiedorsey4167
      @jamiedorsey4167 Před rokem +3

      I've been in games that rule it both ways. The argument seems to hinge on whether the magic missiles striking at the same time counts as a single source of damage or since they are separate missiles they each count as a distinct source of damage.
      IMO multiple concentration checks is too OP and I personally would rule it only causes one concentration check.

    • @azuredragoon2054

      Maybe? The maximum damage is nice, but I think you still need to hit the attack to deal the full 60dmg to the target. For the wording I am not sure whether Overchannel would apply to all or just one target.
      You can try it, but I think a typical fireball would be a better option as you also damage the people that succeed the saving throw.

    I will forever be upset that Steel Wind Strike is a Spell Attack Roll just so they can put it on the Wizard (Bladesinger) spell list without making them need to actually invest in other ability scores. It's already arguably-worse Destructive Wave (6d10 force on a hit for 5 targets VS 10d6 thunder + radiant/necrotic on an AoE save-for-half and prone), and for the same slot it's basically a 30ft-radius Fireball with a different damage type centered on yourself. Wizards would only want it for flavor at most.

    I once made rather evil combo with Spiritual Weapon, playing fallen aasimar death cleric.
    As an action, I could activate Necrotic Shroud, then caste SW with bonus action. If I hit with the attack roll, I could use Touch of Death (since SW is a melee attack spell, despite its range) and Necrotic Shroud, dealing 5+3xlevel necrotic dmg on top of the force dmg.

    If you are playing a single class Bard in 5e, thunderwave is a good choice for a 1st level spell in a typical D&D combat adventure game. It gives your character a spell that will work against most monsters that are not effected by charm/enchantment spells.

    Hey slight comment here. Tensers Transformation sucks. It's a bad pick for every kind of wizard. The dexterity playstyle of a bladesinger makes elven accuracy, invisibility, and steel wind strike phenomenal. A contingency with greater invisibility and steel wind strike is def the way to go

      @@nicmalugin9287 it sucks for bladesingers too. You're losing the ability to cast spells for temp hp and a damage bonus that isn't worth it. Just use shadowblade. Spells are easily way stronger then putting yourself in a dangerous situation. Multiclassing is also reducing the slot levels you have access to so it's even worse for them as they are statistically going to be using a much more expensive spell slot for like no returns
