- Dawud Shabazz joined the search party, but wasn’t prepared for what they found. The little girl’s hair was still in beaded pigtails. Her bones were scattered in the grass. “I just saw my kid laying there,” recalled Shabazz, whose own four children ranged in age from 3 to 13 at the time.The remains were those of LaTonya Wilson, 7. She was one of 29 black youths and young adults killed from 1979 to 1981, the era of the Atlanta Child Murders.The ongoing horror story changed life forever for many in Atlanta. In 2019, Shabazz shared his experience and took AJC to the area where he remembers finding LaTonya.

I always thought LaTonya story was fishy.
All the other kids were taken from off the streets. But its crazy how she was taken right out her bed and made it out of the house.

Nathaniel Cater was the maintenance man to her building. He's the one that replaced the glass. He was the one that was seen walking with the little girl in his arms. He's also one of the men that they charged Wayne Williams with. It's documented and they still let Wayne Williams take the fall he's a true American Patsy

It’s possible Latonya was killed in her home and was dead as she was removed from the apartment. Which explains why she didn’t cry out or struggle. Friends and or family helped to cover it up by staging a kidnapping.
Or she knew the kidnapper and that's why she didn't feel unsafe
I don't think she was killed at home. That house was full of people. She was still asleep when she was taken. That's why she didn't cry out or struggle

He is so right. I can't wait for the day when the killer/killers are finally exposed. I believe the Atlanta police force already knows who a few of the real suspects are but they will never tell.
The case alone confirms or points more toward innocence of Wayne Williams.

But I wonder why her parents or siblings were never interviewed. You hear about the other kids’ parents.. but not her folks.

There's footage of her mother being interviewed. I do believe LaTonya was killed by a family member. According to the witness, it was a black male that climbed through the window and that it was common for her brothers to climb through that window since it was their bedroom window.
How no one heard this child being kidnapped out of her own home is strange, im pretty sure their apt wasn’t that big.

I've heard that before, too! The FBI had reasons to believe that Latonya was a victim of domestic violence.
That baby was mostly already dead before she was taken from her home!! Her mother knows exactly what happened!! She shouldn't have been on the list!! She was mostly killed in her own house hold! AND Nathaniel CATER was seen talking to guy who was holding Latonya s limped body while standing in the parking lot!! Now can the investigators missed that!!

I remember when I was little watching the TV series on this scene it was like a horror movie to me the way she was taken from her bed and took out the house like that and to find her skeleton remains was scary but sad because her and other children were murdered for no reason
I remember watching that Series as a kid as well, I begged my Mom to let me stay up and watch it. I had Terrible Nightmares
I was 9 when the movie came on, and that scene scared me badly!!
I also remember that tv movie about the Atlanta child murders it came on CBS February 14 1985 on a Sunday I was 8 years old I am not from Atlanta but I could not sleep for nights but what really made me so fearing was that this movie Really happen and the kids really did and was getting killed by a gang of evil people I believe wayne Williams is not the killer every one wants to say wanye didn't but take another look the kkk did this and brother wayne Williams was set up big time one question what really stay on my mind is why was the evidence destroy but I already know why

The articles presented in the video make it pretty obvious that her parents murdered her. And one neighbor even reported hearing some kind of fight occur inside Wilson's apartment on the night she was "abducted", and her mother yelling "Stop," and then her mother coming out of her apartment after the commotion. An interview with her mother that's in a few documentaries shows her making some fake crying noises with no tears while talking to a reporter over her daughter's kidnapping-- she covers her eyes a bit with her hand so you can't get a good look at the fact that there's no tears, and it clearly seems like she's trying to act-- and poorly at that.
the family quickly and quietly moved back to Griffin, GA which is where they are from originally I think. Her sister Cheryl did confirm to a researcher of the cases that Williams was not responsible for the death of Latonya. Both her parents are deceased now.

The hilarious part about the fiber evidence is that anyone who is “in the same environment “ as anyone else, can pick up the same fibers and have them on their person.
If 23 people visit Wal-Mart on Monday, and 22 of them are murdered after leaving, and we all pass through a carpeted area of the store, we will all share common fibers on our clothing etc. does that mean that the 1 remaining living person murdered all 22 people simply bc we all went to a place in common?

Bro they didnt just rely on fiber evidence. There were several witnesses who described seeing wayne williams with the victims shortly before theri deaths. Wayne claimed not to know any of the victims. This is why the fiber evidence was so important Fiber evidence showed that the boys had so many fibers from William's house including his dog. They found hundreds of fibers linking to multiple items in Wayne Williams household . You would not get so many fiber links from so many victims unless they were in his environment.

