Yamaha Raptor 700 Clutch Mod

Here I show you what the Yamaha Raptor clutch mod is which is a real simple upgrade to your clutch. This is something you should think about if you upgraded the horsepower of your engine or do a lot of racing or hill climbing.

Nice upgrade for some maybe...but I like a smooth engagement for climbing over stuff slow and more technical riding...

For sure. That's why they have it that way to begin with to make it real nice for most people. You really only want to upgrade if you have to. The stock clutch i think is a good quality clutch.

This mod is because the stock clutch can only handle 60 hpish

I put a high performance clutch on my yfz and I dont think I would do this to my raptor it does hold the power very well but you lose all smoothness in the clutch and its pretty much all or nothing it grabs hard

It is a trade off for sure. Adding the 8th disk but keeping the stock springs should keep it manageable. Heavy duty springs are a different story.

@@Team2Gils yes it is a trade off I got stiffer springs but i read to do half of the stiff springs and half stock you put a stiffer spring every other one so it wasnt so aggressive but it still is

Wish they made a hydraulic clutch kit for these. I have a rekluse now with heavy springs and it is a tough one. Racing though, I really do not notice anything but the trees.

Do you still have the Rekluse clutch and if so do you like it. I drag race with my 700, do you think this would be a good upgrade for a good holeshot or take off?

I still have it and love it. Not sure if it is the best for drag racing or not. Cuervo Racing is a big Raptor drag racer, you might ask this question to him. I believe he sells specialized lock up clutches and such. I would think the savings from not having a rekluse, spent on another upgrade would be more beneficial. Again, for drag racing, I would check with Daniel at Cuervo Racing on FB.
