    We have used Hyundai chain saws for years and find they’re excellent value for money. A little regular tlc and they go on and on.
    On that basis we bought the stump grinder and have found the pull start mechanism is made from chocolate. We have destroyed three, only yesterday it disintegrated again whilst on the job grinding out two leylandii stumps. Thankfully the other two bushes that were to be ground down we were able to dig out the root ball completely otherwise we would have had to return to the job. We’ve had a brake cable come apart but were able to get the job done.
    The cutting teeth are also poor quality but it is possible to grind an edge back. One cutter snapped at the bolt mounting and no, we didn’t hit a rock.
    They are cheap but it is a misconception to say they have a three year warranty! If you’re using them commercially it’s 12 months only and as they are so fragile it borders on dishonesty.
    We only grind the occasional stump, but find it necessary now to carry too many spares.
    Our call to Hyundai today reveals they’re out of stock of replacement pull starter mechanisms…..how long we will have to wait is a big issue. Thankfully we don’t have a stump booked in for the near future.
    This is the only Hyundai product that has given issues but are now reluctant to buy again from this company.
    We also run the multi tool and power blower.
    Note….1. leave the engine running with the teeth in the ground and the drive belt will burn out. 2. Let the weight of the machine control the cutting efficiency and cross the stump slowly and smoothly. 3. Start on the edge of the stump and grind down to the required depth, taking off small bites, otherwise it will wear or rip down the stump as seen in this video. 4. Operate the grinder with it’s wheels on a cut down sheet of ply to prevent it digging in and limiting it’s cross movement…especially when the ground is wet.
    Would I buy another for commercial use…NO. Not reliable enough.

    How did they react when you sent it back with warranty.

    Bought one a month ago and about to try it out tomorrow on my dad's stump. Seems pretty well made and lightweight. Use a couple of scaffold boards to ramp it into the back of my transit. How did you get on with your return? The instructions are absolutely useless with regard putting it together especially the brake, no instructions at all! Wouldn't start with the choke, only in the run position which makes no sense at all. Not a machine to buy if you have no practical 'assembly' skills.

    I've got the Hyundai multi tool and a mower, they have been excellent with aftersales service/warranty claims. No hassles at all for me. Machines are cheap but they do a job as you say.

    You can tell your grinder has dull teeth in this video. It's tearing the wood rather than chipping it.

      The teeth are new but It is going through hard wood...

      Just seemed strange. Never noticed that problem with sharp teeth. Oh well, it's a hard task grinding stumps.

    • @checker3694
      @checker3694 Před 3 lety +2

      Yes I noticed that as well, in the process of buying one myself, I know it’s hard wood, but it’s tearing the timber rather than chippy, blade is not digging in.