This is very bizarre with the latonya case! Just to be honest her mother knows little more than what is lead to believe! And for the record, it was actually 68 victims not 27! We still had children found dead long after Wayne's conviction! They was still bat patrolling in 83.

They said it was a black man climbed through the window and got latonya out of the home! Nathaniel CATER was seen talking to the man who was holding latonya Wilson's limped body while standing in the parking lot!!! CATER has been seen around some of the victims! And I believe CATER was doing some of the killings and disposing the bodies and wound up getting killed by someone who is in the higher ups!

and Yes Cater lived right above her and was the maitanance man at the apartment building.
Cater's prints was found at two of the crime scenes matter of fact.
Another thing about Cater is that they claimed he was into MMA as well and was very skilled. And so was PatMan.
Some of the younger kids were also studying Martial arts at the Boys and Girls club where another suspect was seen at.
So it isnt far fetched that Cater was one of the killers who eventually ended up getting killed by a higher up. Same with Payne.

Definitely!! Kids were murdered after Wayne went to prison, and a lot more kids died during the height of the Atlanta murders than was reported on!!
Her last name is Wilson, not Williams.

How was she moved from the house and nobody noticed nothing? I’ve been led to believe it was a accidental death, and the other murders were used to cover it up. why didn't they just film at the actual location where latonya's body was found isn't of using an area "something like this"? The lot is still there & surpisingly hasn't been developed, at least the section where her remains were hasn't
Wayne Williams never killed anybody. I know his story quite well because I've been following it ever since the early 1980s. He was used as a scapegoat. Several different people committed those murders, not Wayne Williams.

Dog hairs? For crying out loud, my dog's hairs would match any of the dog hairs the police found on the victim's bodies. Furthermore, the investigators placed fibers on all of the bodies... even the nude bodies that floated down the Chattahoochee River.

You don't seem to understand, and I wouldn't expect you to. You keep on saying Wayne's William's DNA actually "matched" DNA on the victims. I'm trying to tell you the police said, there were roughly 3000 blacks in Fulton County's data base, 47 of those people's DNA were similar to DNA on the victims. Do you understand now? That's not what I would call a "match." You cannot convict 47 people for the same crime. I'm black and if my DNA was in Fulton County's data base, I would probably be a possible match too.

I'm done with you after this. The carpet fibers that were "found" on the victims came from his mother's living room rug. How did that happen? Did Wayne kill all of the victims on his mother's living room rug? Incidentally, carpet fibers from that same rug were found on the victims who were naked floating down the Chattahoochee River. First of all, the coroner's office confirmed that Nathaniel Cater's body had been in the Chattahoochee River two weeks before Wayne Williams was stopped near the bridge. By the way, when Jimmy Ray Payne's body was pulled from the Chattahoochee River, he was wearing swimming trunks. Have a nice day!

You don't know what you're talking about. I live just four hours away from Atlanta, where the murders occurred. Everyone in this area knows Wayne Williams was framed by the police. I've even spoken to some of his relatives. The only reason Wayne Williams is serving time in prison is because of his arrogance and feisty behavior. His parents spoiled him and he was allowed to act out. Once, he even beat up his father over the use of the family car. He was a real jackass and uncooperative with police. Nevertheless, he did not kill anyone! The police blamed every single murder they could think of on Wayne Williams, and they closed the books on investigations. The only thing you Brits know is the bullshit they've printed and posted for you people in the United Kingdom to read. Have a good day.

What do people think of a benefit concert given in 1981 by Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. My understanding is Wayne Williams father was in attendance. In his bio Sammy Davis admitted to being a member of the Church of Satan while Frank Sinatra was called a Warlock and at one time was married to Rosemary Baby's actress Mia Farrow.

DENNIS Wilson no. He didn’t kidnap her or the other little girl that was missing. Somebody had the opportunity to get rid of that baby during a time that child murders were going on. I lived through that time and it was the scariest time of my life. After they locked up Wayne Williams they only charged him for 2 adult missing men, but said since they had him, he more than likely did it, they never charged anybody and basically left it as that. No one knows who really did those child murders. Rumor has it that some other kids went missing after Wayne was already locked up but was not reported under the Atlanta Child Murder Task Force. They treated them as random murders. So if Keisha Lands-Bottom (The Mayor) opens the cases back up with new technology maybe they will find out who did the murders, find out did Wayne do it, or did someone else.

He had lived in this same complex before. Additionally, there were 2 witnesses or 3 who had seen Cater the next day after he was suppose to have been thrown over the bridge. So I don't see how that splash was the body of Cater. The people who seen him and 1 even spoke to him, they knew him.
