The doves and wood pigeons visiting our water bath are inclined to drink, bathe and defaecate into it too. This means changing the water maybe once every other day. You'd have thought that evolution would have taught them to just drink and bathe and leave out stage three for the sake of enjoying a cleaner bath!

I didn't realize collared doves had invaded Georgia. I still haven't spotted one here in North Carolina, but at the rate they're spreading I expect it won't be many years before I do.

Collared Doves are starting too make their way up north. They are typically found down south in states like Florida & Georgia etc...They are a bit "stockier" then Mourning Doves and have a more rounded fan shaped tail. Opposed too the Mourning Doves longer tapered tail. I wish i got Collared Doves at my feeders they are FAR prettier then Mourning Doves in my opinion.

The Hawks seem to catch the collered doves more than the more wirey mourning doves

Dove season starts soon and as a bonus the Eurasians are invasive, meaning no closed season and no bag limits. Can't wait to get back in the field and take my limits of Mourning doves and as many of the little Eurasian pests as I can!
