    Under 300kw/mile is good since you have the cargo box on the back. Those superchargers on I-80 are old and slow

    The Nebraska supercharging rate structure is confusing. It is not presented in the typical price per KwH format. Rather, the price varies charging speed. That price range that showed up on your screen varies based on charging speed…so the higher rate when the charging is much faster (usually lower battery state of charge) and it gets cheaper by the minute as the charging slows down.
    The rates at those Nebraska superchargers don’t vary by time of day…that chart just indicates how busy the supercharger is by hour.

      Thanks. I noticed that too when editing. Probably should have put a disclaimer below. Funny how so many states have different ways they charge for electricity. Appreciate the comment 👍

    I feel like estimated arrival % is still getting the bugs worked out of it. It's more complex of a calculation for the car now (not just miles and altitude, like in 2019) - miles, altitude, weather, wind, traffic. I was hoping your trip would should a closer relationship between change in arrival % and Wh/mi used. I know I always add in a few % for my "driving dynamics". Looking forward to seeing more MN and that area of the country as you enjoy your summer. Are you heading to Canada? If you're thinking of Canadian trips, are you planning to go to Banff? I want to head back there and hike to the teahouses again!

      @bryanhauer  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Agree. No trips to Canada planned although I've loved to at some point. Definitely interested in the Western side. I'll definitely have quite a few trips coming up around MN, WI and MI. Those will start after a few videos from my recent trip to Europe. Thanks for watching and hope all is well with you 😀

      @@bryanhauer Forgot to ask if you ever watch the green Energy app in on the display 📉. I use that on long stretches to see where the elevation gains and losses are, and if there are several losses, I charge more. It also tells you where you're losing % (weather, speed, etc.). I don't see other Tesla roadtrip videos highlighting this tool so maybe you can play around with it and see if it gives you any insights into why the projected arrival % is different from the actual (if you haven't do so already "offscreen").

    Charging on the roadtrips can be expensive unless one drives at night. At night one has to be aware of the area because some are sketchy.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Very true! I've found very rural areas are still priced decently, but yeah, anywhere near major cities is getting pricey. Luckily at home I can charge for around $0.11/kWh 👍🏻 At my new home, it'll be completely off-grid so free (outside of the initial investment of course.)

  • @BilalH.-qx2xm
    @BilalH.-qx2xm Před 2 měsíci +1

    How did you figure out there was a charger at the other hotel? is there an app you use to identify such chargers? Thanks!

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 2 měsíci +1

      There's two ways to check... The Plugshare app and/or you can use the screen on your Tesla by tapping to view all Superchargers then tapping the lightning bolt for Level 1, 2 or 3. If you tap for level 1, you'll see the Tesla Destination Chargers like the one I used at the hotel. It will usually only show Tesla Destination Chargers and not 3rd party options so I usually cross reference it with the Plugshare App. Hope that helps 😀

    If you start charging at a destination charger over night would you wake up in the middle of the night to move it off the charger or you would leave it on the charger?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 23 dny +1

      I would always move. I've set my alarm many times (including this time) to make sure I move as soon as it's complete even if that means it's middle of the night. With limited supply of destination chargers at most locations it's the right thing to do. I've pulled in late at night many times and saw people just leave them even though you could tell it had completed charging at the charging port. Then 7 hours later when I leave, they're still parked there and that can be super frustrating. I don't see it often, but it's a pretty selfish thing to do.

      @bryanhauer  Před 23 dny +1

      The Tesla app will send you an alert when charging is about 5 minutes from completing whatever limit you set. If it says 4 hours to say complete, I’ll just set an alarm on my phone so I can move it 👍

    I noticed you used the pull in slot when changing….doesn’t etiquette dictate one should avoid if possible…for those pulling a boat or trailer ?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Did you watch the video? I have a rear cargo box so have every right to use a pull in. Pulling in makes it much easier, but if you also noticed most of the Superchargers were empty and I’ve also talked about previously that if someone did show up towing I’d move for them in a heartbeat.
      Edit: I'm going to follow up with this... those spots are priority for anyone towing, using a rear hitch bike rack or rear hitch cargo box. I will also say I have traveled all over the US and charged at probably 500+ Superchargers and I probably see 1 person towing for every 100 times I've Supercharged. Again, in these cases the whole Supercharger location was basically empty and I was the only person charging there so in the out of this universe chance someone did pull up towing, because I can fit (albeit it's a bit more challenging) I'd move for them. It is however more convenient to just pull in when you have something on your hitch like I did.
      This is also a problem Tesla created on their own by the poor design of most Supercharger locations. Now with the introduction of the Cybertruck and opening of Superchargers to Rivian, Ford, Chevy trucks etc... you're going to have a lot of people having to disconnect the hitch anyways as they can't leave their trailer blocking the entire lane. Gas stations got it right with their design... easy pull in regardless of which side you use to fuel/charge up, covered and ideally should use solar arrays as the roof to cover.

    For some reason I thought you had to stay at their hotel .

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 2 měsíci +3

      On Plugshare and I believe Tesla it stated it was open to the public. Didn't matter if it was for someone using the restaurant nearby, or one of the many nearby hotels. It will usually say "See front desk" if it's only for that hotel. Even then it's sometimes ok or they'll charge you a small amount. In this case they shared a parking lot and of course I moved as soon as charging was complete as to not take up the space and others could use 👍🏻

    Hi Bryan, I just read yesterday that the 2025 Tesla Juniper might get up to 500 miles in range. Is it time to upgrade next year?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I too am waiting for the Model Y refresh, but I can assure you, it won't have anywhere close to 500 miles range. It might have a small bump, but nothing like that. There's no technology currently available that would produce that much of a gain year over year in the space they have. I mean the Cybetruck that was supposed to get over 500 miles range and currently states a 340 mile range, really only actually gets around 250 miles of actual usable real world range. Even the Chevy Silverado RST EV packs a giant 213 kWh battery only gets 440 miles per charge (which is best in class currently.)
      I think the other upgrades that we've recently seen in the Model 3 refresh are still a great reason to wait for the new Model Y, but unfortunately I don't think we'll see much of a range boost.
      Appreciate the comment 😀
