This is a goldmine of information. Thank you so much for compiling this data and presenting it so comprehensively! I'm probably going to go with the Oura ring!

Whoop would always flip in my sleep. The tracker would always end up somehow slipping off my wrist and my sleep wouldn’t get tracked. Additionally, I have eczema and very sensitive skin. The whoop would always make my wrist break out. Oura for me all day long.

you can do latency with whoop. You can also log into whoop on the computer and look back as far as youve had the device. you can also download data via PDF

Great breakdown. Oura user here and overall very happy with it. I like the journal feature in Whoop... that looks good and I wish Oura had a user-friendly version; something quick and simple that prompted you each evening.

    Oura:
    - cant wear doing weights
    - comes off when washing hands, need to be careful
    - have to take off to charge, can forget to put on
    - if you lose/gain weight, you need to move to a different finger. Sometimes you need to buy a whole new unit.
    Whoop:
    - never need to take off
    - looks better
    - more accurate
    - better data tracking with a survey to track what works for you
    - no step counter
    - more wholistic tracking: exercise and sleep.
Neither are perfect, but i would choose whoop over oura. Glad i tried both, the nudging and prompts for sleep are ever so slightly better on oura.

I agree, Whoop is better for my use case. But a few points seem a bit biased for others:
      - "Never need to take off" isn't a fair argument when the actual functional battery of the whoop still needs to be taken off. Both can be forgotten without a routine.
      - "Looks better" is highly subjective. I actually prefer the oura ring's look compared to another band on my wrist, but I chose function over form with Whoop.
Overall though, agree. It's a great video and gave the right points for everyone to choose on their use cases.

@@ruseruser2227 so things like weight training was difficult with Oura. I definitely wouldn't surf with it either. I legitimately never take off the whoop and there is always a charged battery so I will clip it on at bed time or whatever, where as the Oura has patches where you can forget to put it on or don't wear it, like I mentioned, and you can lose that data. I think that was my point.

@@normalguy7898 ahh I see that makes sense. Yeah that is definitely a strong point, I just meant that both require a little bit of habit forming to get used to.
The way I see it, those with rings on other fingers outside of oura shouldn't find a huge hassle in Oura.
That being said, I still went for Whoop since wearing a ring is horrible when lifting weights.

Leaning towards Whoop. But, for now, the monthly subscription fee that some devices requires to work (e.g. Whoop or Eight Sleep) seems to hold me back. Not sure if it is the price or what. But, I keep thinking it's like buying an Apple Watch and then having to get an additional monthly Apple subscription plan to make the Apple Watch work the way it is supposed to work. Just seems weird to me. But, that's just me.

I use the Oura Ring, but use a dedicated heart rate monitor when I train. I use my Gear S3 for steps. I use Health Connect app to help parse infomation and Google Fit app in conjunction with them. Two thungs I noticed about the Oura Ring is it needs to be clean before bed and sometimes I use a hair toe to keep it from spinning in my sleep and getting gaps. I also noticed since I often do nearly five hour gym sessions that Oura probably overestimates calories burned. I dont believe its adjusting for the reduction of basal metabolic rate from the exogenous data it gets from my Polal Beat heart rate monitor. As far as using the Oura as a training monitor it about worthless. It's fairly accurate on step count and i think monitors stress well. They say you can get overwhelmed by so much data but I find it easier to parse specific nuances. Just my two cents. Ive had Oura rings for years so have the lifetime membership and it was well woth the initial cost and costs .e nothing monthly. You have awesome co tent and it's well presented. Thanks!

I have only used the Oura ring as its the only fitness tracker i will consider currently. Airplane mode is essential for me while i sleep and i really dont care to wear anything around my wrist especially at night. Would be awesome if Oura had a better journaling feature like whoop and hopefully they continue to improve on their fitness tracking. Great overall breakdown! Your channel definitely deserves more attention and subscribers for the quality of content you put out. Maybe the fact that your channel name has nothing to do with your content focus plays a part.

Have you been comfortable with the Oura ring size you chose? Have you had issues where it might be more snug than usual? And is that noticeable enough to make it uncomfortable? I saw their sizing kit but I've never worn a ring so I'm a bit hesitant on buying a 200-300 dollar ring and have it not fit comfortably

I'm on my Whoop trial month and it drives me nuts that it can't show me sleep phases on the chart what even some mobile apps can do accurately let alone an awesome and old Zoe tracker. It's a crucial info if you want to know when the body adjusted to the new time zone. So far Whoop is really way too simple to track sleep between timezones.

I think Whoop can track sleep latency IF you manually start your sleep as an activity. I don't really need it as "Efficiency" is good enough for me. It's weird that your Whoop takes so long to update in the morning, mine shows all the data within 10 min max, usually more like 5- 7minutes. Maybe try to reboot yours? I was choosing between Oura and Whoop, but decided to go with Whoop simply because imo Oura is not a good fit for any activities where you need to grab things (which is pretty much any activity). Just like you said, you can't wear it if you grab weights, etc. Also, I don't really like having stuff on my fingers, I even never wore a wedding ring because of that, lol. What's cool about Whoop also is that you can wear it on a bicep, or even on your wrist. And I absolutely love the way you can charge your Whoop and that it lasts for about 100 hours on a single charge. Never lost my battery pack in almost 2 years 😄
