My 6 yr old boy saved his until the last minute and gobbled the lot as we reached the motel. We were sharing a bed. During the night, he reared up, burped, and puked up the whole lot on my head. I was advised to shield last year - 3.5 months alone in a one-bed flat with no garden access and no family nearby. Weirdly I coped ok, mentally, at the time (as tough as it was). It’s now that I feel like I’m struggling, as I try to make sense of the fact that some people view having to wear a mask for a 20-minute bus journey as being an affront to their human rights. People suck.
A fortnight in a hotel - with the ability to get out for 40-mins a day - would’ve been much preferred to my experience last year. On the plus side, though, I haven’t had covid and my friends and family are healthy so I’ve lots to celebrate. Not everyone is as fortunate.
This pandemic has really shown people’s true colours. That’s another blessing, in a way.

Really the only difference in my life from the pandemic is that I stopped going to my doctor fortnightly and had calls instead. I go to him again now but less often. I still go to my chiro. It averages out to leaving the house once every 4 weeks. I’m fine with that. The part of it that I’m not fine with is the inner ugliness of people being displayed proudly. You are absolutely correct. People suck.

@@northpaul707 Because of you being 'invited' by the government to stay at their expence EVERYONE else in NZ is allowed to go about their lives free from restriction. They can go about unmasked, shake hands or go to an All Blacks match free of fear.
If that doesn't beat having to cower alone in my trailer here in Florida because at 70 I have respiratory issues and over a third of the population refuse to get vaccinated or even put on a mask.
As I said, sounds like Freedom to me.

@@rittherugger160 🤣🤣🤣 "invited" AKA imprisoned. In Norway we have quarantine requirements, but you can stay where you want for 10 days or until a negative PCR test. If you have been vaccinated or had Covid in the last 6 months there are no restrictions. We are free to walk around and do whatever we did before the pandemic. No masks and no vaccine mandates.
I assume you´re vaccinated, but if you´re still afraid just get some N95 or N99 masks. If you´re still afraid you can use glasses to get some extra protection. You do understand that freedom includes a good portion of personal responsibility, right? There is no need for other people to wear masks or get vaccinated to protect you, you can do that all by yourself.
Like I said, you don´t understand what freedom means.

@@northpaul707 all restrictions in Norway were only recently lifted, you make it sound as though Norway didn't have any restrictions remote learning for kids was a thing, masks and social distancing was a thing, closed border was a thing as well, closed shops as well Norway did have their freedoms restricted just earlier on in this pandemic, same population as NZ yet 871 people have died from covid that 840 more than NZ, and there are 6721 active cases today in Norway with only 67% vaccinated, NZ could afford to take a different approach because they have total control with their border being as they're an island country in the South Pacific, they've also had more freedom and less deaths due to covid in the last 18 months than those of us in Norway. Your attempt to compare the two countries doesn't do Norway or NZ any favours.
