    Since you spend so much time in the desert heat, I wanted to share a tip I came across. If you put the windshield sun reflector on the outside of the car rather than inside and hold it in place with your wipers the car will be about 15° cooler as the wind shield does not heat up and an air barrier is created which provides further insulation cooling. Not sure how practical it will be to set up, but perhaps it comes in useful.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for the tip! 👍🏻 How do you get the wipers to stop mid way? Otherwise I don't see it staying as the desert gets pretty windy.

      I think the suction cups that comes with the sun shield would be handy to hold from the outside right about now.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před rokem

      Yeah, not doing that. 😀 I’ll take a little extra windshield heat which honestly hasn’t been a problem. Those suction cups are terrible and barely hold on inside the vehicle.

      I was thinking the same thing, keep the sun from hitting the glass which prevents the radiation from entering the car in the first place. You will save energy. Learned that the hard way camping in Florida. I saw a guy a few spots over putting one of those 10' x 10' ezfold awnings over his M3. Worked like a charm.
      I find the most useful tip of all is the desire to learn from others.

      Wouldn't fit in the Yakima box and is too heavy for it as well if you have other stuff in there. You can get a bike rack if you want it outside. Doesn't really get much dirt in there though anyways so hasn't been a problem. When I go somewhere with another person who has a bike I just use my bike rack.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před rokem +1

      Agree 👍🏻 I'm sure it will be included in the Cybertruck in a few months and hopefully that trickles down to the rest. Wouldn't help with things like the Air fryer as that's running at 1800 watts, but I imagine the Cybertruck will allow for larger loads like that 120v/240v. Currently the 4 USB-C ports on the Model Y will charge your laptop, phone, camera equipment etc.., but it's rather slow.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  Před rokem

      Good question! In places like Moab there really aren't any types of animals one would need to worry about and plenty of human traffic around, but once you get into remote grizzly bear country like in Montana or Wyoming... then you do have to be more careful and cook 100 yards away from camp, not take too long and keep all food in a bear box or in a bear bag while of course always carrying bear spray and/or other protection.

      @bryanhauer  Před rokem +2

      Thanks 🙏 I haven't tested them, but from my understanding they're likely not. I do have an interesting fridge review coming up in the next week or two that does support 16v. Another option I saw is getting a converter kit to go from 16v to 12v, but haven't tested that. Stay tuned because you're about the 20th person to ask me that recently so clearly there's a lot of people wondering the same thing so will get to the bottom of it for you guys 😀

      @@bryanhauer
      Hi Bryan,
      First, many thanks for your quick response and willingness to check out my concerns. This same concern applies to any aftermarket item that I might plug into my, new 16 volt power outlet, on my 2023 Tesla Model Y LR.
      You have quite a few items that you plug into your 12 volt sockets on your Tesla. I assume that your Tesla is not a 2023 and has the older 12 volt battery. Maybe someday someone will make a video or bring this important concern to the manufactures. Since they value your input, if it came from you if would carry more weight and changes could be made to their advertising. I am sure it would increase their sales totals.😊
      I did a couple of things since I posted. I checked on a 1800W Oupes unit on e-Bay It mentioned the input was 12 volts. I sent the vendor a question about the 16 volt battery in the 2023 model Y and asked him it the unit would work on 16 volts input.
      Here was his reply. "Hello Dear Buyer
      Thank you for your message.
      The power can receive 12V-30v input.
      Do let us know if you have any questions.
      Have a great day ☺
      Stay safe,
      All the best"
      Next I went to the Oupes Website and downloaded the manual for the 1800 W Oupes unit. On page 15 of the manual under the INPUT it stated
      "Input Voltage" 12V~30V"
      I may be wrong, but it appears that the Oupes 1800W unit will accept 16Volts as it is within the 12V~30 Range of acceptable input voltages so from what I have been told and read in the manual it should work on the 16 Volts provided to the 2023 Tesla Model Y LR.
      It would be nice if they would clarify that in their sales specifications instead of just saying 12 V input.
      I would give you a link to the the download, but I don't think CZcams allows links in the comment sections.😊
      BTW, I believe Oupes is having a BIG sale with huge discounts right now. You might want to check out their website.
