One suggestion: Don't change the thread color until the second side of the binding is sewn. That way, if the binding doesn't completely cover the stitching, it's less apparent. Great video. Thanks.
Another cute little bag........have to admit. I've been sewing for years and what was old is now new again! Amazing......
Very cute bag! I like watching you sew. You make it look so easy. You are a great teacher.
I like binding! This bag is so cute!!
as always, a great tutorial! Thank you, Kassiah
Such a cute little bag!!! I love it, came out great!!💜
Another great tutorial a joy to watch as always
This is exactly the kind of pattern I've been looking for, love the pattern and love tha bag!
Great job, it turned out amazing !
Wow Kassiah, you are on the row! Another great bag! Thank u, you are fantastic 👏 💐
I was scared doing binding until I watched one of your videos. Very helpful.
Thank you again Kassiah.
Thank you so much! I used your binding method for the Catalina crossbody and was able to finish the bag!
This is super cute!!!!
I loved the pattern.🥰
I already bought.😉
Thanks for your video😘🌷
Thank you for the video...I have mine cut out and ready to sew...I hope you turns out beautiful like yours!!
Oh, this is a cute little bag! It looks like it goes together very quickly, too. I do like a bound bag - it gives it such a nice look. Beautiful job once again. And thank you for scheduling the videos to release while you are on vacation! That way we don't miss your tutorials! 😁 And thank you for taking time with your binding. It really does look best that way. I hope you had a great vacation and were able to get some great fabric!
Thank you so much!!
Beautiful
Kassahi I love watching you sew and you are the most amazing bag maker ever!! I make sure I watch your videos. Your patterns choice of fabrics and hardwear is impeccable!! Every week I look forward to watching you... my specialty was making quilts, appliqué and embroidery!! Now it's little to none since my husband has passed and other physical issues and age just all the wear and tear I was kind of like you hardly ever stop cuz I loved it so much! Keep up the amazing work you do!! I look forward to more of your super fabulous videos!! 💯💕🐰🐰💕
Oh thank you so much, I’m sorry for your loss as well. I’m happy my videos bring you some joy!!
Nice Job, I noticed your using a walking foot machine, I started another crossbody back in Dec, of last year which I need to finish,I do like this crossbody bag as well. Thanks I watched you make the other crossbody bag , that I am working on and I watch stop it and try to make that step and then watch more then try to get that step done . I am going to have to fine that video to be able to finish that bag. You make it look so easy there with that walking foot machine .
Cute pattern, love your intro song🎵
Hi Kassiah, took your suggestions and just completed the Daythum sling bag. I also figured it had 2 curves instead of 4 like in the Blossom.(LOL) I used cork I had, switched to cotton canvas for the lining, and still used waterproof canvas for the binding. It came out so well, I'm so excited and pleased about it! I used 2 awls I had for traveling over the curves (the stilettos I'm sure are better. Love yours by the way. ) I think my takeaway is that thinner everything is better. I do have mora faux leather on hand so may try that, with thinner WPC in the future. Thank you for all you do with these videos for us. I will post a photo of my bag on your you tube channel
Thank you so much for sharing this video! You did an excellent job on the bag. I am going to attempt it in the coming days. Thank you so much for the step by step✨
You are so welcome!
Omg this is the first time I watched you ! Love the opening!
Thank you so much!! 😊
You are on a rolls with the tutorials!
Ohmygosh that intro!!!!! 😍🤣😁
encore une vidéo bravo
I'm just doing this one right now in faux leather on a domestic. I didn't want the pocket bag from the back zipper pocket in the seams so I sewed it almost the width of the zipper.
So Cute thanks you
Thank you for the great tutorial! I love your fabric choices. The bag is so cute! Did you end up keeping it? I finally got to make this bag. Love the size. I wondered if it was going to be too small and was bouncing between the Catalina by Oro Rosa and this one. Blossom is perfect! I did replace the front flap slip pocket with a quilted design.
My next bag. 😊 This is so cute❤️
And When you start sewing the flap you started talking about what you do when you do not se the sew plate below, but you did not finish talking? Wondered a bit what you do I do then😂
Ha ha I tend to get lost in my thinking sometimes….
Great tutorial!
I do have a question, if using cork, do I need to interfacing on it? I'll also be using cotton and vinyl
@@Brenda75150 I would treat the cork like vinyl...depending on the backing of the cork.
Just subscribed!! I love your video. What kind of machine are you using?
I love this bag, can you tell me what kind of iron you were using? I am looking for a new one.
It is an oliso, but is broken and I don’t love it. Need a new one myself 😂
I love my Oilso.
Where did you buy your stiletto you are using in this video? I love it.
Wonderfully helpful video. What machine are you using? I’m in the market for a more durable machine for my bags. Thanks
I sew on a Kingmax GC 0302 which is an off brand to the Juki 1181N
Hi Siag, I like to see your video. I'm very interested to learn more. May I know where you buy your matrials. So I can prepare to start sewing bags. I thank you very much.
