    I've only seen one Super A-1 in my life and I've been a Farmall man for as long as I can remember. You can't beat a Farmall for row crop work. The Super A-1 had the C123 engine like the 100, 130 and 140. The Super A had the C113 engine.

      Hi Mark, bought the Super A from original owner back in mid 90’s. Had no clue that it was a Super A1 until a few years ago when I watched a video on you tube that showed what the differences were compared to a regular Super A. I realized that mine had some of those items and sure enough as I dug deeper into it everything they talked about matched up. As you said, the Farmall’s are great row crop tractors. A true piece of American farming history. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting.

    Very nice! I have a '56 100 w/4 pcs. of fast-hitch equip. & several other attachments & accessories. The 100 was also the first year of the deluxe high back seat that's on most all of the 140's! Purchased in '06 from Raymond Strum in Henderson, N.C. Still runs great and they were the best garden tractors ever made, imo. A - 140. Thanks for the video! From Sophia, N.C.

    Thanks for the video. I got bit by the "red bug" in February when I revived by 92 year old FIL's Super AV. I rigged an old Cole Duplex planter behind it and planted the garden. Since then I've bought a 53 Super A, a 100, and another Super AV. I need to check the 53 Super A it has the dipstick which surprised me. I hadn't noticed any of the other A1 attributes, but it might be a 54 instead of a 53. I'll be looking for the "Z's" on the block and clutch. New sub, been watching Jtwes to learn the tractors. Thanks again, Ken

      Hi Ken, I know what you mean about the "red bug". I think these tractors are a true part of American farming history. The "Z's" are also located on the front wheel rims, forgot to mention that in the video. Sounds like you have a awesome setup with the Cole planter. Seems like every farmer around these parts had some model of a Farmall back in the day. Thanks for checking out the video and subbing. Take care.

      @@backyardcountrylivin1514 Thanks for the reply Jeff. Yeah, I picked up an A-180 belly planter and an IH Duplex planter to go on the Super A and restored them. I also got a couple of fertilizer distributors. I'm going to set the Super A up for planting and the AV's for side dressing cultivating. They are awesome tractors. I remember my cousin having a cub when I was a kid and my uncle had a Super C. Love the sound of the old farmalls! Can't wait till fall gets here to plant a fall/winter garden here in lower Al.

    Super a uses thermo syphon for cooling..

    • @backyardcountrylivin1514
      @backyardcountrylivin1514  Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you for the info. I always thought I had a Super A until I had a water leak and realized it had a water pump. I never even knew there was such a thing as a Super A1 until I started looking around on line. That’s when I read about the A1 having a water pump and then I started to match up all the other differences. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @jamesolson9423
    @jamesolson9423 Před rokem

    Because the super A1 has more HP than a super A it generates more heat when the engine is working. There fore the cooling system had to be improved. Tractors without a water pumps relied on thermo cooling. As the engine begins to work, it gets warmer and warmer. When the water get hot enough, the water expanse and rises which forces the cold water in the radiator core to go down into the water jacket of the engine. As the water circulates the hot travels down ward through the radiator core and the fan forces air through the veins of the radiator core, which cools the hot water. When a water pump is added the water is circulate faster which improves the cooling of the engine.

    Great example of a true A1.
    I've acquired 2 that match yours exept for oil dipstick. One is early serial # and the other is late serial #.
    I wonder if that was a dealer option?

    • @backyardcountrylivin1514
      @backyardcountrylivin1514  Před rokem

      Great question. Apparently they is somewhat of a mystery about the dipstick. Below is a link to a video that talks about it. They are thinking maybe it came from factory on the later models or as you said may have been a dealer add. Serial # tag on mine is in rough shape and I can only make out a couple of the #’s. Funny thing is I had it for 25 years or so and never had any idea it was a A1. Glad you have been able to get your hands on some. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting.