All the links for the materials and information is in the description below all the videos I post 😊
When watching your videos I always see you reach over and press a small flat lever on your machine. What’s that lever for? I love this bag it’s so cute! I’m totally digging the 90’s vibe mtv logo!
It is my reverse and my stitch length knob
Hey Kassiah, when do you decide whether to use wpc as a lining as opposed to cotton? Is it based on the bag style, size or construction? Thank you! 💕
You can almost always use it if your machine can do the layers.
Attaching flap to exterior part. No 4, do you measure the 1/4 and 1/2 from the original line you drew? or from the bottom of the turned up flap?
Would waterproof canvas work as lining in this, and skip most of the decovil? Or too much?
Yes you could do that. I would only put the decovil light in the gusset and zipper panel if that was the case.
That bag looks great. I looked at the pattern on the Bag stock designs website, but decided to first watch a tutorial before deciding on buying the pattern. So far I like the binding method. I'm not sure yet if I will buy the pattern, since it can be fun to design my own bag pattern. I have a question though about your machine (it looks awesome, I worked in upholstery in the past for a while), what brand is your machine? I couldn't fully figure out the name since there is a magnet in front of it. Since how long do you own your machine? I'm sure it was a gamechanger for bag making, I loved watching Lauren's moremeknow video about the story of her machine.
I have had my machine over 2 years now and love it. It is a Kingmax GC 0302
Hi Siah how do you get your zipper heads on so the zipper is closed at both ends I always have one end open which I don’t like . Thank you for all your help and the lovely tutorials .
When you put it on, it closes the other end…. I’ve never had one end left open so I’m not sure I know what you are doing exactly?
I expect when you put a double zipper on it would work like you do it .. it when I come to putting a single zipper head on I have to open the far end because there’s a bubble in between they are not even .. so I was wondering how you do it … As I’m struggling… thank you so much for your last reply. X
Can I use foam for interfacing instead of decovil , as we don't get it in South africa.
Yes you definitely can!
I love this bag also. I am sorry for seeming negative but when it comes to the gussets I always have trouble with them. On this bag the lining of the gusset is to big and I am trying to fix it. Any suggestions?
Oh no! they should be the same size…. Can you just wiggle it in?
What is the brand of the erasable marker you are using on your vinyl?
Where do you get those awesome spoils of thread?!?!
My website 😊 SiahSwagBags.com
Will this bag work with cork? Would I need to interface it or would it have enough structure by itself??
I think it would
Work without any interfacing
My finished card slots measure 6 1/2 high. Any reason this would be like this?
Oh I don’t know… maybe your beginning piece was too big?
Hi, where did you get your pink vinyl? I'm having a hard time finding that soft pink color.
It was a roll from MyPunkBroidery
Hi Cassiah I just almost finished making this bag, I used glitter vinyl for the gusset, slip pocket was waterproof canvas. Outside fabric was linen. Unfortunately I used WPC for the binding also which wouldn't flip b/c of the thickness of everything (did use regular cotton for lining). The wrong thing I did was trim the 3/8" seam down to 1/8th to turn the binding which then led to a domino effect of mistakes I think . Then I used regular store bought binding. the seam was just too small at that point. Do you think the vinyl was too thick? I guess I'm looking for someone to agree with me (lol) I ended up throwing the bag out minus the hardware.(lol) Your video here was just so good, even the latest one from Country Cow Designs for the sling which would have been my next make with binding. I think I should have used the mora faux leather I had from Emmaline. this isn't the first time I've used binding. I just don't want to blame the binding.
Hello! Yes I think a couple things went wrong for you 😊❤️. You don’t trim the seams down when binding, you need them there to attatch it to. Sounds like your materials might have been a little too think and harder to work with. I know glitter vinyl usually is pretty tricky. Don’t give up on the binding! I think you need to try an all cotton bag first that would be easier to work with to practice your binding skills before tackling a bag with vinyl. Does this help?
@@SiahSwag Yes it does going to try that and I will let you know. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to respond!
Where is your mtv and pink vinyl from?
I think this one is from Twisted Ember
Is you bias binding 1 inch?
Yep!
Could a turn lock be used instead of a magnet?
Yes!!
Thanks. I didn’t know if there might be something I didn’t think about which would make it a bad idea!
I do not have the option to download the pattern and print it. Is there anyway that I can buy a hard copy to be mailed to me?
Go to your local library and use a computer there to both purchase and download and then print out, or get someone with computer capability and knowledge to do it for you.
You would have to contact the designers for a question like that…
What kind of duck tape are you using???
Just regular white duct tape
@@SiahSwag thank you.
Those curved corners are a nightmare to get around
Hi, since I don't get a reply to my email: would you consider shipping to Germany? I have this wonderful petrol vinyl but can't for the life of me find a matching thread here.
OH, and an outstanding tutorial, as always, Thank you so much for that!
Oh I’m so sorry, I’m behind on answering them. I can add it. I’m just not sure on the cost. Let’s try.
@@SiahSwag Thank you for being willing to try :-)
